Nathan West

Recommended Posts

Hadn't seen this posted anywhere and thought it needed sharing.

Fellow ncfc fan Nathan West (Westy) was subject to some vile abuse on Twitter last night from some absolute tools - mainly anonymous accounts with footballers as their profile pic. He'd done a very fine pre-match interview with the Pink Un, showing more bravery than those bullies to get on camera and say what he thinks.

Was very heartwarming to see the response from the wider football community this morning. Especially with Westy's Macmillan fundraiser. He's absolutely smashed his £500 goal - last I looked he was approaching £8000. Link here:

Nice to see the football community coming together to overcome bullies.

£8k!!! When I saw it he had £1200 and I thought that was brilliant.

Wow, what an accomplishment.

£8k? It was showing £9.5k when I looked. My son showed me some of the stuff on “X”, some pretty scummy people about.

Brilliant interview, and an amazing achievement to raise so much.

Not on Twitter so can't see the comments being spoken about, but just ignore them young man.

That interview has approaching 9m views right now, I imagine they normally top out at a few thousand?

It must be hard to ignore but tossers are tossers, and not worth wasting any time on.  Raising a tonne of cash for charity shows there’s more good out in the world and should make them think again (but I dare say it won’t).

Wondered if this had made it's way to the forum. Lovely stuff. Two fingers up to the minority of cowards giving him abuse for no reason.

Sadly internet anonymity has brought out the worst in some. Good to see it's reached over 16k, good for him. I'll see if I can share elsewhere

Says the anonymous poster who has just started a sensationalist thread about bringing back the death penalty.

Is this really the thread to bring this up in? Really? A thread about charity and you're using it to have a pop at a user you don't like? Jog on.

Hope he's getting good training in. Should be going close to HM distance now in his long runs, so 9 or 10 miles.

So when do you get out then, Cambridgeshire?

Total over £20k now.

Meanwhile, 'Westy' is trending on Twitter.

Chris Reeve deserves huge credit for turning this around.

Over 30k raised now. Wonderful to see.

Easy to forget, when you see such toxicity on social media, that the bad guys are massively, massively outnumbered.

We desperately need new criminal laws to cover abuse on social media.

How about those convicted get a punch on the nose from a boxer so they know what pain feels like.

Shane Duffy has just donated £500. With gift aid that becomes a whopping £625.

Can't imagine what's going through Nathan's head right now. He must be over the moon.
