If you look at what those players have achieved since, they were all overpriced. Even Emi hasn’t been a regular starter. Webber is a master salesman.

That isn't really true with Emi. 27 starts last season, especially after Gerrard (who is an awful manager) left. He's a pretty key player for a team who finished 7th.

Fair enough, I haven’t been paying that much attention to the PL. The point about Webber getting very decent prices still stands though I think.

I Think Jacob Murphy has been a good buy and pretty cheap for Newcastle plenty of game time plays different positions

It's not necessarily getting it twice. The clause may say Coventry are entitled to a percentage of ANY future fees received from Norwich. We might both get money if he moves from spurs if Leicester do!

Apparently they do. The Maddison transfer went through very late on the final day of the window. The fee was modest but Coventry put clauses in all over the place for future payments.

I think you look at what those players have done since and the value of them now, we sold them at the perfect time for the highest fee they'll likely ever move for (Emi and Madders apart, who are special talents).

But Godfrey was an absolutely outstanding fee for a Championship CB, Pritchard for £11 million was an absolute robbery from us, when you look at what performances followed and that we replaced him with 1.5m Emi

The Murphys and Lewis we got fantastic prices for, with Jacob being the only one close to having a decent Prem career.

It's quite unusual but apparently Coventry have a clause inserted whereby any Maddison-related income we get from Leicester related to any of our own add-ons, they get a %. 

You don't see it very often but it's probably worked out pretty well for them.

Exactly, it’s only a few hundred grand for a player who owes nothing to this club. Clever add ons by Coventry to be fair.

No, it's because Madders is coming from a relegated side who really need a rebuild, whereas Chelsea can afford to demand a bigger premium as they have necessity to sell Mount.

If Leicester had stayed up, I could easily see them demanding the same amount as being touted for Mount to let Maddison go, but that's the price of relegation, and a champs club getting 40 mil for a player must be a new record - even if it's less than I think he's actually worth in relative terms.

Not really. Chelsea have to sell a shed load of players to raise enough cash to keep within the Financial Fair Play rules. Not sure why Man Utd let themselves get dictated to by a club desperate to sell.

Southgate maybe likes one more as he didnt say he was ill/injured then went out to a casino. That and the fact that he likes a drink or too. (That was certainly a pretty open secret when he was here. I heard it from multiple sources. Hopefully it's changed tho) Maybe they think mount is a better bet?

Altho I personally say  you're right. It's a low price for maddison

Fair play to whoever negotiated that sell-on clause. An extra windfall never hurts.
