That would be absolutely hilarious.

"From Paris to Newcastle" does sound rather like the name of an episode of only fools and horses or something

Wasn’t Coutinho one of the most expensive players in Europe at one point? He now plays for Villa. So this doesn’t seem so unbelievable.

Barcelona - Paris St Germain - Newcastle strange career trajectory. You think his should be the the complete reverse. Newcastle - PSG- Barcelona.

Sort-of-Qatar to Qatar to Saudi Arabia. Seems about right.

Doesn't seem to fit in with the ethos of how they've been developing so far, which is sensibly. Neymar would blow that right out of the water.

I doubt they'll be a football club in any real sense for much longer, more just a Saudi sportswashing arm. What with the golf, the proposed new cricket league and now Premier League football, the Saudis are pretty serious about laundering their international reputation

Would this not undermine the job that Howe has been doing at Newcastle?

they seem a really tight knit group with great team spirit

Howe has never managed players like this will be interesting how he handles it

A crock and a bit of a **** but let’s be honest, when he gets on the pitch he’s different gravy.

That would have to be the worry. Have to say he's a so much better coach than I gave him credit for yet find it weird, if true, that the club would want to risk pricking the bubble so early in their development - which has been amazingly fast. Even Pocch had the big egos dynamic undercutting him at PSG, the momentum at Newcastle is precious but you might sense it's also still fragile.

Noticeable it's the owners and not Howe.  Can't imagine he'd be too chuffed to be honest after what has been a careful and well judged squad build so far.  He has resisted the temptation to go full Boehly and they are much better for it.

World class player who doesn't quite get the credit he deserves for his footballing ability due to the fact he's a total and utter beIIend.

Yeah he seems like he's much more interested in willing the Ballon D'or than helping his team win trophies. I see it ending badly.

To be honest, I don't think he's been terribly arsed about football outside of the national team for a few years now. He's like the Brazilian Gareth Bale, but with parties instead of golf.

It probably would but it’d do a nice job for the Saudi’s of raising the profile and selling merchandise and growing the marketability of Newcastle globally.

This signing is purely economics driven. It doesn’t really matter if he contributes much, just as long as they get a shot of him in the stripes and he pops up with one or two goals he will make headlines.

It’s not football like it used to be sadly
