England

The good England, that being the women, not the **** England.

Lauren Hemp has both scored and assisted a goal in a manner that no Norwich player has managed all season. Pride of Norfolk.

Probably for the best, having watched Norwich in the EPL and England Men's, it was hard to keep up with what I was watching. Progressive, exciting football, I'd forgotten what it was like to support a team playing like that.

I mean, you encouraged me to look at the highlights but I think you may have misdescribed it somewhat. The first two goals only happen because the goals are too big for womens football, with Englands first an awful cross that ends up a goal.

Englands second was a good goal, and there felt there was actually a little pace to it. The third goal is another comedy one.

I must say it does look a bit better than it did a couple years ago, but still a long way from being entertaining to me.

Mulbarton, Dereham, Gorleston and Wroxham have 2 things in common.

They're Norfolk non league teams

They could all quite easily beat the England Ladies team

So what?

I’d beat the England cerebral palsy team. Does it mean they should just stop playing?

Man City are better than Gorleston. Should Gorleston just fold?

that’s why we have leagues and divisions and age/gender distinction. For competitiveness

The “men are better” argument is so weird to me. Yeah, obviously. They aren’t going to stop the womens 100m because the men are faster.

So? You watch Mulbarton a lot, is that **** because Ipswich would destroy them?

One of the best moments of the 2016 Olympics was the women's hockey getting gold, was that **** because some men's club team could have beaten them?

If it's just about quality, we should all switch allegiance to Man City, until they get **** and support someone else.

Fact is, the game last night was immeasurably more entertaining than the previous 3 men's England games.

I am begging people to realise you don't have to comment on everything.

If you dont like/aren't interested in women's football, fine, move along.

WTF has that got to do with anything?

I'm not sure they would either.

To be honest, this was a fishing expedition.

When Serena Williams was comfortably the best female tennis player in the world she trained regularly with the 600th ranked man. She struggled to win a game, let alone a set. Football is no different. To succeed in any sport a high level of 'Sports Vision' is needed. Women don't have it which is why F1 can't find a female driver (which it desperately wants).

The standard of womens football is laughable and yet apparently the regular chant in USA is "Equal Pay". God help us.

OK. Let's use other, unrelated sports as an example that means nothing; The winning time for the ladies 100m in the 2020 Olympics was 10.61 seconds. Not many men can do that and there were even men in the same Olympics heats that were slower than that. (PS, you also entirely missed his point, which was, so what if Dereham are better; who cares?)

Don't get me wrong, I have zero interest in Womens football. If they were playing in my back garden, I'd close the curtains but that doesn't mean we should mock it? If people do enjoy it. Go for it.  If you don't, go do something you do enjoy and leave people who do alone?

Standard of women's football is decent. It's just not as physical for obvious, biological reasons. That's also why you have the stories of the U14s Wheeltappers and Chunters Boys team beating international women's teams - the boys are usually a hell of a lot faster and stronger than the women.

I referee girls matches on occasion. Found them very enjoyable to watch and officiate, and I like that slowly but surely, young girls are realising that our sport can be a very nice hobby as youngsters. If, in twenty or so years time, it means we can have professional women players across a good number of teams here in the UK, even better.

We have a lot of ground to catch up as ultimately women were essentially not encouraged to play for a good fifty years.

Well so what, everyone would expect a man to beat woman in what used to male dominated sports. Your attitude is nothing but sexist.

I would rather watch a professional womens football than some fat **** in a village football team.

I know it's difficult to achieve but I hope the women's game gets the funding required to improve it. Slightly smaller pitches and definitely smaller goals would make it infinitely more watchable. I dont think the women's goalkeepers are necessarily bad (as is often made out) they're just genuinely not physically big enough for the size of the goal.

If you are saying that Serena Williams is rubbish because she wouldnt beat a bloke , that says far more about you then her .

There is some rubbish written on here , but this is right up there .

Some extraordinary comments replying to my last post. All of them ignored the Sports Vision point but instead decided to accuse me of sexism when you don't actually know if I'm male or female. Do some research. If it was all about physical strength then a woman should be driving in F1.  That isn't the case so before you slag me off for being sexist go and find out why and give me a reasoned response

If you want to watch football of the standard of the England Ladies team go and watch Wroxham or Dereham. And please at least do me the favour of doing some scientific research before commenting.

****ing nonsense from a poster who I used to consider one of the better posters here.

Being a woman doesn't excuse you of sexism any less than being homosexual excuses you of homophobia or being part of a minority excuses you of racism.

What's going on with you @dylanisabaddog? I thought of you as a principled, reasoned poster, but this is the second or third time I've now noticed you for posting utter ****. Get your act together.

Speaking of England, just watching the U19s play against Israel in the Euros. I'm not sure what Slovakia are thinking with their pitches, but they appear to be playing on a swamp. Awful conditions that put the players at risk.

Genuine question?...I wonder how many regular female watchers of mens football actively watch or take an interest in women's football?

All of those I know or have read comments also think it's a terrible standard of the sport and aren't interested..

OK, I did my research, found your flickr account, and you definitely are a male.

So.... that means you definitely are sexist then does it?

Gender not the only thing you've got some obvious issues with of course, odd comment about the colour of England players today, and not the first time you've hinted at race. You've got some unresolved issues.

sexism.thumb.PNG.035cc8df98fb739eb59c1e0834dce107.PNG

How disturbing. Do you really spend your evenings trawling the Internet looking for my identity? How odd!  Is it just me or do you spend time seeking out other posters?  But congratulations on finding my son's photos. He'll be pleased you've looked at them.

I'm not really sure why you think I have gender issues, unless of course you think that pointing out the differences between men and women is an "issue".  I like to think of it as science.

And suggesting that I have race issues because I have pointed out that the England women's team has no black or mixed race is ludicrous. I really don't understand your train of thought.

Instead of pointing the finger, try to answer the question, why does the female England team not have any non white players?  Black, Asian and mixed race people have had a huge impact on sport in this country ,to such an extent that we would struggle badly without them, especially in athletics and male football. I hope it's not for the same reason that the Yorkshire cricket team doesn't have any Asian players. I hope it isn't.

I guarantee, in the same car Jamie Chadwick destroys Nicholas Latifi.

Just keep it facing the right direction and she's won.

There were 3 black or mixed players in the squad of 25 you tool. Clearly didn't watch the game did you.

Are you suggesting that England managers should have a quota? How ludicrous. Particularly as you seemed to suggest that Jenas only got his job for being non-white.

Players should be picked for their national side on merit, most of us our colour blind, that you sit there counting how many black faces there are says more about you than it does about anybody else. Appalling.

Unless I'm imagining it, a black player played for England yesterday, coming on as a sub and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the celebrations with her teammates. I think sometimes people like to look for problems when there isn't.

Very exciting game and, echoing other sentiments on here, most I've enjoyed a game in a long time.

Not to take away from the quality of the football, which was excellent, but Kelly's goal celebration was also a nice surprise... as a terrific demonstration of women's equality, of course. 😇
