Surprised he has but mawson been released by Fulham - surely worth a punt with us?

I'm not, he has barely played. Seri was the surprising one given that he was one of their top performers this season. A DM too, but I think his wages will rule him out for us.

Seri and Mawson cost £45 million between them.

With such an obvious failure I'm sure that we must conclude that Stuart Webber must have advised Fulham on the purchases!

He's not the kind of DM we need to be fair, more a playmaker type than anything solid defensively.

He's not a Skipp, but he's been playing largely in the two of a 4-2-3-1, admittedly with Reed alongside, but he's certainly a lot more solid by far than anything we've had on the books this season.

Still, a moot point as he's likely to go abroad on £40k plus I suspect.

I think we need a complete re-vamp in midfield tbf. Dowel and PLM should be very good at Championship level in more advanced midfield roles, but we need at least two more midfielders who can play further back. A true CDM, and a play maker - Skipp and Vrancic types.

I would love Gus Hamer at Coventry but I suspect he might attract interest from more attractive propositions. I wanted him last summer tbf after my Coventry supporting cousin waxed lyrical about him and said he'd be a great fit for us.

Joe Rothwell is highly rated at Blackburn and likely leaving on a free who could be a good option.

Does anyone know if he has run his contract down or were Blackburn Rovers happy to let him leave? And is he a proper defensive midfielder in the Skipp style?

He ran it down apparently. Being linked with a host of top end Championship clubs like Forrest and Sheffield United but more of a creator than a destroyer, 10 assists this season.

I'm sure we can "afford" free agents - weekly wages are irrelevant when you structure in signing on bonuses etc. Whether players like Seri and Rothwell will be interested in joining Norwich is more debatable.

I worked with a Fulham fan at the time they signed him. He genuinely said that he thought he would be better than Kante because "they have similar attributes but Seri will offer more going forward".

If we really wanted him, I don't think that £40,000 a week would be the issue. Length of contract might be but more probably the deciding factor would be that we don't want him and he wouldn't want us.

Tapped them up so we could get them for free at the end of their contracts - genius!

Last summer I said that we should make a move for Lewis Travis at Blackburn  a very capable DM, Still only 24.

I was ridiculed by a few, but he's a hell of a lot more accomplished than Sorenson and that's what we're now left with in that part of the pitch.

Unfortunately just penned a new long-term deal so should imagine his fee would be beyond our reach now.

As has Gus Hamer at Coventry who, admittedly only at the prompting of my cousin, I wanted us to sign last summer.

I read that Joe Rothwell is leaving Blackburn on a free. 10 assists and 3 goals this season. 27 years of age. Interest from Sheffield Utd and Bournemouth. Free, championship experience and off the back of a good season. In a position we need. To me, it seems like a no brainer.

No I don't read your ****ty posts.

Crikey. Although if we're both  suggesting we sign the same player then wouldn't that also make your post ****ty? What a conundrum.

Rothwell a good shout, although I'd imagine Bournemouth is his destination if they're genuinely interested.

I like Alan Browne from Preston.. no idea why, just a player I've always liked.

Also one of (or both of) max bird and Jason knight from Derby, again just players I've liked the look of, no real reasons.

(And a left field, out of the blue, for absolutely no reason other than a random football manager save where he done well for me...... Would love ogbene who can play as a wing back from Rotherham 😂

He picks up a fair number of yellows, which is nice to see in a DM.

Spurs having an extra £150m invested into the squad, and they're after experienced players, particularly central midfield.

I wonder whether Conte will focus more on experience than youth, and whether that drops Skipp down the pecking order?

Indeed. Its a shame we didn't raid the championship more. But the £9-10 million fees we payed for Tzolis, Sargent and Rashica would have got you some of these players.. Only really the top championship strikers that go for £20 million plus.

We did it under Lambert, and it worked very well.

Even if it did a host of top division clubs would be straight in there.

Yep, Skipp's days of playing outside of a top division are over, easily an EPL midfielder, even if Conte deems him surplus to requirements when assembling a Champions League squad.
