MOTD (again)

Recommended Posts

To be fair Lineker and Wright both commented that we played well, but yet again we've done that and still lost what new way can they comment on us being plucky but not good enough ultimately?

I was more pissed off that they didn't even show the Alisson incident.

Why do people still watch this programme?!

Beggars belief.

Just watch the extended highlights video that the club posts on YouTube. The producers and presenters of MOTD have never given a sh*t about us and they aren't about to start now.

Agree, only watched for that.

How did you get that through the profanity checker?

Masochistic tendencies.

Well no point watching the extended EPL highlights on YouTube either, as the editorial geniuses there not only didn’t show the Alisson incident, they didn’t show either of Pukki’s first half chances either.

They showed the one where he was one on one in the first half and he put it past the post

You beat me to it mate. If you are not in top six you won’t get a mention.

Unless you are Eddie Howe and Newcastle. 😂

I've no idea why people constantly get wound up by MOTD/similar shows.

We are the smallest/one of the smallest clubs in the division and the equivalent to a Wycombe or Rotherham in the Championship. The general viewer of MOTD will care more about Liverpool than Norwich, that's just a fact. Hence, they will produce the show to get the highest ratings and viewers possible. They do this by focusing their analysis on the bigger team, whether they were good or bad, it's natural.

The sooner people accept this (it's the same for us when we're the 'bigger' club in the Championship and the respective highlights programmes) the sooner it will stop winding people up. I'd do exactly the same if I were director of MOTD.

On the theme of over-used scenarios, also see below:

1) When fans say 'it's the [INSERT CLUB] way to make it hard for ourselves'

2) When pundits and commentators say 'that's what the fans of 'INSERT CLUB' have always demanded. They want to see attacking football with 100% effort'.

Never watch it when we lose. I’ll never forget when three of my friends and myself were on a train back from Heathrow Airport and we lost really badly once. I phoned home as I lived with parents at the time to let them know the signals have failed and won’t be going anywhere at the moment.

My father’s suggestion?, get off the train, check into a hotel and stay overnight watching Match of the Day, knowing I’d get wound up!.

Never watch that when we lose was the rule, now I never watch it at all and get my highlights fix on YouTube. The show needs a huge overhaul and to stop being bias towards certain teams.

One night Man United were not even playing and they spent 15 minutes analysing their formations and team selections over the course of the season, much to many peoples annoyance.

Bit late I know but Liverpool v Norwich was Sky Game of the Day yesterday at 22.30.  Full match shown we were plucky but completely overrun. As regards MOTD don'f care don't watch.  Generally you can get a full replay of City games on 3.00 Saturday Kick off's on Sky Football late Sat eve or Sun morning.  If not specific NCFC you are likely to be one of the two Games of the Day need to record both.

Absolutely rubbish show made worse by smug **** Lineker.

In the 90s they only shown highlights of two matches and the rest were just the goals with a brief overdub. You were always guaranteed that if Man United won, you were going to be subdued to their match given the special treatment.

When they lost 6-3 to Southampton, they just shown the goals with a brief voiceover, if the result was the other way round, I bet it would have been given the extended highlights treatment.

Although the way they show the matches today is now all extended highlights, they still show bias towards big teams by having their games on first and talking about how great that team is for far too long in the studio afterwards.

What is wrong with people. Do NCFC deserve to be stars of the show. Absolutely not. They are bottom of the league, devoid of cash  and will not be the darlings of anyone at this level. The stats do not lie!

Exactly right, which narrative is better - club competing with Man City close gap to 6 with game in hand and game vs them to come OR club in bottom 3 not expected to win don’t win but somehow miraculously score a goal, which other clubs in same position to all the time against top sides, and lose a tad less miserably with a little more pride in tact than before Xmas.
MOTD have a limited schedule, they have several possible narratives so they focus on the team with the most interesting one for the masses. The neutral fan would only care if Norwich had got some kind of positive result, anything else the feedback write itself, especially with Man City losing to spurs.
Obviously I want the world to wish Norwich well and praise our good bits, identify the mistakes Liverpool made, etc but I also accept TV programmes and most of the country don’t care!
I once foolishly expected that most clubs would back our sustainable model of existence because it gives clubs with fewer finances hope of competing at the top level without needing a billionaire. I thought I’d surviving might be a beacon of hope to everyone else! What a fool I was!! Really people like to complain about billionaire clubs until there is a sniff of them being one and then they’re all for them. I won’t be one of those people, because I care about football being the sport of the working classes. My only gripe is the season ticket prices. Not many working classes can afford those, so think our priority should be improving supply over demand to make the game accessible for people wanting to see it. I’m lucky that I have one but others less lucky. Ground expansion a must

I used to think similarly, but I'm coming to the realisation that we're damned if we do and we're damned if we dont. The billionaire clubs want us to fail because we aren't just following their business model and throwing money at it, whereas the smaller (poorer) clubs resent us for having parachute payments and think that means we're not self funding...

I used to love watching MOTD when I was a young teenage lad. Tube of barbeque pringles and lemonade whilst taking in the action from the day. Simpler times.

I havent watched MOTD since I was about 18. I wonder what happened
