mannings bandy legs 439 Posted December 28, 2021 Newcastle game v Everton on Thursday is off due to covid and injuries at the club. Would like to know just how many players have covid and how many are actually injured. Just appears slightly UNJUST!!
The Real Buh 3,765 Posted December 28, 2021 That game was getting called off one way or another. we should have been savvier here today and got ours called off
alex_ncfc 686 Posted December 28, 2021 I bet we never even tried to get ours called off. I'm sick of us being such a "nice club" playing by the rules. Make up injuries, say you've got more covid issues, get the games called off to make sure we are fresher, but no, we play 2 games 48 hours apart. No one else in this league has integrity so why should we?
Ian 1,209 Posted December 28, 2021 Should be transparent on the covid and injury quantities, why not tell us why Newcastle can't field enough senior squad members?

Unless we have a larger squad than Newcastle.
shaunieboy77 84 Posted December 28, 2021 Dwight Gayle and Almiron came on as subs. Hardly down to bare bones.

Darth Canary1 92 Posted December 28, 2021 They apparently don't have the minimum requirement of 13 players available.
Samwam27 605 Posted December 28, 2021 Ive said elsewhere FA needs to publish the number of players clubs have "out" so this is a transparent process. Seems to be suiting other clubs, yet we're to down to bare minimum and have to play
Ken Hairy 4,272 Posted December 28, 2021 We may as well just carry on playing and get them out of the way to be honest
GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 2,035 Posted December 28, 2021 There's clearly a loophole here that clubs can exploit. Obviously a positive covid case can be proven...but who is varifying when a player is injured or not? Are clubs getting games called off because one or two players (2 of newcastle's best players in their case) have slight niggles which take them over the postponment threshold, when otherwise they would ordinarily have played? Ulfotto 798 Posted December 28, 2021 I am very surprised it has not been mentioned more but Palace tried everything to get the Spurs game called off then made one change to the starting eleven…..
Beetley Yellow 57 Posted December 28, 2021 A quick Google suggests they named a full 25 man squad, but as I understand can also call from a list of U21 / contracted players, of which they named 47. So they can’t get 13 players out of a total of 72? A claim that they cannot field enough ‘first choice’ players must be a bit disingenuous compared to our situation today surely? I’m absolutely certain no ‘external influence’ was exerted by massively wealthy financial parties behind the scenes, no sireee, no way.

The cynic in me thinks if I had lots of money to spend in January on new players, the more games I can delay, and potentially replay after making new signings, the better. crispeduk 282 Posted December 28, 2021 This is all just sour grapes - it was perfectly clear that Saint-Maximim got an attack of Covid in his calf.
shefcanary 2,950 Posted December 29, 2021 Get off your throne Webber; demand from the EPL the evidence behind this decision and get it compared to Norwich's situation before today's kick off. Anything less and you really have to go.
GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 2,035 Posted December 29, 2021 By my reckoning, we could potentially have missing for saturday.. Krul Aarons Giannoulis Hanley Omobomidele Zimmerman Normann Rupp Rashica Cantwell Pukki...11 players , 7/8 starters. What is to stop us suddenly declaring that the requisite number of players to get saturdays game off are carrying 'injuries' , which is what I very much suspect Newcastle have done Who checks that these players are injured or not? Bradwell canary 112 Posted December 29, 2021 Its about time all clubs are forced to publish which players have refused the vaccine . If they have refused and get the virus, they should not be taken into account. Those who refuse are selfish and give no consideration to others. Some report say it could be 20% in the PL. Name and shame.......
