  1. Yawn. He moved a frickin' bag for Pete's sakes. In an old firm derby. A cup semi-final. And you seriously expect his own manager should give him an earful for that? As has been said it's about marginal gains taken wherever possible. This didn't even register. The opposing player clearly didn't think anything of it. Some fainthearted people (not you specifically) evidently want to create drama out of nothing. ..... As a footnote, there is no general, ubiquitous Asian culture just as there is no pan-european culture. Finnish culture is very different from Swedish culture, just as English culture is different from French culture. In the same way you are very far from the truth if you make the bold assertion that "Asian culture" holds good manners in higher esteem than what is the norm elsewhere. China and Japan aren't the same.
  2. I watched it again and nearly fainted when I saw Cantwell moving the bag. So shocking. In all seriousness though, is this all it takes to get worked up these days? Any excuse will do it seems. However I suspect if anyone else had done that nobody would bat an eye. If Hartson or Keane would have reacted to such non-events in the way you suggest they would've been sent off in every game they ever played in. It used to be a mans game, I'm pretty sure it would have taken more than slightly moving a bag to get that strong a reaction from the likes of Roy Keane. The guy was Japanese btw, so you might be right about him being used to a very high level of civility. Different story if he had been Chinese.
  3. I checked out the clip but can't see what the fuss is about. Where's the controversial bit? He quickly sprayed his hair with some water and took a sip, then handed the bottle to the next guy who took a sip. How shocking, how dare he! Bald people everywhere must be vomiting with rage after seeing such tactlessness! He should just play football instead of highlighting that he has hair! Water goes in the mouth!
  4. Agree with everything you said... I'm still amazed we got a full £20 million for Godfrey back in 2020, couldn't believe our luck at the time. And this transfer took place after he was a key player in the dreadful defensive line that cost us dearly and got us relegated. This was back when we had a young(er) Pukki up front, along with an on form Cantwell linking up brilliantly with Buendia now and then...
  5. Yup I can see that 🙂 There's a thread called "Peter Grant". Even that one is all about Cantwell. I'm not even going to try the one called "Tomkinson on loan to Stevenage". I'm sure it's a trap.
  6. Can't wait for this saga to be over. Mostly all the gossip and speculation is driving me nuts. Here I was thinking a new thread with a name like this with a lot of responses in no time would mean that something has FINALLY happened. Has it b*******. Nothing new under the sun. Was yet another Todd chain really needed for this??
  7. So Matt's "joke" was basically fake news. Obviously quite a few people would take it seriously given the circumstances and the damage would be done. Instead of a joke I'd call it irresponsible attention seeking garbage. This happens too often these days. Lies / fake news are posted everywhere, people react as the poster has expected and then the poster plays the victim by claiming it was only a joke and people should have a sense of humour... 🙄
  8. That's some really wishful thinking right there... Nobody would make such an investment in an out of form, unfit player potentially laden with some heavy baggage and with his reputation of personal trouble. Like him or hate him, this is the reality. He's not been a first team regular for a long time now and a couple of good outings against Stoke and QPR around Halloween won't have potential suitors lining up. Sadly it's the same old story we've become used to for a few years now... I very much doubt that anyone would be desperate enough to pay a transfer fee for him right now. Especially as a free transfer could be on the cards in the summer. It would be sheer madness for anyone to sign him in January. At the very most another loan deal for the remainder of the season could be on the cards.
  9. It feels like he’s dying to tell us, but can’t. Hence these messages on twitter. I don’t believe in any personal issues outside of football for a second. I suppose he’ll spill the beans when he’s no longer at the club. Hopefully he’ll get his move soon.
  10. For his peace of mind I hope he doesn’t 😀
  11. Seriously? Read the comments on here. But as @norfolkngood quoted someone above, all of this ”pretending to know” speculation stems from not having any real info to go by. Todd could be a bit more helpful. As it is, ofc there will be speculation and frustration.
  12. Possibly - in which case I’d strongly blame management for breaking a commitment, not Cantwell for reacting negatively. In this scenario he would first have been told that a move to Leeds is imminent. Then a season later, he’d have been let down once again. If that would be the case, small wonder his loyalty to the club would be exhausted.
