Top corner 201 Posted August 12, 2021 They are different types of midfielders, however, like you, I live in hope.

Capt. Pants 3,537 Posted August 12, 2021 As we have for our young players you would like to think that Spurs have a development plan in place for Skipp, or they intend to sell. I think our best hope of getting Skipp back is a deal linked to either Aarons or Cantwell. Similarly if Southampton are holding out for more than £25m for Ward-Prowse then Skipp could form part of that deal, if it's a position they feel they need to strengthen. Ollie is desperate to play for Spurs and I think he'll do whatever they feel is the best move for his development.
AJ 1,192 Posted August 12, 2021 Does anybody know how much Skipp featured in their pre-season? That might give us an indication, especially in the last few games, of how close he is to the first team?

AJ 1,192 Posted August 12, 2021 Just now, Peanuts said: He played in 4 pre-season games for a total of around 300 minutes. Damn, 75 minutes a game roughly, would say that's very involved. I think we're clearly hoping to still bring him back though, seeing as we haven't used that second loan spot and not signed another CDM. 1 minute ago, Ward 3 said: Relegation candidates would we say? I read an interview involving him saying that he was back to full fitness, hasn't missed any games, can't wait to play again and wanted to be part of the Spurs first team. Disappointingly he didn't once mention his time with us or getting a Championship winners medal, although the content could have been edited.
Samwam27 460 Posted August 12, 2021 Sky SPorts saying Spurs also interested in Sarr from Watford. Different type of midfielder, but Spurs are stocked in midfield We'll only know about Skipp on last day of xfer window I suspect. Squeaky bum time!
keelansgrandad 6,678 Posted August 12, 2021 Of course Skipp has really only played in the Championship and friendlies. We are certain he would be great for us even in the Prem but if Spurs are interested in other players then how high do they rate him?

g00se 21 Posted August 12, 2021 On the bright side, if Ward Prowse doesn't go to Spurs, he's probably going to Villa - which should end their interest in Cantwell for good. If Villa can't get Ward Prowse though....
chicken 2,485 Posted August 12, 2021 2 hours ago, TeemuVanBasten said: Not if he put his foot down and insisted on Norwich for his development. He wouldn't get a choice. At the moment he isn't available for loan so he has no choice of coming to Norwich. Southampton reportedly want more than £25m for Ward Prowse and they have lost another midfielder already. Maybe Spurs will offer Skipp as a sweetener, maybe Southampton will request him. Norwich isn't an option so far as Spurs are concerned at that point. Skipp will possibly get a choice to stay and face being mainly a sub or go to Southampton and get another year of experience. He'll not have the choice of Norwich in that scenario... Unless if he refused to go, Spurs then decide to look for another option - but there is no guarantee of that, and they could refuse to loan him to us to make a point - we know Newcastle have enquired, for example. Thingy 29 Posted August 12, 2021 Skipp is too light-weight to be a DCM in the PL for a team that will be defending a lot of the time. He would need a strong DCM and strong CB around him. Talk of signing a DCM but really we need 2 of them.

Appreciate your point about defending more but Skipp ain't lightweight, can't remember him getting pushed off the ball much last season, remember plenty of the opposite way round though! Thingy 29 Posted August 12, 2021 Yes, he got pushed away at times. He is good for a team who has a lot of possession (like we did last season and perhaps for Spurs) but not so sure against bigger and better players and defending a lot more of the time. He's at the very least the next Scott Parker, this kid is Premier League quality. Edited August 12, 2021 by TeemuVanBasten

So would you say the same about players like Kante and Verratti? Yes Skipp might be far from the tankiest-looking player on the pitch, but he more than makes up for it with his tenacity, bravery and athleticism (much like the former two mentioned). I cannot grasp how anyone could've watched us last year and concluded that he is 'lightweight'!
