*****Official Match Thread v Middlesbrough*****

Recommended Posts

Notice how the Boro players are just shoving/pushing the players they are marking, when the ball is away from them, just to put our guys off. The ref spotted one a minute ago but this needs to be addressed.

Niggly (Well it is one of Colin's teams)

Aarons is being completely marked out of the game. Not sure we have attacked down the right yet.

Get to see these things on the 65 inch 😉

Going to be hugely important that Buendia keeps his head today- not been involved, Boro will niggle at him too. As the game goes on his time will come.

Cantwell getting lots of little tugs, good job he’s got his gloves on.

We're not dealing with physicality well. Midfield looks a bit lighweight.

Boro have done a good job of pinning our fullbacks deep and not letting the midfield interlink as much. I haven't seen many exchanges between Cantwell/Bunedia/Vrancic in the central areas because Aarons and Giannolis aren't getting forward to create more space.

If they want to keep this half-press / half-sit approach, I suspect Onel or Przemyslaw could be looking at this and thinking they'll fancy a nibble.

Spot on, they've pretty much shut Aaron's and the new lad down completely and it's such a big part of our game. They're doing a number on us.

Having said that, if Vrancic had a right foot it'd be 1-0, maybe 2-0.

Emi booked, can’t really argue with that. Boro have grown into the game and apart from Vrancic’s poor finishing we haven’t offered a direct threat to their goal.

Feels like pace is needed, we havent had the ball long enough to pass them out the game

A tough watch. They've slowed the game down and frustrated us, lots of niggly fouls.

Need to find our rhythm. Giannoulis will obviously take time to get up to speed, but Rupp and Skipp doing okay.
