Midlands Yellow 4,682 Posted December 4, 2018 League 1 would be their level ordinarily when you look at the stadium and crowds that turn up. Do neutrals admire them on the whole or hope they drop through the leagues ASAP ?

Midlands Yellow 4,682 Posted December 4, 2018 They’ll do a bit of self funding in January when Wilson leaves for 30 million.

They are funded by Sky TV. Attendances of 25,000 would bring them in a further £10m. Sky paid Bournemouth £111m in 2017-18.
Trevor Hockey's Beard 606 Posted December 5, 2018 Things picked up for them when we stopped using them as our feeder club, and switched to using Leeds. Now it's Dortmund Reserves.

Where they actually there, or did West Ham count the season ticket holders, regardless whether they turned up or not? 2 years ago, a couple of us were in London and turned up hoping to pick up tickets for a West Ham home game. Ticket office told us it was a sell out. We tried to get buy backs, stood in the ticket office queue talking to their fans, they tried to organize some for us, with S/T holders they knew, who had spares, but we ran out of time, so it was a no go. The pictures on MoTD showed huge gaps, but the official attendance showed 55 off full capacity.
king canary 8,757 Posted December 5, 2018 I like the fact they've upended the natural order of things somewhat and I'd much rather see supposed 'big clubs' like Wolves go down than them.

Jack Barak 46 Posted December 5, 2018 Aren't they backed by a Russian Million / Billionaire? I thought they fell foul of financial fair play and had they not been promoted when they were they would have faced a fine and transfer ban? Not unusual but also not the 'little club' fitting against all of the odds story that is so often sold. The thing that annoys me about them is, as said above, is the love-in around Eddie Howe. He has done well there but the attention he gets is fawning. The fact that none of the big clubs have looked at him does suggest his stock isn't quite as high as the TV folk would have you believe. There are clubs that annoy me more but they are treated much the same way as Swansea were in the years when we were up with them.

TCCANARY 263 Posted December 5, 2018 Looks like thier plans to move into a new stadium are stalling, interesting that one of the reason is that they want to put every penny available into the team. The club has said that the scheme required “a healthy financial strategy” but that “every penny”, plus additional funding, had been put into securing its Premier League position. https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/16960288.cherries-stadium-update/

ROBFLECK 134 Posted December 5, 2018 It just shows how the big money (TV-money, etc...) rules the game... Doesn't matter what attendances you get , just how much £££ you cash in! Howe has done a good job over there, no doubt, but he's been able to achieve it because of the money coming in via Sky and the Russian bussinessman Maxim Demin... Highland Canary 78 Posted December 5, 2018 (edited) Owners with wealth essential to support competitive football at PL or chump level Edited December 5, 2018 by Highland Canary
wcorkcanary 4,784 Posted December 5, 2018 Good job that we have owners with a wealth of love for our Club then, isnt it. We seem to be competitive enough at the level we are playing at the moment, cant really ask for more.
king canary 8,757 Posted December 5, 2018 Their money makes a difference in the Championship but not in the Premier League- according to the latest figures tey've got the 16th highest wage budget in the league but finished 12th last season and may well finish above that next season. From the Guardian's in depth Premier League Finance piece - "Bournemouth made only £5m from match days at their stadium, which has a capacity of 11,464, but the Premier League TV deal delivered £124m. No further loans have been needed from the owners, the Russian petrochemicals magnate Maxim Demin, who funded Bournemouth’s promotion, or the US investors Matthew Hulsizer and his wife, Jenny Just." A wealthy owner is arguably more important for the Championship- it means teams such as Bournemouth can possibly push the boat out more in the Premier League as they'll have a softer landing in the Championship if they ever do go down. Quite agree cant beat having owners who love the club, who go to virtually every home & away game, support the youth teams & so much more
