  1. If only. A better board with him than without.
  2. Who is bitter? All I was trying to demonstrate is how winning the cup has become much more unlikely since the advent of the Premier League. For context, in the 27 years prior to the Premier League coming about (using 27 as the same sample size), fifteen different clubs won it. Of course, good teams still won it more often: Liverpool, Spurs, Man U - 4 Arsenal, Everton, West Ham - 2 Wimbledon, Coventry, Southampton, Sunderland, Leeds, West Brom, Chelsea, Man City and some other team - 1 I don’t think it’s particularly bitter or outlandish to suggest that the FA Cup had a more magical feel to it prior to the development of the Premier League, mainly because there was a seemingly reasonable chance your team could win it. The chances of that are demonstrably less now. Partly because of the increased chasm between the elite and the rest, money and also because it is seen as secondary to being desperate to finish 17th in the top flight. I don’t think it’s unfair to think that the magic has been systematically stripped away and that thought isn’t based on yesterday at all, I thought we played well, battled hard with 10 and at least deserved the chance at pens. It wasn’t to be. Would have been nice to have been there but...
  3. It is a bit depressing but isn’t new. Since the Premier League became a thing there have been 27 finals. 1/3 of them have been between “the big 6”. 24 of the 27 have been won by just five clubs: Arsenal - 8 Chelsea - 7 United - 5 BinDippers, Citeh - 2 Maybe that’s what makes the victories of Wigan and Portsmouth “magical”? Or maybe it’s just boring as ****.
  4. But those that were pining for more of somebody else's money now are the same that were pining for it then and they'd have ushered him through the door so quick his feet wouldn't have touched the floor before he was sat in the Directors Box. The Turners were brought on board with the idea that their considerable (paper) wealth could push the club on, once they'd done a bit of digging and seen the numbers involved they were outta there and have never been back since. And while there are only a few that truly know if there has been serious interest, all the evidence points to there not being. If somebody was serious and got rebuffed, the first thing they'd do IMMEDIATELY is go to the local press. Create tension, division, garner support, weaken the position of Smith&Wynn Jones; get some momentum behind you. It is unfathomable to think that someone that has acquired the kind of wealth we're talking about would be some repressed wallflower that would meekly accept it and skulk away into the shadows. If they've acquired that kind of wealth they will be almost certainly ruthless to the point of cruelty and quite probably corrupt as ****. They also won't wait for a For Sale board to go up if they want something. Absolutely moronic to think that they would; they'd just make an offer that the shareholders couldn't refuse. I doubt that ANYONE is that desperate to own Norwich City though. If (as has been predicted every time we've taken a backwards step) we're now in terminal decline then there'll come a point where we're in such a dire position that we'd become an attractive proposition for an Evans type to come in? Something to look forward to; you can even see how that goes in real time by glancing South.
  5. Under these owners it’s clear what will happen. We’ll sell all our players, make a huge profit and then miraculously we’ll still be skint. We’ll sack Farke after dropping to 19th after a bright start. We’ll bring in a club legend as manager, must be Huckerby’s turn. We’ll get relegated to League One. Max Aaron’s signs for Kings Lynn. Can no longer afford Cat1 status. Youth is scrapped. Relegated to League Two. Sultan of Brunei offers to buy the club but Delia says we’re not for sale. Neil Doncaster back as chairman. Conference. Season tickets remain at 20,000 because they’re all accepting mediocrity. PinkUn forum explodes. Club folds. Phoenix club forms as Norwich1010 in honour of Chairman. Mark my words. You heard it here first.
  6. Mair has gone to Kings Lynn for the season
  7. Sorry Indy, this is a load of pony. Nobody is trying to airbrush the history of football violence through the 70s and 80s; it happened. However, it wasn't ALL clubs causing trouble all over Europe because ALL clubs didn't make it and even if what you're claiming WAS TRUE, none of the other 91 football league clubs were involved in a night of sustained violence that left 39 dead and 14 of their fans convicted of manslaughter. When people are berating the club for being too poor to compete in the Premier League and not attractive enough for foreign investment they might want to think about the opportunities denied to us in the immediate years prior to the formation of the Premier League; the one time we had the opportunity to build a lasting profile and future legacy. Why was it denied? Liverpool and Thatcher. So, yes, I do hold a grudge and yes, I am still bitter. Not just for me but for the players that dipped out too. For the record, I'm not exclusively anti-Liverpool, I still hate Thatcher too. Her sweeping action that punished ALL football fans, clubs and players because of the actions of a few were a disgrace and her caging of fans and commitment to fencing, innocent or not, was a direct contributory factor to what happened in April 1989. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/worst-five-months-english-football-thatcher-fighting-and-fatalities-1985 So, while I can appreciate that Liverpool have been excellent this season and there can be no doubt about their eligibility to be labelled Champions, it still leaves a bitter taste. So **** Liverpool, **** Thatcher and **** the Premier League.
  8. I'd go for Lambert. Ok, his star might have fallen (if anyone "down there" finds it they'll probably sew it onto their shirt) and his halo has slipped a bit (lot) but I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to manage in a high-profile league again. In all seriousness, I wouldn't be actively seeking to replace the manager at this point. He has a proven record in the Championship and, should the unthinkable happen, deserves a crack at the top flight with a proper budget which would feasibly be the case IF the unthinkable did occur.
  9. Something needs to be done. Too many people accepting mediocrity as we sleepwalk to a relegation. A relegation that will make us the most relegated club EVER from the premier league. What a damning fact that is for all the Delia supporters. all they needed to do was spend £20-30m and we'd have been fine. Now I know some smart-behind will be along to say that had Fahrmann, Amadou and Roberts been signed on permanent deals that would have been more like £50m, but obviously I don't mean them. I mean cheaper players that were better. I also know that some other smart-butt will point out that we didn't have £30m knocking around and you can't borrow money to buy players, but, you don't HAVE to say it's for players, do you? It's a murky world is finance, someone would have lent us the money. And then there'll be the usual suspects claiming that there's nobody out there to buy the club - well how would we know? We haven't put it up for sale, have we? Stick a board up outside Carrow Road and see who comes for a viewing. Truth is we could have had Peter Cullum or Andrew and Sharon Turner or probably any number of other suitors. We never hear about them because they are clearly rebuffed before they get through the door. Apart from the Turners. And finally, don't try and alleviate the embarrassment of another reegation by saying that you can only get relegated if you get promoted, that's so LITTLE OLD NORWICH. We're going down with a whimper having not given it a proper go. Same as in the board room. Delia should have relinquished the reins the minute we got promoted and given the club to literally anyone that had more money. And then if they don't make it work, there'll be someone else with even more money until eventually we're owned by Bill Gates or someone and there is no more money. If it doesn't work then I'm stuck. But it will because money is always the answer. Anyway, no point whinging about it on here, that will achieve nothing. Back in the day we had protests and hired out halls and FORCED resignations. These days football fans can only be arsed to get out from behind their keyboards if there is a statue to form a circle around or an opportunity to punch a copper. Someone needs to get us like minded folk motivated and then we can elicit the change we all want. Let's get the band back together, where is NCISA when we need them?
  10. I needn't have worried. "Intrinsically, the concept was designed to match up Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side, with Tom Trybull deployed as a deeper midfielder to screen the central defenders and offer a ball-playing pivot to help break the Saints’ adept and intense press." "Trybull’s role was designed to get City playing through the thirds with progressive passes to Emi Buendia and Todd Cantwell from deep. Instead, Southampton used him collecting the ball as a trigger point for their press, and they flooded the transition to construct overloads."
  11. Ooft. I haven't read it tbf, I'd be disappointed if there was no mention of the transition or the press, though.
  12. Gunn Culverhouse Bowen Linighan Newsome Crook Buendia Hoolahan Ashton Bellamy Huckerby Not sure who is winning the ball back when we lose it, but we should score a few. But I could name another however many teams... Green Aarons Drury Watson Bruce Fox Townsend Maddison Eadie Sutton Drinkell As one example. And there’s still Disco, Holt, Fleck, Sherwood, The Doc, Bassong, Snoddy, Iwan, Krul, Francis, Bradders, Three Lungs, Deehan, O’Neill, Edworthy...Coney
  13. It's a strange one. It would bother me little; derby games are torturous, the place is a dump and they're owned by a shyster. I can concede though that it would be painful for their fans and even when they're baying at us like they've just emerged from the swamp on the way down to PR from The Station, they don't deserve that. Not all of them, anyway. However, there is never a game that I want them to win. Ever. So, even if I don't want them to go bust and cease to exist, I do want them to lose 10-0 every week and eventually, the net result of that will be that they go bust and cease to exist. And I am not about to start hoping they win the odd game, so... 🤷‍♂️
  14. I reckon we should recall the “lads” from statue duty If we want to see things change.
  15. I thought Aarons and Krul did well to keep it down to three.
  16. Yes!!! We’re doing this again!!! Come on then, indulge me. What ELSE are you going to do but have your tummy tickled? What are you doing that is different to EVERYBODY else? You’ll be saying that people are accepting mediocrity next...😂
  17. Our saviour and a true heroine. We'll always be indebted to her. Happy Birthday Delia, thanks for saving our club.
  18. Was never like this when Morty was around. Or Smudger.
