  1. pete. Stop chewing on life''s gristle.
  2. Well he obviously didn''t have a relegation clause in his contract if Sunderland can''t match his wages. I thought McNally insisted on this for everyone. Ho hum.
  3. I actually think he might be worth slightly more to Sunderland than the sum quoted. Especially when you see players like Hendrick go to Burnley for £10m. Crazy. But I wouldn''t be unhappy at the price mentioned. Maybe also a cheeky loan for Watmore in return ? He''s raw but very pacey.
  4. Hogesar, pete doesn''t drink. I mean what''s the point? You only have to go to the toilet afterwards.
  5. Maybe we''re going to hijack the Hart to Torino deal.
  6. My brother in law saw him at QPR. Said he was terrible, so definite no.
  7. Maybe a makeweight in a Brady deal - weren''t they interested?
  8. Come on Clint, be fair. In the January market, £8m for a proven Premier League performer was the going rate. I don''t think we overpaid at the time, though he obviously doesn''t look value for money at the moment.
  9. Haha Indy, have a good break. I too think AN will get until November. It would be odd to let him have these players, notably the younger ones, and not be given the chance to gel them as a team. But too many performances like yesterday and he''ll be toast.
  10. Are you going on honeymoon with Feed the Wolf Indy?
  11. But supporting City just isn''t working for you pete. I only want you to be happy.
  12. I hope Moyes is still interested. Even if there''s no time to bring in another striker now, bank the money and use it in January. There are plenty of others who can play his position better. But I''ve said before, he''s AN''s man and selling him will require him to eat a slice of humble pie.
  13. This is a fair and measured post Hank. But you must understand, it doesn''t have any place on here tonight!
  14. That Mike Phelan chap is doing well at the moment...😉
  15. I do think having Whittaker, even as a back up right or left back, is a mistake.
  16. Hey Archant. How about a weekly piece from a player''s perspective in the EDP. Nelson''s Column, I can see it now...
  17. Exactly Bethnal. It''s great when we pinch Pritchard from under Brighton''s nose but not when we lose out to Villa at the last minute with McCormack. Hell hath no fury like a canary scorned!
  18. Not unhappy with this, provided we don''t overpay -Transfermarkt has his value at the £2 to £3m mark. He seems to have spent his whole senior career on loan from Benfica since 2010 - not really sure what to read into that. But he does seem to fit the having "played and scored in the Championship" criteria and his strike rate at Forest should yield 14.275 goals over a full season (just for you Keith), which isn''t too shabby. And, presumably, there''s still loads left in the kitty for another?😉
  19. I''m loving the Nelson/Norfolk connection, so a definite yes from me. Nelson also said "Desperate affairs require desperate remedies."
  20. Bump. Hope we''re all happier than when the summer window closed last year... What are your thoughts to date Ricardo?
  21. Going back to the leather, IBT. Just out of interest, what was the best price per tonne you were quoted?
  22. I too would be happy for Naismith to move on, especially if it expedited the arrival of a striker for the balance of the squad reasons given above. We also have Maddison in that position. But Naismith was very much a Neil signing so he''ll have to admit a mea culpa if we''re to sell so soon after buying. If Sunderland are still interested perhaps they could dress it up as a best for all parties and just move on.
  23. Does anybody else think we will need to sell before any significant signings come in? I keep seeing references to spending the "Redmond money", but surely we spent that on Canos and Pritchard? People may point to the McCormack offer, but we don''t know if that was contingent on selling Brady or maybe Naismith, or both. If anybody has a handle on the likely remaining transfer budget I''d be interested to hear thoughts. I definitely don''t think we have as much to spend as some may think, and maybe it''s this which is really hampering the striker search.
