1. I''d love to know the ratio of Norwich to Ipswich fans on the Pinkun. Lately it must be at least 40/60 to Ipswich.
2. I never thought I''d say it, but I genuinely feel sorry for the Leeds fans. They seem to have zero luck, and a constant stream of s**t owners trying to cash in on the club.
3.
To convince you he''s the man for the job. Keep in mind he has no wins yet! Its 10 games from me.
I imagine you''ll give him 10, then 40, then 5, then 3 seasons, then 1 hour, then a lifetime contract, then call for his head. Then rinse and repeat for the next manager.
4. And let''s not forget the quality of the shirt itself. The Errea shirt, for all intents and purposes, is sh*te. Has anyone checked out the Brazil shirt? Yes, it''s more expensive, but the material they use is so much better than the cheap, plastic-like fabric from Errea. If this was actually true (and i''m sure it''s not), I would actually consider wearing my Norwich shirt out and about, rather than just to matches. No more horrible, sweaty, scratchy, sticky fabric to deal with, and a quality design that doesn''t look like a bargain bin reject from Primark. And while we''re at it, let''s update the badge as well. I know we''ve had this discussion before, but the badge is horribly oversized and outdated. And don''t give me this ''tradition'' rubbish. If you want tradition, then let''s revert to the early 20th century design of a solitary canary. Simple and elegant.
5. I am in agreement with all of the well-informed, reasonable posters. Why on Earth can''t we expect a manager to achieve mid-table security on a limited budget in the most competitive league in the world whilst playing attractive, stylish football; winning the majority of our home games and being successful away? It beggars belief that we should settle for this fool of a manager! Ahem. On a serious note, I''d say we go with Hughton for another season and see what comes of it. He''s proven himself as far as securing our Premier League status (I hope i''m not jinxing anything here), so it''ll be interesting to see if he can improve the football and the team for another season. I''m not suggesting everything''s wonderful at the moment, but it could be a whole lot worse! The reaction after the Sunderland game, even on this forum, showed that it doesn''t take much for people to see things in a little bit more of a positive light. So YES.
6. Villa, to see Lambo frantically fist-pump his way to the Championship. Cardiff, just to see Tan''s head explode Fulham, so we don''t have to play them ever again.
7.
Just going back to what NCFC have always been renowned for - quality, attack minded football, played with style, aggression and some motivation!
I always hear this kinda stuff from fans. Every fan thinks their team was built on an attractive, attacking style of football. Has there ever been fans who''ve stated, ''our team has always been renowned for dour, boring hoofball, and that''s how we like it!'' Perhaps Stoke, but I don''t know what they were like before Pulis.
8. So we want exciting, attacking football, scoring lots of goals and giving every team in the league a run for their money, but also with the understanding that we need to be realistic in our aspirations and accept that we''re pretty much where we should be in the league. So lots of 5-4''s basically? Seems like Hughton would be ok if he could get the team scoring and conceding more.
9.
How on earth do we not have the quality ?We clearly have the fukcing quality... top of my head2 Dutch National fringe players2nd Choice England National Keeper2 Irish Internationals3 Scottish Internationals15m worth of strikersBoth Bennetts and Redmond , 3 of the most exciting young players around The big problem is Cautious Clueless Chris!!It''s a case of too little to late, its his job to choose the team , formation and put the players in the win or die mindset. This is something he is failing at on a weekly basis. Our GD is so terrible it might actually cost us now. We should be sitting on more points and thats down to the management for not getting the most out of the assets available.Ill be glad when this season is over and we can remove him and carefully think about the future of this club, because this has been a terrible season. I just hope that we dont go down.
OR Our team is comparable in quality to those around us. What do you guys think? Do you agree with Nexus and think our team is vastly better than all of the teams around us, or do you think it''s similar in strength? Do you think our £15m strikers are vastly better in quality and potential than say, Shane Long, Benteke or Michu, or do you think they''re similar? Do you think our defenders are significantly better than say, Hangeland, Shawcross or Caulker, or are they similar? Do you think our midfielders are better than, say, Johnson, Sidwell or Zaha, or are they similar?
10. Wouldn''t it be wonderful if we strung a few wins together and ended up finishing 10th. We''d be in exactly the same situation as the end of last season. Everyone moaning about how awful we are whilst we again finish the highest position in a generation! Please, please let this happen! I''d have so much fun on here ;)
11. The main difference between LDC and City1st is that LDC doesn''t feel the need to disrupt threads with name calling and insults. He may post stuff that many on here take exception to, or be seen as being overly optimistic (how awful of him!) in his views, but I''ve never seen him resort to the gutter like others on here. The only thing I can say of you City1st, is that you''re slightly, just slightly, less offensive than Wiz. Well done for that.
12. I don''t know why everyone''s getting so tetchy in here. Oh yes, it''s cuz Lambert''s involved. He seems to bring the worst out in everyone. It''s like the ex-girlfriend that pops up and reminds you how much it hurt when she left. Anyway, let''s just consider the facts here: Lambo put in a piss-poor offer for Wes - somewhere around the 1mill mark, give or take. He''s obviously worth way more than that so it was rejected. Wes'' head was turned at the thought of a new contract with Villa and loads more cash, so to force through the deal he hands in a transfer request. However, until Villa offer anywhere near enough cash they won''t get him, so that''s that. Wes is hoping that villa will stump up the cash if they know he''s interested, but I doubt that will happen, unless Lambo''s found a few extra mill down the back of his couch. All of that is meaningless anyway cuz McNally hates Lambert anyway and would sooner rip off his own nuts and mail them to Villa Park than do business with him. That''s my take on it anyway.
13. I can''t help but feel that Hughton needs that little bit of luck on Saturday just to get some confidence back in the team. Their confidence looked shot to s**t in the cup game. They desperately need an early goal, whether it''s from a deflection or dodgy decision - whatever, just something that gets the players and crowd going. If we concede then i could see it going the same way as the Fulham game and Hughton will be bye bye. He hasn''t had much luck this season. Would love for him to get some when it really matters.
14. That''s the problem I''ve had all along with the animosity of the Hughton outers. Fair enough, we''re playing some pretty bad football at times, and it could be that we''ll just descend further down the table, but while we''re one win away from mid table mediocrity then surely you''re all being a little too hasty in your condemnation. Surely, regardless of the football, if we''re cemented in mid table we can''t possibly call for the manager''s head. He would be fulfilling the board''s requirements and keeping the club up. Currently this should be the only focus for the team. It might not be particularly fun to watch, but it''s the most important thing if you have the club''s interests at heart. If we''re sitting in 10th in a few weeks, surely can''t you all see that you''ll look ridiculous for your constant haranguing of the manager? I just don''t get it tbh.
15. I don''t know why people are so down on this. 3 million isn''t particularly expensive, especially in the January transfer window. From what I know of him, I think he could offer us some much needed energy and commitment, something a lot of people have highlighted as being missing from our play recently. Ask any Newcastle fan, and they''ll tell you he gives 100% every game, and is a great character in the club. Personally I think this is just what we need. I''m not suggesting he''ll be our best player or anything, but he''ll certainly give his all and work hard for the team. I don''t think his age is a huge issue, especially considering the relatively modest transfer fee, and he seems to one of those players that keeps himself in great shape, so I imagine he has quite a few years left in him. He hasn''t played much this season, but he seemed like a decent enough player last season. Doesn''t have the greatest pace, but has good acceleration, is very powerful, and doesn''t seem to tire too much towards the end of the match. Let''s face it, we could do with another winger, as our current bunch haven''t exactly been entirely prolific lately. Bring him on I say.
16. I don''t advocate lecturing members of this board, as let''s face it, no one is likely to change their views anyway. But I can understand LDC''s frustration. The pessimism, anger and outrage prevalent on here is a bit depressing. I read all this stuff and think, jeez, we really must be the worst team in Premier League history! Then I check the table and we''re 15th, challenging about 10 other teams to avoid relegation and get a decent mid-table finish. Have I missed something? Wasn''t this expected? Aren''t we working on establishing our premier league credentials? Haven''t we recently come up? Didn''t we know it would be a scrap? Yes, we haven''t been performing well lately, but it''s really not as bad as most people on here make out. I guess it''s the ridiculous overreaction that has pushed LDC to lecture. I can see where he''s coming from.
17. I wonder how many of those people saying that it shouldn''t be a big deal are gay or bisexual? Anyone? No? I love that you guys think you live in this wonderful utopian world where everyone shares your inclusive views and that all footballers feel entirely comfortable living in secret about their sexuality but I can assure it it''s not the case. The fact that Hitzlsperger felt it necessary to wait until he retired to come out should indicate that there are deep-rooted problems within the game. The macho nature of the changing room must be pretty intimidating for any gay guy. The ''banter'' or jokes that may be light-hearted and not necessarily intended to cause offence can still be upsetting for those guys concealing their own sexuality. This, along with the homophobic chanting from segments of the crowd, can only be eradicated through the willingness of those in the sport to accept the problem and be educated on it. To pretend it''s not an issue and everything''s fine is naive at best, and condemns those gay people within the sport to a miserable and frustrated life.
18. Haha! I agree, it would be better if he said that, but have you heard Hughton talk? He''s not exactly a great orator. I''m sure he''d like to say something along those lines, but without a script I guess he just has to throw out the usual footballing clichés and standard gumph. I really don''t know why people get so worked up about anything managers say in pre/post match interviews. It''s usually just a copy and paste job from match to match.
19. "Fulham are top class opposition" - devaluing our club again and bigging up the opposition. Hughton out! "Fulham are shite and have all the ability and tactical nous of a dry roasted peanut" - not showing enough awareness or respect of opposition. Another symptom of his tactical inadequacies. Hughton out! "Fulham are a football team participating in the Barclays Premier League. They''re based in Southwest London" - Stating the obvious. Hughton out!
20. You should post on here more often Drazen. Well said sir. Barclay.. I suggest you read the OP again, take a step back, take a deep breath and think about our situation. We''re in the Premier League now, not League 1. This is not defeatism, this is reality.
21. Christ, you lot at it again? The same s**t in every thread, over and over again. ''Quit derailing the discussion!'' .. ''No, YOU quit derailing the discussion!''. ''No, YOU!''. ''No, YOU!'' Ad infinitum. The fact is, Lambert''s gone, and he''s never coming back. He thought he was making a step up in his career at a ''colossal'' club and it''s evidently not working out, for whatever reason. He was suited to Norwich and everything seemed to fit for him, but that doesn''t seem to be the case at Villa. He''s a good manager, but his weaknesses seem to be far more evident now than they ever were at Norwich. Good luck to the fella, but perhaps his future isn''t quite as rosie as it once seemed.
22. A scintillating, awe-inspiring 6-0 drubbing of Swansea, with Hooper and Wolfie linking up in a breathless display of intuition and emotional connectivity. With the final goal, the new partnership unites in a heady display of passion and wanton desire, embracing and collapsing in the goal mouth for a massive make-out session. You reckon? ..no? Just me then.
23. Just a quick reminder.. Think it needs to be pointed out again... We''re Norwich City, not Man Utd (although we''re not far off at the moment). An away victory is not to be sniffed at in this league, regardless of how it comes about. I know this makes me a ''happy clapper'', because I should be expecting victories whilst playing like Barcelona, but I''m happy none the less. Well done Hughton. Well done the boys :)
