1. "Bobby Brennan wasn''t fast, but his body swerve had the full back heading for the stands."  Quote: my old chap, aged 80.
2. Everybody should be given a second chance, him included. But not based upon his behaviour when warming up.
3.
Have I got the right football site, there seems to be more threads about Ipswich and Keano than Norwich at the moment?
I enjoy reading threads about Ipswich and Keane, especially at the moment. I come onto this forum to enjoy myself.   End of.
4. It looks like automatic is already unnatainable. If we keep there or thereabouts, with ten games to go and having gelled, settled and with one or two new faces, then we could well achieve a play-off spot. I feel our squad will have greater depth than many of our rivals, and the long season will be beginning to take it''s toll on teams with lesser playing resources.  At least it gives us a positive aim. Am I being unrealistc?
5. Agree. Also, Andy Flower is beginning to exert his influence. No fannying around with that tough-nut in charge.
6. I lived in the area (Chatham) for a short time. Not a Norwich, but it wasn''t that bad. The "Sleepy  Medway Towns" relied very heavily on Chatham docks and the Royal Navy. When these declined, so did the area. The Gills ground is in the middle of a particularly rundown area of terraces and a scruffy station. In actual fact, it doesn''t look too bad in the photographs on Google Earth. I have never sat in the visitor'' s part, but from the areas I have watched, I always considered it to be a decent effort for such a poor and poorly supported club, The beer aint much kop down there though, well not to my taste anyhow.
7. The Doc. seems to divide opinions more than any other NCFC player in recent years (Croft included.) I personally consider Doherty to be" good enough at the back at the moment."  I think many agree with me on this. However, I have said before, that I would like to see him move on now. I would like to see Russel, Drury and Otsemobor move on also. A complete clear-out of all the main participants in our decline since Grant  is now necessary. New league, new start. This does not mean  that I single out any of these players for blame. Let''s begin afress. As for Doherty. He has been a stalwart in a difficult position for a number of years now.  His is not a class act, but class is not usually associated with lower league central defenders  (inc. the Championship.) and again: You do win a Player of the Season award at Championship level if you are a poor player. As many have suggested. there is more to Lambert''s handling of the Doc situation than meets the eye. It seems that he has been instructed to unload the high earners.  I also think that Lambert, himself enviages a completely fresh start with existing youngsters and his own  choices from the rest. GD is, I believe, only 27. He will reappear at a higher level as a central defender, albeit with a moderate club. I always thought him too immobile to be a forward. However, he is a proven goalscorer with his head. If we have to pay his wages, then he has some value as an impact player.         is
8. We always seem to accumulate too many players that we just want to get rid of,  for one reason or another. High individual earners are singled out for blame in contributing towards our financial plight, but waste on poor players in recent years is more to blame. How long would the list of these failures be? I begin with Grants brainstorms:    Strivhavka, Brellier, Murray and so on and so on. Given time, I would like to compile the complete list and then estimate the cost to NCFC. All clubs have a certain amount of waste in this way, but we have become experts at it. It is, I suppose just one more result of frequent managerial changes and the consequent failure to stick to a cohesive plan.
9. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
10. I used to laugh at Roland Ratzenberger (the F1 driver). Then the poor chap got killed.
11. Scapegoating, as usual. He has been better than many we have endured in recent seasons. Whilst not the best, Doherty was a good servant  (expression, not to be taken too literally) to NCFC. I fail to see how any player can win a club''s Player of the Season award and be as bad as some posters above suggest. OK, I am pleased with his imminent departure (maybe Cureton and Russel and even Drury can follow) because I feel we need a complete clear-out of all the participants in our demise, but I wish him the best.
12. Park and Ride. Good value @ £5.00. Pub next to ground. No problem with locals. Nice little lego-style ground.
13. Nobody''s happy. 14th. in the Premiership would be happy. BUT: It has been a lot better than I expected so far. It had crossed my mind that I might have lost a bit of interest by now and not bother to travel to any games. However, there is something about the manager that makes me happy. We''ll see. Something about the play that makes me happy, lots of effort and commitment, with some good skill.  Holt makes me happy, so to Smith and some of the other newbies seem the part. As a previous poster said, we now know we can pick up a few points in this league, that helps. I personally feel that we can now dispel any thoughts of NCFC slipping through to an even lower level, despite the fact that it is early days. Its not so bad after all. P.S. Results down the road also make me happy. Keep up the good work  Roy K. (the Suffolk Messiah.)
14. If we can manage to sit there or thereabouts (ie. just above half-way)  for the first 30 games, then it is not inconceivable that we may be able to make a late run to the play-offs. I make this assumption based upon the following: 1. Our new manager seems the part. Early days I know, but there is something there that gives me greater confidence in managerial competence than at any time since Worthy. 2 The current side  do not seem that bad at this level. I have been pleasantly impressed on occasions. The youngsters can only improve. 3. The deficiencies in the squad can be rectified by this manager during the next window. Given some money of course.  4. The crowd seems to remain positive and will give full support when provided with performances like yesterday 5. This is my unrealistic dream. Brummie talk is that Brady and Sullivan are interested in our club. My fingers are crossed at least. I realise that this is optimism from the bottom looking upwards, but that is our lot at the moment. So far,  this season has not been the horror story many of us expected (eg. Colchester?)  I am quite enjoying it. Of course, everything is made better by RK''s inevitable cock-up down he road. ITFC fans, remember the ones who gloated so much at our demise, are in a state of shock. Their messiah has been found wanting and their benefactor is a bit reluctant to release the purse strings. I thought things would be a lot worse.
15. If modern technology is available, then use it. The same applies to cricket. These games are too important to be decided by a refereeing or umpiring mistakes. Referrals may break up the game and may extend matches timewise but the spectator remains involved. He has access to the big screen and can make his own judgement. Crucial decisions made in this way can become an integral part of the game, part of the entertainment. They are in Rugby Union.  Everything progresses, everything changes. With technology, Strauss would not have been given out to a shocker the other day, and his dismissal virtually decided the game for me. With technology, the two  penalty decisions against us on Monday would have been over -ruled. We might have won.   We push forward the frontiers of technology in everything today, from medicine to motoring. Why not in this important aspect of sport,
16. That''s even better than the one Iv''e thought up for Declan Rudd: Declan Rudd, Declan Rudd, Declan Rudd. Declan Rudd, Declan Rudd, Declan Rudd.
17. The gloating now comes in poetic verse. The appointment of  the "thug" Roy Keane inspires artistic  talents hitherto  unseen in "dumb-town". What next? A performance of "Swan Lake" at half-time? Their own boards virtually have ITFC a shoe-in for promotion next season. As was the case last year, confidence abounds. Does anybody have a sneaking feeling, like me, that things may likely go pear-shaped down the road? Fingers crossed.
18. He was never that bad.  A youth product who played a useful part in our glory years. I''d have a Daryl Sutch in the team now.
19. Shorter break?  Per--lease!  Three months is about right and just about avoids overkill. Virtual continuous exposure could be to the detriment of the game. As it is, this break gives the sport the chance to refresh, with every season seeming like a new beginning. Interest is rekindled. It also gives other sports a chance to thrive without the competition from soccer and it gives us a chance to get involved with other sports without distraction.  It is the best 3 months of the year. Get out there and do something, even if its just the garden (or drinking in a pub''s garden) Besides, all.those poor, underpaid footballers need their fortnight in Margate, and a couple of months to recover from that.[B]
