  1. From Wikipedia : ''In a memorable 1997 UEFA Champions League Final in Munich, Dortmund faced a Juventus team featuring Zinedine Zidane. Karl-Heinz Riedle put Dortmund ahead shooting home a cross from Paul Lambert, just below the keeper. Riedle then made it 2 with a bullet header from a corner kick. In the second half, Alessandro Del Piero pulled one back for Juve. Then 20-year old substitute and local boy Lars Ricken latched on to a through pass by Andreas Möller. Only sixteen seconds after coming on to the pitch, Ricken chipped Angelo Peruzzi in the Juventus goal from over 20 yards with his first touch of the ball. With Zidane unable to make an impression against Lambert''s marking, Borussia lifted the trophy with a 3–1 victory.'' I absolutely love that last sentence. It shows his passion and desire, not being fazed by all the big names, a perfect example to set through the team. Almost what happend with Crofts re. Taarabt. The little known man had the so called championship superstar in his pocket all game!
  2. I do feel sorry for Wilbraham. He''s clearly playing above his level, but is trying his hardest. Unfortunately its just not good enough. He does some alright things for the team, a couple of decent headers, a few nice touches. But the fact is simple, he just doesn''t score, nor look like it! I''d sooner put money on Lappin scoring than him! I don''t think he wins enough of his headers, nor creates enough chances to make up for it either. The chance that nailed it on for me, was not the header from about 5 yards that he managed to give to the fat goalie, but the one he tried to bend it into the far post from just inside the area. You''d hope a decent striker would score that, or at least get it on target. In the top flight you''d see those buried for often then not. But instead, I''ve never seen a shot go so straight!!! I''d love to see Simeon given another shot, surely he can''t be any worse at scoring !
  3. One of the guys doing it on Saturday had some of the Nike Mercurial Vapors on! Didn''t help him much though...
  4. I think Nugent is a tad ambitious. Must be on a mammoth wage (30k plus), there must be a bit of prem interest. Plus, judging by his antics against us, I''d suggest that he doesn''t really like us. Quality player though.
  5. I''ll have you know, the X11 is a fine bus service from our fine city to the slightly less fine town of Dereham.
  6. If I was Lambert (and I most certainly am not, although my Football manager statistics say otherwise...) I''d give Chris Martin a rest, and start Simeon, and tell him to show us all what he can do, playing off Grant. I think this would get Chrissy fired up, as well as giving Jackson the opportunity to shine, which, if he doesn''t take, then he has a case for sitting on the bench.
  7. I wouldn''t be surprised to see Jackson want to leave any time soon. He must have been gutted yesterday, when we were 1-0 down, and Lambert brought on a 100k striker who is 31, yet clearly ranked above him in the scheme of things. And to see Korey Smith, and then Lappin come on ahead of him; without him getting a sniff, instead standing down near the snake pit ''warming up'' being practically a ball boy, must really frustrate him. Don''t get me wrong, I''m not questioning Lambert''s decisions, but I could see Jackson knocking on the manager''s door, asking him if he has a future at this club. I can''t see him settling to be the fourth choice striker, being a professional bench warmer. A bit of a shame really.
  8. Don''t know how fat Ronaldo hasn''t got a mention !
  9. Going back to Barnes, I''d take him here as a winger! Can''t imagine they''d want a lot if his contract is up in the summer, and he hardly plays enough for a contract renewal
  10. Great news. I think he offers more than people give him credit for. I don''t know where this idea which he''s a bad player came from, I think he would leave to another championship club, and do a really good job for them. Personally I think he covers for at least two other players, each costing 100-200k (and wages). His work rate and attitude is exemplary. He''s clearly really passionate, and can only be good for morale around the squad. A lot better than some journey man coming in for cover who couldn''t give a damn and just jogged around with some lackadaisical attitude. I think he''s probably our best crosser (certainly amongst the top 3) As for the goals, I''m afraid to miss a game in case he scores! I think we need to get him on some more free kicks! especially on the right hand side, bending them in to the the top corner! I remember when he came here, he used to be thought of as some what of a specialist. It does sort of annoy me when Chrissy Martin takes them on the right hand side, when the angle is totally against him (although I still think he''s quality)
  11. I had 2 season tickets in the Barclay for the Burnley game this season, cause the person I usually go with couldn''t make it, so my mate (who also had 2 season tickets in the N&P, same story there) came with me and we sat in the Barclay. At half time we thought, because we were shooting the other way, towards the N&P in the second half, we''d go and sit in his seats. So we told the steward on the door what we were going to do, and he let us go happily. Then when we got to the other side to go in, we were promptly told by some stuck up steward that we couldn''t go in, for some inexplicable reason, for which he refused to give. He then proceeded to radio all the other stewards to make sure we didn''t get in. We ended up having to just sit there for the next hour till the game was finished, during which time, the steward wouldn''t even let someone out of the ground to make a phone call, saying he wouldn''t be let back in. I was properly fuming. Probably was a stupid thing to do, but I just can''t see even a decent reason for it, nor could the steward. Stupid. We had 4 season tickets between us, and we could only watch a half of football. Some stewards like that just make a wrong name for the other 90% who are actually really decent people. Massive joke.
  12. My inside man has it on good authority that Jon Otsemobor is set to replace Lambert as the supreme tactician and motivator in charge of NCFC.
  13. I suggest we all start buying up the tickets for the Orient game and start singing our hearts out in support and convince him to stay the only way we know how.
  14. I''m going just because I don''t want to risk missing Lappin scoring a goal...
  15. I don''t see Rudd going out on loan, purely because then we have no cover for Ruddy if he gets an injury or something. No point loaning/signing a more experienced keeper to sit on the bench just so we can send Rudd out.
  16. What a god damn joke! ''Hoolihan the striker'' and ''Norwich struggled to put out a team'' just some of the gems in our short analysis. We only had 3 short highlights! Oh and ''suprise package Norwich'' when Leeds weren''t! Do they know who won League one comfortably last year ?
  17. I really thought today, that our centre back pairing looked top class. There''s a really good selection problem now. I don''t think we need a centre back in the window, as with Nelson, Ward, Barnett and Whitbread, we have 4, absolutely top class championship defenders. Whoever gets dropped next game for surely the return of Barnett can feel very aggrieved. Nelson was fantastic today, as well as Whitbread. He only really gets thought of as rock solid header of the ball, and although he made plenty of crucial headers today, he also made a couple of fantastic slide tackles and blocks. Nelson will probably start on Monday, alongside Barnett, to give Whitbread a well earned rest. I then think against Cardiff, Whitbread and Barnett will be the pairing. That really looks rock solid, with plenty of pace and passing ability between them. I can see a few clean sheets coming!
  18. I reckon this is a pretty shrewd signing. No point going out and spending 500k + on backup for Grant. Got a decent scoring record in a very average MK Dons team, and will do a job. Hassle defenders when Holt''s injured/suspended, score a few goals from set pieces and open play. Good impact sub as well, means we can change our style if needs be, and go more direct. As for the rush in for Saturday, why not? I mean, else we''d just have someone like OTJ on the bench, who wont do anything. He wouldn''t have been playing for MK Dons either, as he''d be registering with us No chance is this a replacement for Grant Holt. He clearly loves it here, is adored by the fans and is playing the football of his life. On top of that, I don''t want to tempt fate, but we have a real chance of going up! I don''t see why he''d want to move. Same goes for Wes, I mean, look at the way he celebrated on Tuesday with the fans. A massive smile on his face and that just doesn''t happen with someone who wants to move away. Things are looking very bright. I love you Lambert :D
  19. I sent an e-mail a couple of weeks ago about it, and got this in reply : Hi Jacob, I''m really glad you like it. I''m afraid right now i dont have any prints (i didnt really know if anyone would be interested) but it is something i am going to look into and if i can sort something out i will remember to drop you a line if you like. All the best, Matt If a couple of you e-mail him confirming your interest, I think he''d be more than willing to sort out a few prints.
  20. Even if it snows, I seem to remember we have under ground heating. I think there was a game last year when pretty much every other game in the league was called off, but ours was still on :)
  21. "Fair enough, he makes some good saves when the ball is in the air but when it is on the ground he struggles massively. He also seems to be nailed to his goal line when balls come into the box. " Please tell me you are joking ''he can''t save on the ground'' remember the Swansea penalty? really well struck, low into the bottom corner, and yet he managed to get down and get a really strong fist to it. Just get behind him and let him do his thing!
