In relation to Rays post about RM, here are the passing stats of our CBs for the Championship this season (from whoscored). Passing accuracy (total passes): Klose: (778) 77.6% Bennett: (756) 75.1% Martin: (758) 72.4% Martin does make 1.6 more passes on average a game than Klose, which is about a 3% increase. Then in terms of long ball passes (accurate/inaccurate): Klose: (71/83) 46.1% Martin: (84/106) 44.2% Bennett: (53/97) 35.3%

Don''t think Maddison returning definitely indicates that either he''s going to play much for us this season or that someone in his position is being sold. It is, however, shrewd of Neil to take a closer look at Maddison and the progression made, considering the predicament we''re currently in. Can always loan him back out at the end of the transfer window if it''s felt to be the best course of action rather than him remaining here.

Reckon there''s something in this. None of the current managerial team were defenders by trade. Surely it''d be beneficial, considering our current plight, to get someone in who''d be able to help in this area? Same could also be said for our strikers.

Benitez averaged 1.3pts per game for Newcastle in the short time he was in charge. If he''d managed them for the whole season, at that rate, they would have finished 11th, ahead of Everton and 1 point behind Chelsea. Also, if Benitez had had a summer to prepare and pick the players he wanted, it''s not far to suppose they''d have done even better. Newcastle have loads of money to spend, a world class manager, and a decent squad; they are, understandably, rated higher than us, which also means they have more pressure on them. Let''s see how they handle it.
