1. Not working for me either.Apparently "Player has received an empty RTMP URL" - everytime I try to click on Norwich City commentary.Oh how I love having to pay £35 a year for a service I''ve already paid for through my TV licence fee as punishment for being an exile who then has to travel 120 miles to home games.
2. Our fitness in general looked lightyears behind Colchester''s, but in particular the back four (well three, that''s probably not fair on Drury)Doherty just gave away free kick after free kick and just couldn''t keep up with play. He needs to spend a few weeks pounding on the treadmill until he''s fit enough to compete at a League One level.
3. All the teams we faced in pre-season must be laughing at us now. Whereas they ran out for a fitness top up, and dusting off the cobwebs, we were considering our pre-season to be the equivalent of the World Cup. Just more embarrassment.
4. Strong opinion, called it how he saw it, held no punches.Brilliant journalism and an excellent video. Well done Mr. Lakey.
5.
WORTHINGTON    - P280 W114 L104 D62 WIN% 40.7% GRANT                     - P54 W18 L24 D12 WIN% 33.3% RIOCH                      - P93 W30 L32 D31 WIN% 32.3% ROEDER                   - P65 W20 L30 D15 WIN% 30.8% HAMILTON             - P35 W10 L15 D10 WIN% 28.6% GUNN                      - P 20 W 5 L10 D5 WIN% 25.0%
Dear oh dear. Can someone email this to the board of directors? Truly frightening. You also have to take into account that Worthy spent a season with us in the Premiership which will have naturally brought down his win ratio. Does make you think, the board may have made error after error, but boy were we wrong when we turned on Worthington...
6. If one more person uses our unbeaten pre-season as a reason to keep Gunn on I think I''ll cry.I like Bryan Gunn - he''s one of the nicest, most honest guys around... he''s Norwich through and through and would do absolutely anything to help the club succeed....but then again, so would I - but I''m not a football manager and neither is he. I can''t honestly think of a single reason why he should stay in charge, because he''s shown absolutely nothing to suggest he is ever going to be a football manager. 20 games in charge, and with the exception of the Barnsley game where the players were free from Roeder''s grip for the first time, it''s been the worst 20 games in the club''s history. I don''t know how anyone can defend his record, or yesterday''s defeat.
7. Yeah, but it was against a Blackburn side that later went on to win the Premier League, it was away from home and we were in the top division of football in the whole of Europe.Today we lost to Colchester United, at home, on the first game of the season in Division 3.
8. And the Asics logo was off-centre.And the v-neck was massive. I hate v-necks with a passion, they should be banned
9. Everything you said is spot on.As news of new signings and board members come through, the despair has slowly begun to change to optimism in some quarters, it seems that the initial anger of relegation has turned to acceptance for a lot of people. This isn''t a good thing - the board shouldn''t be given the chance to ''put things right'', because we never should have gotten into this situation in the first place... the problem is, it''s difficult to maintain that anger in the close season when the club are apparently trying to rebuild and clearly, there''s not a lot we can do anyway.
10. Things went wrong for Gow (and ironically, the entire team too) when we brought in Alan Lee and broke up the Gow and Mooney strike-partnership.I''m surprised so few people seemed to see or discuss it, but after we "dropped" Gow from his forward role with Mooney our relegation fight came to an abrupt end - we stopped scoring goals, stopped winning games and then got relegated, all so we could accomodate Alan Lee''s role at the club.
11.
That is what most of you on here are effectively proposing. Blindly suggesting that we keep Clingan and lose him on a bosman instead of selling him for £1m+. Lets assume that he is already on at least £6k a week. Lets assume that we reject a £1m transfer fee for Clingain in order to keep him at the club. That £1m transfer fee equates to £19,230 per week for 52 weeks that we have lost. Add this to his estimated 6k a week wages and it would cost this club £25,230 per week to keep Clingan for the duration of the season, only for him to leave at the end of the year on a bosman. I have said it once and I will say it again, we should offer Clingan a contract extension and if he doesnt take it then we should cash in. People are saying that we wouldnt go up without Clingan, thats ridiculous, he scored 6 goals last year. 25k per week in the wage budget could fill a lot of gaps that one man in the middle of the park cannot, for a start it would be enough to sign Alan Lee, a right winger, a left back, a centre midfielder and a goalkeeper. Thats why Ian Crook doesnt know the transfer budget, and thats why it rests on Clingan. I would support a Clingan sale if he doesnt want to sign a new deal.
It''s all good selling him, making & saving money at the same time, but so many times before we''ve sold players like him for profit and the money has just dissapeared completely into Carrow Road''s financial black hole - I''d certainly back the Clingan sale if it meant we brought in 3 or 4 decent League 1 players with the cash, but you and I both know that won''t happen.
12.
Mark Rivers did take penelties though. And the majority of Croft''s goals came this season. He was one of our top scorers, so no way is our relegation down to him.
Sorry, I didn''t mean relegation was Crofty''s fault, just that by him being our player of the season just shows how bad the rest of the team really were.Croft''s actual contribution to games in terms of goals and assists was relatively poor, but because the players around him were so much worse, it made him look by and large our best player - and I think he will be found out when he steps into a half decent side.
13. Apologies for starting another Lee Croft thread, but I found this to be an interesting statistic. The fact that Croft has only scored 9 goals in 131 games kind of puts things into perspective a little bit, as he walks out on us citing a better future for himself elsewhere; it''s no wonder we were relegated. I think he will probably find that the grass isn''t greener - at best he is a lower standard Championship winger and our abysmal plight has given him, and us, a sense that he''s better than what he is.By contrast, Mark Rivers scored 11 goals in 82 appearances and Ian Henderson even managed 6 goals in 78.
14. Hmmm, let them keep my money so experienced League One managerial mastermind Bryan Gunn can go out and spend it on new players of his picking...No, you''re alright thanks. Tempting, but no.
15.
The opposite side of the coin is this quote from Gareth Southgate... "I have to accept there will be a large percentage of fans that would want a change of manager and this is a tough time for this football club but I am determined to see this fight through," he stated. "As far as I''m concerned, you don''t walk away in difficult times." So who''s right, Southgate or Sbragia? Something tells me the same people would have been complaining either way and that Gunn would instead now be getting abuse for lacking bottle.........
I don''t think anyone would abuse Gunn for lacking bottle if he stepped down. Despite how bad things turned out for Peter Grant, he got a lot of kudos for admitting he was out of his depth and stepping down.
16. Looking at the table, I don''t think there are any other teams in League 1 that play in yellow - when exactly are we going to where it?
17.

" I do feel the club needs a bigger name i took over in a difficult situation, i was asked to keep the club up and i achieved that .I could have been selfish and stayed on but i felt it was best for the club for me to step down" Well said Ricky Sbragia , if only Mr Gunn wasnt so selfish.
Here is one for you.  Mr Roeder (Tuesday night of this week): "I kept them up once and I think I would have done a second time but they decided otherwise." Discuss.
I think he would have to be honest. All he needed in January was a striker to replace Lita and I think he would have been able to find one. Instead Gunn got the job and immediately went about upsetting the whole squad by releasing Lupoli, Bell and Omosuzi. The football played under Roeder was by and large superior to the crap Gunn had us playing by the end. Kick and rush crap that ultimately relegated us. At least Roeder believed in playing the game in the right way i.e. trying to pass the ball. I don''t know Gunns football philosophy but as a goalkeeper I would say its pretty limited.
Hang on a minute - Lupoli, Bell and Omosuzi weren''t getting in the starting lineup when Roeder was here - how did getting shot of them disrupt the team.As for the standard of football under Roeder - it was abysmal. Gunn''s was no better, but your post it delusion in its purest form
18. Robert Green in this month''s GQ:Why I Chose Norwich City"I had trials at a few London clubs such as Spurs and Crystal Palace, but I chose Norwich because it had a successful academy. When I visited, they showed me a picture of the first team and half of them had graduated from the academy. I wanted to be a pro and that made it seem possible."Why I Left Norwich City"When I first moved to Norwich I thought it was great. I know lots of people immediately think of Alan Partridge, but it was a great town for me after leaving home. After I''d been there for 12 years I decided to leave. Norwich were no longer in the Premiership and I felt like I needed a new challenge. However, the manager wanted £4m for me - a ridiculous amount of money for a Championship goalkeeper. It really annoyed me. After giving so much service to the team, I felt let down and unappreciated. That was the final straw for me."Why I chose West Ham"I was going to go to Charlton, but then Alan Pardew called me from West Ham. He really sold the club to me, explained how important I could be, and fired my enthusiasn. After the way Norwich had treated me, it felt good to be wanted."He goes on to talk about not being picked for Enlgand how that doesn''t bother him anymore, as well as climbing Kilimanjaro for AMREF last year being his proudest ever achievement. Bit cheeky of him to hold a grudge just because Norwich tried to get as much as they could for him - football is a world of business afterall - what did he expect, we just give him away for free because he had been a good keeper for us?
19. He did a piece in this months'' GQ too, where he mentioned Norwich in a negative light. I''ll type it up later if I get a minute.
20. You could always bump it yourself. That''ll be fun for you.
21.
Ok, to everybody on this message board who keep on moanin and moaning about the state of the club - DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT IF YOUR THAT BOTHERED!  I am not at all happy with the state the club is in, player-wise, financially and at board room level.  But it''s too late too do anything about it now, the time when a group of fans should have taken the bull by the horns and started a demonstration has come and gone!  It should have been done months ago, but instead everybody just sits on these message boards moaning and whinging! There has been one decent post on this message board since i have been viewing this and that comes from the chap who''s post made it into the EDP following the post from the Liverpool supporter. Now for the optomistic part...............I am looking forward too next season, i really am excited at the prospect of Gunny and his team assembling a squad which will compete at League One level next season, and although at the time i thought the introduction of Gunny wasn''t a clever move, i have since thought long and hard about this, and after what him and the rest of the management team experienced last season, who''s better placed to WANT to do EVERYTHING they can to put this right except the current management team?  There is very little money to work with, we all know this and all moan about ''where the money has gone?'' but it''s now time to get behind Norwich City Fc more than ever.  We have a man who is very much loved and respected as our manager and a host of ex city players amongst the coaching team who ''care'' about this club. Even though i''m only 24, i''m very much a traditionalist when it comes to football and going to away games.  I love going to grounds with character and maybe even a bit run-down, but thats what makes it fun!  All the new stadia that is being built is the same old same old!  Big one tier bowl shapped grounds with no atmosphere - HOW BORING!!!!!!!! I am looking forward to going to the likes of Oldham, Exeter and so on next season!  Old crappy stadiums with an atmosphere are far more fun to visit! I have faith that Gunny and his team will assemble a decent squad for us next season.  There are enough released players and out of contract players to assemble the core of a decent side, but we just need to entice them to Norwich, which let''s face it....with our facilities and support shouldn''t be hard! So stop the moaning because it''s getting very boring now.  As i said above, the time of demonstrations has come and gone and it''s now time to support Norwich 100%.  get behind us in League One, because at this moment in time that is the level of football we deserve to be at.  But we can do it next season, i really believe with a few shrewd signings and the removal of useless dead wood (Jon Otsemobor) we can be a fantastic team next season, and have a couple of emerging stars from the youth.   I''m fully behind you Gunny, i hope you get a decent enough budget to play with this summer to get some dedicated players into the club.  Come on you yellows!
You think the time for demonstrating has come and gone so we should just get behind the team and clap now we''re in Division 3?When Gunny arrived you thought it was the wrong appointment, but after successfully steering us to relegation, you now think he''s the right man for the job? You''re looking forward to playing Oldham and Exeter next season?Hmm, interesting.
22. You have to love these dodgy transfer stories - who writes them? And do they really sit typing away thinking that the world will be stupid enough to believe them. We''ve got more chance of winning the Premier League next season than Leroy Lita joining us. It''s bonkers.
23. Worst bit is undoubtedly this:"There really is no such thing as a free lunch. It may well be possible for an owner to make a profit out of a football club - that, ultimately is what ''investment'' means. But that profit would, in all likelihood, come at a huge cost to the club itself."Well good job we didn''t take up Cullum, because his taking over the club and turning into a business that makes a profit would come at a huge cost to the club. Although, I''m guessing that "huge cost to the club" probably isn''t quite as bad as the non profit-making-business route that sees us squander millions and end up getting relegated to Division 3. [:|]
24.
Thanks for that but i just think you might be pleasantly surprised. 20,000 crowds will attract the better players willing to play in that division.
Great theory, but it''s not exactly worked for Leeds has it? And Forest took an age to get out of this division too. Not only that, but we''ll also be competing with Charlton and Southampton who will both be getting similar crowds.
25. I''d love to laugh this off as another ludicrous thread started by a member of the knee-jerk-reactionists......But after witnessing the very real demise of Luton Town, and the complete financial mess clubs like Southampton have found themselves in, it''s something we really shouldn''t be joking about. After all, back in 2004 when we were hitting teams for five on our way to the Premiership, who''d have thought five years later we''d be in Division 3 with a hospitality man given the managers job?
