1. Looks like the combination of Premiership rejects and overpaying for lower-tier Championship players isn''t proving a success.Drinking the tears of the Villa fans after today''s defeat, apparently it could have be seven.
2.
So far we only have Richard Money (Academy Director) and the physio left from before Webber''s appointment. Irvine, McAvoy, Kiely, Spearing, Ricky Martin and Darnborough all gone. With this guy Weaver being Academy Director for Huddersfield, you''d hope he wasn''t after Money''s job [:P]
Sounds like Money''s leaving. Pity, thought he was supposed to be pretty good, especially as Huddersfield seemed light on young talent coming through.
3. I believe Mr Davitt had asked the question, and Union Berlin seriously didn''t want to sell.
4.
If it''s broke, fair enough .... mend it, but what advantages are there in this new way?
Statistically, the team going first had a higher percentage of winning, so it''s an attempt to provide better balance. Though now it appears to favour the side going second [:P]
5.
Sean Raggett, been discussed on another thread???
Nick Mashiter from the Press Association (who is very close with Webber) said we were looking at him again, but there''s been nothing concrete about a move.Though reading the Lincoln papers, sounds there''s a good chance of him  leaving Lincoln soon.
6. I did wonder if we''d let him go on a free to Rangers.Midfield''s looking pretty crowded with Reed, Tettey, Trybull, Stiepermann, Vrancic, Hoolahan, Madison, Pritchard (when fit), Watkins, Murphy, Wildschut and Watkins.
7.
Centre Back will be next
Are you trading transfer information with Herr Farke for cheesecake? [:P]
8.
Cheers. Broadstairs is a little tetchy tonight? I did indeed head straight to youtube and found a whole pile of 3 year old videos and on google some guy in Germany who feels we''ve been done. Just fancied reading something positive about our new player whom as said twice already,I''ve never heard of.
We''re talking about a guy who at 17/18 was making the odd substitute appearance for Jurgen Klopp''s Borussia Dortmund. So whilst he had great potential, never really lived up to it, and ended up bouncing around the Bundesliga 2. The reports are that he''s got class, but is inconsistent. Moving from a number 10, to holding midfield, and to left back probably hasn''t helped him.We were looking for a midfielder with physical presence, and he''s 26 and 6'' 2", and even if we paid a million for him, that doesn''t buy you anything in the English/Spain/French/Italian leagues.Arguably it''s a calculated risk, but we seem to be doing okay with our Germans so far.
9. Googling him it sounds like a Nigerian bank account scam.
10.
Too many German players and if Farke one or another way failed ,very soon most of them will try to go out from club too. Obvious think is that English market is very overpraised but still 7-8 Germans is too much imo. Fingers crossed dressing room to be settled and in good mood after all this new German import.
We currently have four German players: Zimmerman, Franke, Trybull and Stiepermann, and Vrancic is a Bosnian with German citizenship.Trybull is on a one year deal, and with Zimmerman coming from the German fourth tier on a free, I doubt he''s on much money at all.
11. On the scrimmage Webber had said they were looking to bring in 2-3 more. A Physical midfielder (presumably Stiepermann at 6'' 2"), maybe another midfielder (presumably Trybull) and the third seemed to be dependent on injuries. If another''s coming in, I''m guessing centreback/right wing back. Maybe Sean Raggett from Lincoln?
12.
Out of interest Bethnal, did you come to our recent forum, you could have asked him your questions there or chatted to him at the end?
Playing devil''s advocate though, even if he had attended, so much has changed in the last three weeks, that new questions would have been raised anyway. That event was the day before the Franke signing, and before Jacob Murphy had left, and arguably some of our recruitment was dependent on how well certain players performed in the friendlies. We''ve gone from a state of flux to a point where the squad should be fairly settled, whilst still needing a few extra bodies. It''s a shame that the final two minutes of the show finally asked the pertinent questions of what positions were we still looking to recruit for. But left no time for any follow up or discussion.
13. The comments from Webber today about Clarke-Salter (about Premiership loanees needing guarantees of first team football) probably extend to Bielik and would explain why we''re considering a cheap centre back.
15.
Something/somebody seems to be leading us to pick up these youngsters on a consistent basis. Starting with McGrandles, to my memory, it has carried on with Thompson, Godfrey, Ebou Adams and the jewel in the crown, young Madisson. This boy, a young striker from Belgium(?) The youngster from Liverpool can be added to the list. (I''ve likely missed one out.) What a heartwarming policy. Is it partly due to our academy status? Never known it before at the club. All of them seem to come with promise and good write-ups which makes it a win-win situation. If they don''t make it with us then they will likely have a decent sell-on value. Supplemented by our own in-house youngsters (especially Efete and Lewis) the youth policy at Carrow Road continues to buzz, which has no negatives whatsoever in my thinking.
Given Webber''s background in youth recruitment at Liverpool, and his appointment of Keiran Scott and Chris Badlan as head of UK and European recruitment respectively, who he worked with at Wolves (I believe primarily in youth recruitment), I think youth will be the focus of our recruitment. It''ll be interesting to see if we sign anyone that isn''t from a German league or a youth player.
16. Hard to say. I think the weakest positions or positions that might need strengthening are right wingback cover for Pinto, centre back cover, centre midfield and striker. Gunn, Pinto, Husband, Zimmerman, Franke, Martin, Klose, Reed, Tettey, Maddison, Vrancic, Hoolahan, Pritchard, Naismith, Murphy, Watkins, Wildschut, Jerome and Oliveria totals 19. Throw in whichever of McGovern/Jones/Matthews is the backup keeper and Toffolo/Lewis for back up left back and that''s a squad of 21. Godfrey would make 22. Webber''s already said we wouldn''t be running a squad of 25 experienced professionals any more, and that it would be more like 18 experienced players. With three centre backs popular, another needs to come in,but that looks to be filled by Clarke-Salter. So it depends if Farke and Webber think Martin/Godfrey/Wildschut is good enough to back up Pinto, and whether two from Vrancic/Naismith/Maddison/Hoolahan/Pritchard is good enough for the Championship or we need another reinforcement.
17. Thought the Pinkun had said we had a £8m overdraft and £5m of the Murphy money was being used to reduce it.
18. So far we''ve seen Farke favouring a 4-3-3 that switches to a 4-1-4-1 without the ball, or playing a 3-4-3. With two centre backs he''s favoured the Franke-Zimmerman partnership. Since it''s his first game, and away at that, I reckon he might be tempted to go with a little more steel in midfield (especially with Naismith out). Gunn Martin Franke Zimmerman Husband Tettey Watkins Reed Vrancic Murphy Oliveria
19.
Getting back to the subject on hand - which unfortunately was hijacked by TY - has anyone heard any more rumours about another potential German import?
"We may have arrived back here earlier but there''s more from Germany heading your way in the coming days!" I interpret that as "We still have more tour footage we haven''t shown you yet"
20. Wouldn''t be surprised if Bournemouth had wanted him back just to mess with us a bit.
21.
When you say risking everything though how many ckubsbof a similar stature to us have actually got into financial difficulties and remain in a worse position than us? Not many to be honest. Even Pompey are now only a league behind us. In our own league maybe Scum and Forest spring to mind. Leeds, Wednesday etc have all had their struggles but will start next season on pretty similar odds to us I would say for promotion. People keep citing disastrous takeovers but the fact is clubs of our stature don''t tend to go to the wall because they are too big a part of football and their local community and generally get saved somehow. This notion that all foreign owners are evil is not true and frankly is a bit xenophobic.
Add Coventry for starters. Owners SISU have some kind of bizarre hostage situation going on. Coventry are now down in League 2, don''t own their own ground, and even played a season in Northampton.
22. When Warburton left Rangers, they criticized his recruitment. Doesn''t look like much is changing [:P] I had to explain to the Forest fan in the office the difference between Jacob and Daryl Murphy
23. I believe his preferred formation is 4-3-3, which reverts to a 4-1-4-1 when we don''t have the ball, with Reed in the defensive midfield position. Though he played 3-4-3 at Stevenage, and 3-4-3 and 3-5-2 at Cambridge.
24. Based on the team Farke put out tonight Gunn, Godfrey, Franke , Zimmerman, Lewis, Reed, Vrancic, Maddison, Murphy, Wildschut, Oliveria  Aside from Husband for Lewis, and with Pinto, Klose, Pritchard and Hoolahan injured, I''d say that''s pretty close to the starting lineup. We had McGovern, Matthews, Jerome, Watkins, Martin, Tettey and Naismith as subs.Jarvis to be melted down for glue. I can see Toffolo being sold due to Lewis''s progress. So ultimately we probably need another striker, a Howson-esque midfielder box to box player, and maybe a loan or two to cover rightback/centre back.
25.
I struggle with all this TBH. We are now told that the club was mismanaged by Bowkett and McNally. I don''t really see that. We did the best we could for a club rising so quickly and they managed to get us back after we were relegated in 2014. But that difference in income would be difficult for anyone to negotiate. How would you guys get around it? Especially those of you who don''t want the club to be debt free?
The season we went down with Neil Adams, we had £7-8 million to spend. We''d planned to break even, but not paying out the Premiership bonuses made us a profit. Looks like the Alex Neil relegation already factored that in and spent that money.Problem is that we''ve bought badly for a few years, and have decent but aging players on salaries that are larger than their footballing ability.I think Webber''s trying to strip it back and use what we have now to rebuild, rather than pray we go up this season and have colossal problems if we don''t.
