  1. Maybe the FA would take notice if we (football fans) impacted the main driver of football, I.e. television revenue. We need to come to a mutually agreed really offensive chant that can’t be ignored by the TV coverage! Any suggestions? “Stick VAR up your ****! F*** off!”?
  2. I struggle to understand why you even need to post this, but you are absolutely and utterly correct in what you say. People seem to exist in such a short-term bubble (see all those who will vote Tory to “get Brexit done” despite the fact that trade negotiations will only start we’ve left and will go on for many, many years). If we go down and come up again - and I fully acknowledge it’s not a given, but: we will be much stronger financially and will be able to make the investments that the short-termers were asking for this season.
  3. We have the ability to achieve this, we just need Emi playing at his best, every game and for at least 60 minutes of every game. Can Farke get him back?
  4. This is the part I don’t understand. It happened in international football, why not in the PL? Otherwise you have two people judging an incident, whose starting point going in may not be the same. I’m sure the ref would have stood by his decision about the Godfrey penalty in the Man U game even if he had watched it again for five minutes, as the VAR official did. Plus, what happened to the “clear and obvious” part of the description of VAR? We now have offside decisions (and penalty box encroachment) decided on a hair’s breadth. For me, if it’s marginal, they should go with the footballing equivalent of “umpire’s call” in cricket, and let the original decision stand.
  5. The conclusion I would draw is that there are no simple conclusions (also see: Brexit).
  6. The CAMRA position is that ‘beer’ (real ale, whatever that means) should be “cellar temperature”. So colder than room temperature, warmer than fridge.
  7. This is in the Guardian today: This, in many ways, is how Amazon implants itself in our lives: subtly, seamlessly, insidiously. It appears and it disappears at the same time. First it takes over your bookshelf. Then your music player. Then your food cupboard and the items in your drawers. Then your evenings in front of the television. Self-worth gets delivered promptly to your door within one working day. It’s all so easy, so frictionless, you don’t notice the 30-day trial you forgot to cancel, the data you’re giving away for free, the factory workers denied toilet breaks, the small high street bookshop with closing down signs in the windows. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2019/dec/03/amazon-prime-video-tv-football-premier-league-broadcast-stream?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  8. Agreed, but I was trying to say if it (Tettey alongside Amadou) happened this season, I wouldn’t bet against it working out.
  9. It takes a couple of goes usually, but the streams I’ve watched this season have been pretty reliable. Despite having Vodafone “broad”band. My main worry is that our only smart TV is the main one in our living room, so I somehow have to outvote my wife and my daughter to claim it.
  10. I agree. If we go down I would think it's pretty much going to happen. And I agree it's unlikely they will play in midfield together, but I wouldn't be horrified if it happened, they might surprise us.
  11. Anyone who holds onto an Ajax/Norwich scarf in the hope of selling it at a later date, has to be the definition of an optimist!
  12. Did you buy one Lakey? Sounds almost like you did. 😂
  13. I always wonder about the sellers of these. Did they order them specially this season and then throw away the ones they don’t sell, or do they have a shed full of the lesser fixtures waiting until we play Sunderland or Yeovil again?
  14. Me too. Is a utility defender like a utility knife, i.e. he can cut, open bottles and remove corks?
  15. Amazon Prime is yet another method to convert us all into the Amazon Borg. If they want us to buy everything via them, the least they could do is pay a fair level of tax. Having said that, I'll still be using my son's Prime account to watch the match. 😳
  16. More like those putting bets have little idea what they're doing, not what is actually being considered by Watford.
  17. I don’t often agree with you MP, but you’re right on this one. If viewing figures dropped, the BBC would probably look to change things about the program. If they’re staying high, they will assume they have a satisfied audience.
  18. Can Til help out here with some examples of pictures he’s found on the internet?
  19. I don't want to get into one of those back and forth exchanges we get on here about this topic, but:
  20. I can't see many, if any (now I want to type Dennis Srbeny) disagreeing with this. I do want to see Dennis on the bench though! He's definitely fast becoming a cult hero.
  21. Yeah, but unless they engage in a way that Jim agrees with, it doesn't count.
