If this group gets us promoted
Newtopia replied to JonnyJonnyRowe's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Maupay might be a replacement for Barnes, if we need someone to wind up the opposition, not sure he brings a genuine threat - he will be very expensive. When he was at Everton, he only scored 1 in 29 games. Admittedly he has improved at Brentford this season, but that is in a team creating a lot of chances. I am expecting us to have a tough time creating if we go up. Most importantly I think we need a hard working replacement for Sargent (in case of injury - we are toothless without him even at Championship level) -
If this group gets us promoted
Newtopia replied to JonnyJonnyRowe's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I would welcome Adam back, if we went up Knapper has a huge task, we need a new defence, a replacement for Barnes, and a CDM, plus some shrewd squad fillers. It would fascinating to see his wish list for the promotion option, I suspect promotion would mess up his club reorganisation plans. -
For me this is the point, Wagner isn’t blooding the youngsters and doesn’t fancy Knappers loan. Can only end badly for us, especially if Wagner stays.

The game in hand

Lets all sing together, play up the sky blues. com’ on Cov -
Perhaps as a momento at the Milan or Rome derby. After that the purchaser needs to be banned from all forms of football for at least 3 months.

Adam Idah did not publically run his team down, and let’s be honest he was great against West Ham in the premiership, and has simply looked like a player who needed a positive run of games for several years. TC is talented but he had a corrosive effect on the club for a long time. A real shame and I hope he does well in the rest of his career but I am prefer Adam and genuinely hope his career kicks on.

It is less about the points total now (Although we do need enough), more about the momentum. The one to watch is Sargent, if a weeks rest would make a significant difference to his recovery I would do it, if not keep up the performances.
-
I can’t see him wanting to return. He got very little used a scapegoat by a significant number of fans. It is also an easier league.
-
He is one of the best people in the country at being a referee, although he may make a decision or two we disagree with, he will make those decisions better than over 60M other people in our country would.
-
It is interesting to watch, he has been really effective, and done it in a professional well organised way. Showing lots of potential. I think he will leave whether Ipswich are promoted or not. His cache is unlikely to ever be higher. i had been thinking he may go abroad, Rangers or possibly the a German side. It would be a huge step to go to United and I doubt the fans would be very impressed.

Left back contract situation a little worrying?
Newtopia replied to JonnyJonnyRowe's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Personally it is a wider discussion about the squad than just Dimi v Sam. I assume we have been talking with other players ourselves and we also have the young lad Lima (Sorry.I meant Montoia) coming through. Personally I am comfortable that we have a plan although I would like Sam to stay. I think he is a competent left back, and his heading ability gives us an added threat. -
Who Do We Really Want In Play-Offs
Newtopia replied to Midlands Yellow's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I still think we have to perform well to qualify for the playoffs, it isn’t going to be easy and only 6th is realistic - hope I am wrong. Once we are there, I genuinely would want Ipswich, I think they are the weakest of the top three. Then a final against WBA would be my preference. The way things are going, I am expecting Leicester, and if we get through that Southampton. These would both be difficult. -
It will be fascinating to see how he does, he is having good season, is he proving more effective than Bali did last season?
-
I agree, better to help them, although sadly there does need to be an element of punishment to show people who don’t breathe rules that they aren’t being treated unfair. A reduced punishment with 75% suspended on the basis that they go into a treatment programme would surely help.

The English National Anthem
Newtopia replied to dylanisabaddog's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
An ‘English’ anthem, and one which avoids too many references to the past, and celebrates what could be would be awesome. -
These Celtic links are pointless, they do not seem to have the cash to back up their amibition. If Idah leaves for less than 10M why are we doing business with them? A replacement will cost more.

Webber makes the national news
Newtopia replied to dylanisabaddog's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Absolutely he said he wasn’t interested in woman’s football and suggested it wasn’t very good. I am not suggesting it was anywhere near as bad as his recent comments and the issue is that he is a director of an organisation which is trying to grow the Women’s game. He is entitled to say what he thinks, but shouldn’t say so whilst he is DOF at a club trying to grow its women’s side, who are paying him a significant amount of cash. -

It was a pretty awful thing to say, and let’s be honest will put a lot of future employers off him. Tbh right up there with his comments about women’s football. He really should think carefully about whether he is suited to a directors role. Straight talking / spade is a spade types are great, but not if they don’t care about football played by half their potential customer base nor the feelings of players from a different back ground. -
England v Brazil
Newtopia replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Totally agree I am looking forward to the success we had under Taylor, Capello, Erikson, MacLaren, Alladyce, or Hoddle. Back to some brexit footy. MEGA - let’s make England great again. Steve Bruce is available….. -
Surely this is too simplistic a comparison. Sometimes you need someone to unsettle defenses
-
Currently he would be filling the right wing role rather than us playing Sara there is a weird composite version of a winger.
-
Genuinely he would have helped significantly during the current winger shortage of 2024, would you rather have received the transfer funds for Mumba, and spent the transfer fee on Fassnachet or kept Bali. There is no way to check the decision but the latter still appeals to me. Equally I do understand the rationale for allowing him to leave when we did, it just seemed cheap and we replaced him with someone who doesn’t really proved energy or incision in the same way.
