  1. Not really getting ahead of anything, just proposing that Newcastle's millions may well have been better spent not giving their (and our) rivals a large budget in the transfer window buying an average player. Burnley seem to have spent some of it well and their owners have some pocket money. Newcastle have a £10m striker they paid £25m for. Wood has scored 3 goals this season from 19 starts, can't imagine Burnley fans are too bothered in having a new head to launch balls at. I hope both Newcastle and Burnley continue to be total tripe.
  2. Username on Twitter. I think it's a private account though.
  3. I think my argument is that actually the £25m is reasonable value to them had it actually weakened Burnley (which appears to be the strategy), but it seems it hasn't, so, why didn't they just go out and buy a better striker - like Weghorst. They've essentially (potentially) funded Burnley's improvement and given them some pin money. It just looks really naïve from a Newcastle perspective.
  4. It's interesting purely because Wood was only worth £25m to Newcastle, he's probably a £10m player to anyone else. Burnley got lucky and found a potential upgrade and pocketed the rest. Newcastle on the other hand could and probably should have bought Weghorst for £15m, but their gamble in trying to weaken their opponents has fallen slightly flat. I used to have a grudging admiration for Burnley in being able to survive but their playing of the postponement system has erased any goodwill I had for them. I hope Weghorst is an absolute donkey's backside and flops like bojo's hair after a work meeting.
  5. To be fair it has meant Normann could be back playing for us in the next league game. It also let Ivan Toney go and make a total bell-piece of himself on social media.
  6. I don't think we have enough to keep us in the league either tbh but we're competitive enough to keep it interesting for a little while longer.
  7. Part of me admires the nuts not to do anything. We do have a decent size squad as it stands now - and that actually did us no favours during the covid fixture suspension period. I'd have like to have seen Gilmour go back when he was injured and had him replaced with a specialist defensive midfielder, but it's down to who's available. Clubs logically don't tend to let decent performers go out on loan so anyone bought in would be a risk. I just hope to god Normann comes back in and looks even better now he's pain free and PLM, Sarge and Idah continue their decent form. Keep Rashica & Pukki fit and actually it's not a horrendous side.
  8. A big name, and a once great player, but has he played since the summer? I suppose time will tell, but I guess he will be used very sparingly initially, and in that case is he the player to dig you out of a relegation scrap?
  9. Burnley even started to put their hands in their pockets. We'll either come out the other side of the break the most cohesive unit or looking like the team the media love to pan for not spending any money.
  10. The irony. Actually your assumption is that a season ticket holder has been in place for 8 years. If you became a season ticket holder 2 (or probably 3-4) years ago a 9% rise would indeed be out of kilter. So you are incorrect in that sense.
  11. That's not how it works. But bless your heart for trying.
  12. A 9% rise would probably be enough for me to cancel out of principle. You cannot preach financial sustainability, and then use working families to sub the wages of millionaires. A rise of current level of inflation is the only acceptable increase.
  13. Do you get a new manager bounce out of 30+ year old players? I think that's more their issue. Foster, Femenia, cathcart, kabasele, rose, cleverley, sissoko, King - all 30 or over - it's an aging squad who will be a bit more resistant to change and have their own ideas. Their only hope is getting Sarr back into the side, the manager is irrelevant. Long may their model continue to reap absolutely nothing but spazz Pozzo's cash up the wall.
  14. Much more comfortable having him available otherwise we were an injury away from playing someone very pedestrian like Dowell or Cantwell in CM. I'd imagine he'll feature but it would be unfair to cut PLM and Sorenson, so I guess it will be as a sub.
  15. Tzolis is struggling with the intensity of Premier League football at the moment, he appears totally over-awed by it. I think there are flashes very occasionally that there is a player there, I've only really seen fragments of it in the Newcastle game. Otherwise he's been a passenger and we can't afford to carry anyone at the moment. Idah, given the confidence the Everton game will have provided, starts over him, no question about it.
  16. With the Everton performance in mind, physically we are perhaps more up to the task this time around especially with Sargent dropping back. They will have their tails up and see us as a nice way to get back on track. Tom Cleverley was a sh01thousing little tw.. when they came to us, so important that the ref sees it for what it is and gets the yellow cards out on them early. I can see us getting a result purely because Sarr isn't available -we need to capitalise. WAT 0 - 1 NOR
  17. Need a complete recruitment team that have been in a coma for at least 6 months, no access to the internet, no access to anyone outside of NCFC, and only archived Radio Norfolk coverage of our games in the Championship to go by. If we can find someone like that we can get at least £20m.
  18. This has Lampard all over it. They have money, they have the name. The squad isn't terrible and have been underperforming so it's an easy-ish ship to turn around. If he fails he can point and say Ancellotti and Benitez couldn't solve it either. Probably have to fly him to Dubai for the interview though.
  19. Pukki Pies has always been a strong branding opportunity. Not sure it aligns specifically with Teemu's dietary intake though.
  20. This is part of the problem. Clubs are now actively discouraged from giving u23s first team game time because an appearance means that they are then considered part of the senior squad for COVID purposes. So, it's in Burnley's best interest not to play them while they wait for their strongest players to return.
  21. When they have Cornet, Barnes, Gumundsson and McNeil back. It's not great.
  22. Yep, like Leeds with Raphina, Everton - Richarlison, Newcastle - Saint-Maximin, literally every other team seems to have at least one player who on their day is totally unplayable. Cannot be understated how much influence him missing has had on them. Last time he played they beat Man Utd in November, they've picked up 1 point since then. He's due back on the 8th Feb, hoping that return is delayed and he doesn't regain any kind of form this season.
  23. Amazing. Garth Crooks is well up there with the most clueless pundits I've ever had the misfortune of listening to, but in this instance I agree!
  24. Other than Saturday he hasn't really done much worth singing about yet.
