  1. I don't really understand the 'loan with an option to buy' deals. I suppose they're designed to favour the club receiving the player, but it's hard to see how it benefits us. If he bangs in 25 goals for Huddersfield I'll be annoyed and we can't keep him! Same with Soto.
  2. I'd really like to see them get a decent loan this season and see where that leaves them/us. I was quite intrigued when we signed them and would like to at least get a look at what they can do with some game time, ideally in the Champ. Like King Canary it does sometimes leave me feeling uncomfortable the way these things work out. If I remember correctly, both players seemed really excited and hopeful of joining a top 26 English team like us, but have had so little chance, partly through injury it seems.
  3. Thinks LBGT+ equality is 'propaganda': tick Doesn't like feminism: tick Anything else you want to add to the list in this thread alone?
  4. Please no. 25 plus and I can accept. Wouldn't be surprised if it was low 20s. If at all. And WHY HAS IT GOT TO BE VILLA!?
  5. Chill out. The point being made was perfectly valid and not remotely graphic. As for the time of day, what difference does that make?
  6. I think VAR being used relatively well at this tournament probably puts an end to any hope I had that we'd ever see VAR done away with. From my personal experience it seems like the tide of public opinion is moving towards accepting/celebrating it, which I find really depressing. I think the way we experience goals in football has subtly, and permanently altered - we now celebrate goals with about 65% of the emotion we used to - the other 35% is reserved for "VAR might rule it out". I imagine those in favour of VAR would say the pay-off for that is fewer ref mistakes, and that that is a fair swap? Personally I've never been as angry at a ref/linesperson's mistake than I have when VAR ruled out our 2nd against Spurs.
  7. These, although the Errea one may have looked better with black shorts (i.e. less like pajamas)
  8. With that attitude how will it ever get any better? And where does it leave girls who are growing up dreaming of being footballers? Also, I've watched a small amount of Sunday League park football, and the standard was pretty laughable, doesn't mean I'm going to write-off the whole men's game. Unless you meant you'd watched the women's football on TV (World Cup, WSL etc), in which case you're wrong about the standard being laughable.
  9. It's a conversation about women in football, which has been reignited by the recent news surrounding the depiction of women by our new sponsor. If that's considered 'an obsession with women' than maybe the topic is a bit too grown up for you?
  10. Emi will be in shock when he realises it's Villa and not Villareal he's signed for.
  11. When we sold Maddison I thought we were done for, but the following season showed how much the rest of the squad had been relying on him, and when he went they all had to step up - plus we had to replace him (Emi), so I can only hope a similar sort thing can happen again if Emi does go.
  12. I will genuinely stop supporting the club if this happens.
  13. Do you know how big canaries are? It's a ping-pong ball if anything.
  14. I see this argument a lot, but I just can't see how that will clear it up. If there's a margin of error, or it 'favours the attacher', or switches to some other system, it will still continually throw up results which anger the team the decision goes against. If there are still going to be human errors then I'd rather it just went back to how it was - i.e. human errors that don't a) hold up matches or b) stop players/fans being able to celebrate goals.
  15. Exactly this. I despise it when clubs strip their badge of colour and outline, it completely defeats the point of the badge, which is surely to identify which club the shirt belongs to? The only thing that stopped me getting this season's 3rd kit was the idiotic badge. Wearing that shirt out and about most people wouldn't know who the club was, thus rendering wearing the shirt pointless. Why are we trying to make a badge 'classy and stylish'? It's not a corporate logo for a new online bank, it's the crest of a 119 year old football club. (yes, I know it has been changed before, but I wasn't alive then). As you can tell, I feel strongly about this!
  16. What experience and what ability makes you think he's going to excel in the Prem when he didn't leave any real mark in the Champ? I'm 100% in favour of keeping hold of him and giving him a lot more of a chance than he's already had, but I definitely remain unconvinced he'll have a big impact next season.
  17. I've retained my tickets for Wembley but gave up my Munich tickets. I was wondering how many people had got refunds - I assumed not that many (why would you really?). Feels like they need to let us know pretty damn soon so we can work out travel plans.
  18. Oh let's just get Ribero back. Judging by their website we'd be the biggest client they've had since the last time they made our kits. And they still have an NCFC testimonial on their site. http://www.riberosportswear.co.uk/Ribero/Testimonials
  19. People are saying it's a worry that we've lost to 2 of last season's Prem teams, but unless you think it's realistic to expect us to win literally every match this season, we're going to lose some matches. We either lose those few matches to the other best teams in the league, or we lose to the weaker teams. I know which I'd be more concerned about. Which teams in the history of Championship promotion haven't lost some games/had disappointing performances over the course of their promotion season?
  20. Well we've gotta play Vrancic as he traditionally scores our Championship-winning goals.
  21. Urgh, no, Luton fans are awful, I want Watford to beat them for sure.
  22. Loved it at halftime when Hugill (and only Hugill) came out onto the pitch and was patting each player on the back. He's great for this squad. The Sky commentators mentioned his team-spirit before he came on too.
  23. Pretty sure they started that final attack well within the 4 minutes. I don't remember feeling like it was a time issue when they scored - refs don't blow bang on the suggested minutes, wherever the ball is, nor should they. And the suggestion that our players should surround the ref more is bizarre. It's like suggesting we should dive more and kick the ball away to waste time etc. We want less of that in football, not more.
