  1. A couple of Fenerbahce players really go for the fans. Nice to see plenty of the classic 'running onto the pitch in flat-soled trainers' slips. Personally I think the Charity Shield should be played in trainers. That would be entertaining enough for me to actually watch it.
  2. Not sure England have had a great kit since Italia 90. We're sadly cursed with a boring set of parameters (plain white, minimal flashes of navy and/or red trim). Euro 96 and World Cup 98 kits became iconic for people of my age because of those tournaments, but aside from that, virtually nothing stands out. This new kit is quite smart but in 10 years no one will be able to place it in time (unless we win a tournament in it). I would love to see what Adidas would do with an England kit, especially if they'd made our kits in the mid-90s!
  3. One of the most erroneous statements I've ever seen on this forum.
  4. Other people may also have heard on the commentary for Saturday's match, that apparently Jordan Hugill was sat in amoung our fans for the Middlesboro match. Love that! I know Maddison also did this for at least one match when he was at Leicester and we played Wolves, along with another player I think, but I forget who, maybe Ruddy? Anyone else know any other examples of former players showing this lasting allegiance to us?
  5. I think he's been fantastic throughout this recent run of better form we've been on. If we end up in the playoffs it'll be in large part due to his steadying performances after some very sketchy defensive games last year. He dug us out of some dangers against Watford on Tuesday. Personally I'd have him slightly ahead of Duffy at the moment.
  6. I think he was probably being realistic. Not many managers would be jumping around when we'd just equalised mid-way through the first half of a game we were being dominated in. And of course he wasn't overly celebrating Sainz's consolation goal, because it was a consolation.
  7. I can't see him making anything like the sorts of contributions Onel has been making off the bench since Christmas, so there's no need to keep him as far as I can see.
  8. He literally didn't put a foot wrong. Why does he get such a hard time from people?
  9. Lots of people are saying we need to start our strongest lineup because of the potential revenue from playing Liverpool, but it is a valuable part of cup games to give second-string players game time. Literally every club plays weaker line-ups in the cup for that reason. I'm sure that won't stop people moaning when our line-up is changed though.
  10. You're acting as though talking positively about your own club is some sort of suspicious conspiracy, it's bizarre. Surely the people who devote almost all their energy to being negative and critical of their own club is more weird?
  11. There really is some excessively negative dross on this board sometimes. Some people are commenting on him like he stole all their Christmas presents or something. Let's be honest, how much are our midfielders offering our strikers at the moment? Who is realistically expecting Barnes to have banged in goal after goal since he came back from injury with this service? Give him a break. And people slagging him off for getting wound-up by a Millwall team literally elbowing him then persistently surrounding him like jackals. Which team do you actually support?
  12. Replacing Wagner right now would be daft, and sacking him because someone else 'better' suddenly became available would be totally classless.
  13. And the Wire's precursor, The Corner isn't bad either. Nor his recent show, We Own This City. Loads of the same actors.
  14. I would say that the standard of the Prem seems to keep getting better and better, faster than the Champ, and therefore the difference in quality between it and the Champ is also getting slightly bigger season on season, which sort of makes the Champ look a bit worse, even if it is still the more competitive league. Sometimes when I watch MOTD in the evening after watching Norwich, I do think 'Christ, this is different level'.
  15. Presumably SOME of that treatment was justified at points in the 80s?
  16. The sort of scenario refs probably have nightmares about. Attacking team could have intentionally missed the penalty if they were being really sporting, seeing as how there was literally no advantage gained by the opposition for that handball.
  17. Does anyone else find that watching Sheffield United this season triggers past trauma from watching us in the Prem in our previous 2 top-flight seasons? I find it uncomfortable to watch these Blades games because I know EXACTLY what that feels like - especially losing to Burnley at the weekend. It's hard not to watch those games and then wonder why I'm so keen for us to get promoted - I mean, that's almost inevitabley what's in store for us in the top flight, right? But then, I see Idah score a last minute winner and it makes my weekend! The life of a Canaries fan I suppose...
  18. I'd really rather not become a club that 'achieves' things by abusing 80 year olds who have devoted decades of their life and finances to this club.
  19. But is that surprising coinsidering the highs we had under him compared to what has happened since? We haven't had anyone who has inspired the fanbase anywhere near as much since. You then also factor in the way Leeds were so keen to snap him up and you start questionning whether we were right to sack him. The more time goes on the more I regret that we did. That squad we had in his 2nd Prem season was not good at all.
  20. What worries me most is that the wins against Cardiff and QPR didn't seem to positively impact our confidence. We still capitulated last night. Admittedly the injury to Hwang didn't help, and conceding 2 goals so close together.
  21. Delia and MWJ are hated, abused and blamed when we're on a bad spell, ignored when we're doing ok, and if they're lucky, treated to a handful of cursory platitudes when we win the league. What a job to put all that personal money, time and energy into. It's almost like they genuinely love the club and want what's best for it...
