  1. So far we have sold Snodgrass and bought in the two strikers. How much are you quibbling about cheep cheep?
  2. Great news are far as I''m concerned. The bloke has been nothing short of an utter disaster and has cost (and is still costing) us a fortune. We simply cannot afford to risk another season of RVW playing like he did last time around. I saw absolutely nothing in his style of play that would be suited to championship football and personally I couldn''t be more pleased that he''s gone. Get rid of Bassong now and try and build some team spirit based on everyone pulling their weight and not thinking they are too good for this level.
  3. Regardless of where the blame lies for the tour the real worry is how much it will effect our preparation. It''s about building stamina, fitness and match sharpness. How much of that have we lost due to this mess up? Hopefully not that much as the three remaining games are more of a test.
  4. Not sure it''s that extreme. I''ve always felt you need two players for each position to cover for injuries, suspensions etc.
  5. Like all City fans I really want him to succeed but I have serious doubts that it will happen. After last years abject performances can he truly complain that he has drifted down the pecking order? I don''t think so. If the drop in standard allows Ricky to regain his confidence and the goals start to flow then I hardly think having a number 20 on his back will make any difference at all.
  6. Neither in my lifetime - after all I''m over 40.
  7. Agreed with the US and German anthems but not so sure about the French. I like the Italian one. Unusual to get an almost jolly tune for an anthem. God save the Queen is awful. Pretty much the worst around, both the tune and the sentiment. Land of Hope and Glory is much more suited to our history and spirit.
  8. Come on LDC this is all getting a little transparent and tedious. What this and all the other lectures are about is your insistence that if only the supporters had stayed true to Hughton and supported him through the tough times then all would have come good eventually. Exactly as you said it would. It''s a kind of inverted "I told you so". This lecture has the same theme as all the others. It''s trying to lure out the "I want Adam''s out if I don''t get instant success" comments. You can then come back (again) with "true supporters stick with the club through thick and thin" just like I did last season.
  9. I agree LDC that we have a better chance of succeeding if every aspect of the club are pulling together. The point you seem to miss however is that it is the art of good management to foster this. It involves motivating the players, good public relations with the fans, playing attractive and winning football, etc. When all these things are in place confidence builds and the rest follows and builds it''s own momentum. The converse is also true and poor management will produce a gradual downward spiral (al a Roeder). You really can''t go on suggesting it''s down to the fans to do this. We have a part to play, certainly giving support to the new regime is essential, but maintaining and building the mood is down to the club management.
  10. How on earth anyone can argue to keep RVW is beyond me. What has he done throughout an entire season to suggest he was not a total disaster? I can think of one goal, one top save from a keeper and a challenge against Spurs. That''s it! For a whole season!! Sure Hughton didn''t play to his or any other strikers strengths but throughout a whole season there would be glimpses. Hooper showed much more. This season is going to shape our future for years to come. Decide to risk that on what we have seen so far from RVW? No way.
  11. You can hardly find two different personalities than Royal and Marshall. I don''t see to many respected managers singing AM''s praises.
  12. What an unbelievable post. Pathetic. The guy has a good record everywhere he has managed, a wealth of experience, an ex-Norwich POTS and is trusted and wanted by our manager. What more do you want?
  13. Spot on Seattle. If all you do is pass sideways then you''re bound to have a high completion rate. Johnson does try and prompt the forward play. Christ half the people on here are quick to point out that our forwards had nothing creative to work with, hence their lack of goals, and then extol the virtues of our crab like midfielders. Plenty of areas where Johnson''s not the best but plenty of good attributes too. Letting him go would be a big mistake
  14. I''m a binman. Let me know where you live and I''ll make a special effort to leave half your pizza packs and needles on the doorstep. You, nor I, know what Adams'' qualities are for this post, or what the player reaction is likely to be. I have reservations, particularly concerning attracting new players, (I assume the director of football will have an enhanced role in this area?) but your reaction is pathetic and embarrassing.
  15. Have you noticed that whoever''s name is in the frame it gets greeted by a chorus of "Oh God no" or "Not him it will be a disaster". Seen the same for Adams, Lennon and Malky. That just goes to show that there really aren''t any stand out candidates out there that will be universally taken to by the fans - so far anyway. To be honest there are all these names being bandied about and every one of them is going to be quite a risk. At least with Zola we get to enjoy the ride!
  16. I would have gone with something like that before yesterday but I must admit however that I''m now leaning towards someone employed at another club. Whatever you say about agents and things being complex I really can''t see how employing a couple of out of work people would take this long. Knowing how drawn out negotiations with Celtic have been in the past I''m beginning to think it might be Lennon
  17. Thanks Chelmsford, I for one find these sort of things entertaining. I must admit though using the past as a guide, especially over such a long period when so many changes have been made, is a bit tenuous. I tend to look at it that we need to finish above all the following bar one to gain automatic promotion - Derby/QPR, Wolves, Wigan, Reading, Cardiff, Fulham, Blackburn, Brighton etc. However you look at it it ain''t going to be easy.
  18. A lot of the Championship is about attitude, graft and confidence - almost as much as ability. Based on that I''d look to ship out Bassong - dozey Fer - When the going gets tough, where is he? Pilks - Missing most of the time. Shame. RVW - not enough space to put down all that''s wrong Wes - wants to go. On a side note I think we might see Surman back
  19. Don''t take it for granted Deltic. If we go down it will be the 6th relegation I have lived through. Three times we came straight back up and it was fantastic. The other three times were terrible with years of dross in between.
  20. I voted for Snodgrass and I he must have a good chance of winning the trophy. Just because there are a few vociferous contributors to this forum wont change the opinion of the majority.
  21. Will there be one? There certainly won''t be a player of the season presentation if last year is anything to go by
  22. The ref was correct. The foul continued into the box and the tug on his arm stopped him getting a shot off cleanly. After allowing play to continue to see if there was an advantage the penalty was given when there want. Can''t see much wrong with that
