theres a lot of people on here who seem to make their decisions based on what way ten minutes of football goif snodgrass had played he would have said redmond was dead wood

Hoolahan should have been playing most games in my opinion. Too often CH has kept the same personnel. At least today to give him credit he is changing formations within the matches with Redmond and Wes.

We always look better with Wes. Some good stuff today. Tactics right. Wonder if we''ll see Becchio for Elmander late on?! Good to see what we expect from Gary Hooper, the composure he is known for. Hope we keep this up. Ray commentating, hmm, wonder if there has been a Hughton/Houghton mix-up? Wouldnt be the first time!

I can see Wes playing a similar role to Nasri at Man City. Despite being positioned out wide, he is allowed (and encouraged) to drift into central areas and then play through passes. Combine it with an attacking full-back (Olsson) who will drive into vacated space, and you''ve got an effective left side. It also means that Redmond gets to play the ''Navas'' role and stay out wide, take on players with his pace and cross.

I''ve been saying drop Snodgrass ever since his penalty cock-up. Apart from one good free kick he hasn''t done anything to prove he deserves to be the automatic first choice that Hughton has made him. Maybe dead wood is too harsh but Hughton shouldn''t be so slow to drop out of form players and use the whole squad. Great to see Hoolahan back and proving his worth but why did it take an injury crisis for him to get a crack this season?

Yes agree TGMD, I would bet on Becchio having 10 or even 15 minutes for Elmander

Haha, that is better and a very fair point.
The manager should have cleared away the dead wood that is Snodgrass and Pilkington long ago but it''s left to an injury "crisis" to get players in the team who actually deserve to be there.
So Snodgrass and Pilkington are DEAD WOOD? Surely you must have been inhaling reactor paint when you wrote that.

Hoolahan''s lack of match fitness catching up with him; his legs look heavy.Time to for fresh legs.
Are we allowed to only play one half?
makes you wonder doesnt it

the reason bassong nearly put that in his own net is because hoolahan lost the ballfor every good thing he brings he always loses the ball and gives the opposition chances
