Despite the 1 - 2 loss against Falkirk in Scotland AJAX manager Henk ten Cate has decided to keep Jurgen Colin at AJAX and offer him an one year contract with an option for a second year.

Manager Henk ten Cate believes that Jurgen Colin is a solid good defender who doesn''t make many mistakes (like Andy Hughes !).

They now have to negotiate with both Jurgen Colin and and Norwich City.

He looks set to sign a one year deal with Ajax, what are your thoughts? Underachiever? Over-rated? Unsuited to the English game? I remember seeing him in his home debut against Inter Milan where he had an immense debut, what went wrong? He looked to have the ability to overlap and attack teams yet always stayed back.... maybe he was told to do this?

Seems fair enough - he never really made the position his own, and PG clearly didn''t rate him what with Hughes playing in preference; now we have Otsemobor he''s certain to be down the pecking order.  No figures mentioned but presumably we''d get a few hundred £k?  Would rather like to get Hassell from Barnsley as replacement, if we decide that we need one.

Good for Jurgen. He is a tidy player, with good technical ability. But for me, he never really got involved in games enough.If our management can''t get him to perform to the desired level, then there is little point him staying on. However, that does raise the question of whether our management are doing their job properly.

To lose this guy is total sh.t. I can tell you all with some authority that he is the fastest player in the City sqad. Yes, on the sprint tests that the players do he wins. He has great potential going forward which has never really been used. I have been a Grant supporter but he does not realise what he has got with this guy and this shows a lack of judgement on his part. To play Hughes in place of Colin is a total joke. We cannot afford to lose people like this, for me this is the first glimpse of Peter Grant not knowing what he is doing!

I wish him well;  he had improved significantly and one of only 2/3 players who was doing OK when ludicrously dropped in preference for the high energy but more ineffective Hughes.

He was very poor in his first season and improved slightly last year.  His cause has not been helped by playing next to the shaky Doherty, and during his first season having the manager seemingly on his case at all times.

Grant doesnt seem to rate him if the awful Hughes is getting picked ahead of him so its best he leaves.

Quite frankly, he was the worst right-back i''ve seen at the club since Brian McGovern.

The players ability especially technicaly were above that of many players at Norwich, I shall be sad to see him go but a players best performances can only come when he is happy. If Colin was never happy here then obviously we never saw his best form.
