Stoke Build Up

Recommended Posts

A point wouldn’t be a disaster but I fancy us to win. Any back four with Gibson (top earner at the Potters) in it will give you chances. 3.1 City with no International football would make a happy weekend.

My youngest lad is a good luck charm at a live game - 4 wins, and 2 draws (0 defeats).

He is coming with us Saturday, so the omens are with us!!

I fancy Josh getting on the scoresheet, as well as Crnac who seem to be getting closer each week.

What are Stoke 17th? 18th? Point wouldn't be bad as any point in this division isn't bad but given how we have played recently and how they have played you would think we could hope for a win?

Pile on at 7/4 then Cambridge. Their home form matches ours away and the impartial bookies make them very slight favourites.

We always hope for a win but it’s the hope that kills you 😉

I have a 100% winning record at Stoke. Quite a small sample size though, last season was my first time there!

I fancy us if we transfer some of that home form to on the road.

I don't think it will be an easy game but they haven't looked great under Pelach (minus the Portsmouth game) so far. Personally think they have regressed from where they were under Lowe. They are conceding lots of chances while not really creating much at the other end. Swansea really should have beaten them before the break too.

Will be interesting how they set up. Can't imagine the fans will be very happy to sit deep against us but if they play a high line and push up then Sarge, Sainz and Crnac up against a back peddling Gibson/Wilmott looks pretty appealing.

Do you mean Schumacher? Lowe was at Preston.

a little omen... what most people call Stoke on Trent is actually a collection of smaller towns.. and i believe the biggest (maybe) is Hanley...

And in a staggering coincidence its municipal boundary is very jagged, making it look a bit like a 50p piece.

Games like this are those we should be looking to win - if we are to mount a serious promotion challenge. Though games can be decided by a shot missing the goal by a few inches, a dodgy penalty or any number of bad decisions.

Having said that, you can always tell if we were the better side, irrespective of the result. And thats what we need to be. We will drop points through such incidents, but not because we were not the better side, We need to be going into games like this confident that we can win, not having a mindset that we should be grateful for a point.

A curious footnote is that Stoke have not finished in the top half of the Championship in the six seasons since relegation from the top flight.

LOL Stoke the big one.

Needs to be 3pts. 4 in 5 away from home, draws aren't really good enough in the hunt for promotion.

We’re getting a lift to the game with a Stoke fan. Hopefully we’ll get a lift back too, but I’m expecting an embarrassed silence if we carry on playing as well as our last couple of fixtures.

The first two goals could be from this season. Wagner did get us playing very good football occasionally, just not consistently or enough times.

Stoke the litmus test for the season haha

Joking apart they probably are. This season has parallels of 18/19. Carrow Road became a fortress and we had lots of joy on the road.

Does anyone know if it's still the Harvester pub near the ground for the away fans like last year??

Thanks

If you watch this then have a look at McCallum and how bad he is defending. Glad he left as he is absolutely shocking

In today's presser, JHT said Núñez might play against Stoke. Will be a late call.

Gunn is out with a side strain. Could be out for two weeks. But could play sooner with an injection.

This is the direct quote from the Pink Un, on other injuries:

Christian Fassnacht will the grass next week, while Jacob Sorensen has been with the team for five days. Ashley Barnes is feeling better. Liam Gibbs and Onel Hernandez still out long term.
