Your Last Game

Recommended Posts

There have been some lovely and poignant stories on the first game thread and they've been particularly enjoyable to read. I'm surprised by some of the dates though, most of you seem so much older.

I thought it would be interesting to put the boot on the other foot. I can't be the only one that has had enough. What was the straw that broke the camel's (not coming down Carrow Road) back?

I did stop for a long time after the Cardiff Play Off final. Letting Daryl Sutch take a penalty was verging on criminal negligence.

I eventually got worn down and returned but I now have not been to a game home or away since they sacked Farke after beating Brentford. The club lost its identity that day and I'm yet to see any hint of a return to the kind of values that led me to be a fan in the first place. Family club my backside.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Family's can be awful at times.

Was at Brentford, I can understand your sentiments.

My last game was Southampton at home over Xmas last year.

Was a plan b game, well executed. Boring as hell, but it did form the basis of a fun run to the top 6.

I go when I'm back up in the city and any away games I can that are south of Watford gap.

Wes Hoolahan’s last home game was also mine v Leeds. He was my favourite all time player but him leaving wasn’t the reason why I don’t go anymore.

i fell out of love with football and still don’t miss it in the UK tbh, I occasionally go to a game here in Oman but I have very little interest in watching it now tbh, I didn’t even watch much of the Euros

Same here, hospitality. It’s that or a ticket in the home clubs stands. I have given up trying to get a ticket for Norwich what with all the allocations, memberships, tiers etc.

Still, we got Pompey 10th December… a good old freezing cold wet and windy evening 🫤.

Perhaps we need another thread - Your Next Game.

Last home game: 2-3 vs Leeds last season, Gabby Sara wondergoal scored right in front of me

Last away game: 3-2 vs Millwall the season before, Gabby Sara wondergoal scored right in front of me

What may well be my last ever away game, given ticketing nowadays, was Fulham 6 Norwich City 0, on May 15th, 2005. By an odd quirk there were six goals in my first ever game, at Hull in April 1959, but they were evenly shared.
