Gibraltar complains about spain

Recommended Posts

I don't know why but 'Ends.' made me laugh at the end of that statement.  I think it's because it sounds like an Essex term for ending a letter.

I wonder how they feel about Ceuta and Melilla?

They are not looking to give them up soon. They should be grateful that they got Menorca back after 1714.

I'm not surprised Gibraltar have complained! Political chanting by Spanish players whilst the eyes of the world are watching represents an opportunist cheap shot to me. I have family living & working on the Rock; after 38 years there, my Norwich-born brother & his family are now Gibraltarian citizens & I get to hear a fair bit about the border shenanigans. Thankfully, he's pretty laid-back about it all. Unlike some of the Spanish folk!

Hmmn, maybe. I wouldn't want the logistical nightmare of having border controls in a different continent

No.. just 'drama'

Indeed drama takes place in a Theatre in England and a Teatro (pronounced "Tayartro') in Spain.

Haven't Argentina done the same,

Seen a couple of apologies coming out of their celebrations.

No doubt if England players started singing songs about the Falklands or prancing around with a Gibraltar flag we’d be fined by FIFA/UEFA

Yes. This. ALL DAY LONG. I'm married to a latina, a lot of my mates are Spanish and they have a blind spot here

My Spanish colleague even said the people want to be Spanish and other countries should respect that.  Sounds familiar.

My favorite bit about the Argentinians who claim the Falklands should be given to them is the conversation always goes along the lines of

'The Falklands is ours! It belongs to Argentina the people deserve to be free!'

'But didn't the people living on the island get given a vote if they wanted to be British or be controlled by Argentina and 99 percent of them voted to remain British?'

'... Well Um..uh.. You illegaly imported brits to vote for you! And no I won't expand or explain this clearly nonsense claim any further!'

We must be talking crossed purposes here. My Spanish friends have s blind spot to the rights of self determination of Gibraltar whilst totally ignoring the irony about Cueta and medilla.

The Argentinian claim on the Falklands stems from a Spanish king drawing a line on a map and saying 'stuff that side of the line is mine'. Then they say it's justice fighting against colonialism.

Freaks.

Pope Alexander VI not a Spanish King. But anyways always going to be British despite the Argentine claim that its attached to the by a Contonental Shelf. If Self determination was based on Physical Geography then the Channel Islands had better start driving on the right.
