The interview

Recommended Posts

After watching the clips this morning,  I am not sure if I have anything left. If the boo boys stop singing , there's nothing. They are the fans who still care , they still have some passion, and most of all it actually hurts to watch and see what's happening. Most of the other 80% unfortunately have just given up. Please feel free to tell me I am wrong.

It needs a proper organised protest, before and after games at Carra. Bed sheets are a start, but problem is some fans prefer to ridicule and distance, even though they support the fundamental reason as to why they're doing it.

If some were sitting on the fence regarding wanting S&J to stay for a couple more years, this should swing it.

First line.. Praises the Webbers. Un-fing-believable.

Although we had some transfer disasters during his tenure, namely the last two seasons or so, Webber does deserve praise. He joined a club wanting to progress and he did exactly that. 2 seasons in the Premier League, producing a whole host of youth talent and installing some world class facilities at the training ground.

And ended up right back at the start...

The praise wasn't in that context. It was a around Mark As involvement. Something Stuart Webber shouldn't ever have been near.. but lays bare just how naive and exposed Delia is.

Alas, Smith and Jones didn’t give you much to smile about. (Sorry, that’s one for the older folks!).

They were defensive, it’s none of your business, if you’re not in agreement with us you’re a whinger.

NO, it’s called a genuine concern and passion for the club. After the Swansea debacle last season (0-3 and McCallum sent off) I said three words, ‘that was shambolic’ to DS at which point I was escorted away by a steward. Before the Blackpool game I was stopped by a steward , asked who I was, had my season ticket photographed and told that there had been previous unspecified incidents involving means if there were any more I would be excluded from the ground. I am 68 years old and have been supporting NCFC for almost 60 years, the majority of which were all home and away games.

I am treated like a football hooligan, not a person who cared about MY football team!!

Thanks to that treatment and attempts to have a meaningful conversation with the club which they just ignore and the state of football, money and black money dominated, I do not travel away and will be giving up my season ticket.

Also when Andy Hughes almost causes a major incident with angry fans after the game at  WBA last season he is apparently showing how much he cares about the club.

Thanks but no thanks, I have had enough of football and this circle the wagons football club.

Thought the part of the interview with Mark was very positive and encouraging, but when Delia started talking, I'm kind of lost for words. You just can't dismiss fans who boo like they aren't real fans.

You’re not alone now, I think the tide is turning very fast.Delia was given some rope last night and jumped on the trap door in record time. She can’t read a room to save her life.

What astonishes me is that she is surprised we have got someone as good as Ben Knapper. Who on earth did she think was going to get the job? Cambridge? Essex?

For God's sake, we may be struggling at the moment but the size and nature of the club should mean that we attract good quality applicants for senior positions. It may sound like I'm looking at the world through yellow and green glasses but surely things aren't that bad?

She really doesn't get it does she. Ridiculing the club's supporters who spend very good money to support THEIR team, not hers and saying 20% are the problem.

And Attanasio's constant joker like grin really masks his ability to show any cringing at her comments as well. It gets worse.

Sounds like Stuart Webber has made quite the impression on her over the last few years. Literally, the sort of thing that would come out of his mouth.

He knows this charade won’t last two more years. Her stock melted big time in just 30 minutes.

I think this is yet another example of the problem of owners getting too cosy with their employees.

It is clear from everything Delia & MWJ have said that they never wanted Webber to leave and would happily have let him stay as long as he wanted. They talk about him with more praise than most parents give their own kids. They also clearly blame a subsection of fans for driving their precious boy away, hence these comments.

You'd have thought after doing this for so long they might have the savvy to realise that slagging off a solid % of your fan base while your team is struggling and two days after a horrendous collapse might not be the wisest idea. Especially as a constantly sold out ground is a key pillar of the self funding model they are about so much.

The Portsmouth stuff is equally very silly. Firstly I have no doubt Portsmouth fans boo their team at times- it happens. Secondly, for all their relentless cheering they've spent the last decade bouncing between League One and Two. Finally, it adds to the impression I have that they would much rather be owning a smaller, plucky underdog type team like Cambridge United rather than a team with top flight ambitions.

Quite a ridiculous interview and scary how poor Delia and Michael is in the interview.

Right from the start she seems confused about the shares position.

Honestly think she is no longer suitable to be an owner of the club

Good grief.

We need to be like Porzzmouth fussball supporters. Not ‘whingers’.

Need to plant some ‘whingers’ in the Lion & Castle, clearly.

I have to say I didn't really have a strong opinion on the owners, mainly because I'm that shallow and don't care who owns the club, never have done. However, I really don't like this latest incarnation of Smith.

It's absolutely imperative that she has the fans on board for the transition to Team USA. Some of the answers and continued reference to 'whingers' are an absolute car crash.

Roll on January 2026!

It’s the use of that word - ‘whingers’ - that I find the most objectionable. It belittles anyone with valid concerns/discontent. It’s divisive and potentially damaging. It proves we have an owner too comfortable in the echo chamber of her cosy Wherry & Sherry club. We don’t need a takeover, we’re getting closer to needing an intervention.

Agree with this, if anything, those 20% are the most important as they are vocal enough to share what the majority of the crowd are too afraid to voice.

I guess maybe they still think it's just those Divorcee's in the Snakepit

Like Captain Pants, never really paid too much attention to ownership issues and have always been more focussed on matters on the pitch.

But....

After watching that, it's hard not to cringe. Delia clearly completely oblivious to the damage she causes with her choice of language (whingers) and how inappropriate (and alienating) it is to compare our supporters to Portsmouth. A horrible lack of self-awareness (age? alcohol?)

Attanasio however comes across quite well. He hid his mild embarrassment every time Delia spoke quite well and strikes me that he's just tolerating Delia and MWJ until they finally walk away.

Time will tell.

I agree with you on that. He just has to retain composure and every time Delia opens her mouth more fans will turn against her.

Agreed, he knows she scored numerous own goals last night. Privately he must be laughing his head off.
