KiwiScot 1,459 Posted September 16, 2023 (edited) After the international break we host Stoke and former legend manager Alex Neil. He's not really done much else since we sacked him, but who can forget his time in charge. Alex, Alex gies us a wave. Stoke themselves are a good example of an established premier league side that eventually get relegated and fester. They've won when at home this season and lost while away so welcome to Carrow Road! News - The Mayor secures another term bossing the midfield until 2026. Rowe is EFL young player of the month. Still waiting on scan results for Núñez while Sainz is back training, but will likely appear for the u21s soon. KiwiScot 1,459 Posted September 16, 2023 So reckon Norwich will win this, but won't be surprised if it's a draw. Probably should name an unchanged lineup since we've had the break as Stoke will likely be trying to include new signings.
BroadstairsR 2,195 Posted September 16, 2023 (edited) Difficult to know what team turns up with the loss of Sargent. Difficult to predict just how much the loss of action man will affect the overall performance. We should win what with being at home and against a Stoke side still hoping to blend all their Summer signings into a results producing unit, but I'm less convinced than I would have been. Have to hope that Rotherham was a blip and that a now more confident Adam Idah (please section of the crowd get off his back ... it's counterproductive in the extreme for both the player and the team) makes a more telling contribution otherwise we may well see what South Korea offers earlier than expected. Using the percentages game first used by the Saturday football forecaster in the Times, whose name temporarily eludes me,** I plump for the following. Norwich win: 55% Draw: 30% Stoke win: 15% ** Fink tank .... Daniel Finkelstein. Edited September 16, 2023 by BroadstairsR

Oh, so we're merging predictions in with the premature match thread now are we? In that case: I've got a sneaky feeling that we'll find a way to lose this one. I think our early season form has instilled a sense of false optimism and we will return back to normality. Our failure to adequately reinforce the striking department may well come back to bite us. The great thing about going into the game with low expectations is a win would be a pleasant surprise while a defeat would be no worse than I imagined. Wondered what that was. Are we supposed to be concerned about this when anonymous on a forum which can often be a breeding place for fantasy, dispute and downright aggressiveness? Other than that, it's an excellent and very informative meeting place for canary fans that I usually visit daily. Sleepless nights ahead now, that's for sure. 'Community reputation' eh? Capt. Pants 4,271 Posted September 16, 2023 With Leicester up midweek we really need a win today to be full of confidence for that. I suspect we'll be unchanged but with tinkering of the bench to get Hwang, Forshaw and Batth involved. Looking forward to this, interesting to see what animal we come back as, we're normally slothlike after a break.

PurpleCanary 5,578 Posted September 16, 2023 At least Wagner et al have had two weeks to drill the squad in how to play without Sargent, and how to combat what apparently were successful tactics Rotherham employed against us.
Christoph Stiepermann 1,138 Posted September 16, 2023 Think this will be a tougher game than many are expecting but I think we'll sneak a 2-1 win with another late goal.

Yes. There needs to be adjustments from what we have seen so far if we are to avoid starting with one up front. Barnes always warrants starting but his strengths these days are not as a loan striker. A lot depends upon Idah demonstrating that he is a worthy replacement. Otherwise, it's Hwang or Foreshaw. The latter presuming a change of tact. TheGunnShow 5,983 Posted September 16, 2023 Meh, this Cambridge bashing is tiring to see, frankly - someone's got to start the discussion and often it tends to be him. As for the result/performance, let's hope we've learned from the Rotherham match. I'd hope Wagner is more like Farke in getting his teams moving quickly after international breaks now he's had a pre-season to drill his team and get them fitter. Idah needs some Viaggro tablets. Not Viagra, but Viaggro. You'd hope more time around Barnes and Duffy should put it in him. He can be a real problem for defenders when he just stops thinking too much and decides "right, you f*ckers, have some of this!" Won't be easy, Stoke are a tough out at the best of times, but I don't think we'll lose. Draw or a one-goal win sounds right.
