Just some comments from the match thread about Idah. 🥧

Recommended Posts

"We have too many players who are not comfortable on the ball. Sargent, McCullum, Idah. Sargent is a real conundrum for us as he cant receive the ball into feet (and Idah is even worse) which makes us lack in any fluidity in our attacking build up."

"Adam Idah doing his best Ali Dia with some of his attempts on goal."

"He (Idah) just isnt the answer sadly, never has been and never will be."

"Unfortunately can see Idah ending up at a Walsall/Rochdale. Still an achievement any of us here would be proud of, but he just isn't very good. Very little footballing intelligence and unable to outmuscle anyone in senior football. Could he end up leading the line for the Binners?"

"Couldn’t agree more. Idah hould be out on loan in league one (where if I’m honest is as high as I think he’ll ever play away from us)"

And you see people this is why you don't commet about players before the match ends. Such negativity about someone who would then score a good goal. Tut tut 😉

I like people who are brave enough to say their piece and not wait, sit on the fence and join the winning team.

CC; I’ll readily admit to being critical of him. I also loved the role he played in those games last season against West Ham & Everton.

For every battering ram performance there’ll be two ‘namby-pamby side-footed passes to their keeper/the stand behind the goal’ type of performances.

Like everyone, I want the lad to come good. But it’s clear that had he not been homegrown, he’d be taking pelters like Sinani or Hugill have of late.

Fair play to him, he took that chance beautifully just now. But he’s a pro footballer, it’s no more than should be expected.

This same exact thing happened last time he scored vs Everton - lots of 'I told you so's, everyone losing their mind saying how brilliant he is, only for yet another loss of form, or, more accurately, another extended vacation to the treatment room.

He needs a prolonged spell as a starter. Most importantly, he needs to stay the bar-stard funk off the treatment table. There is a player in there, but if his body's too fragile, it's a moot point.

Glad he scored but stick by my comment that I think he is league one quality only. I’d obviously love him to prove me wrong (but one goal doesn’t do that!)

Needs to stay fit. Whenever he gets fit and gets a start he looks a handful. Even out of position tonight.

He's not very good. That chance was pretty straight forward in all honesty.  Most of the game passed him by. Sorry, but its true.

Absolutely, good all round performance tonight, very pleased for him. If we can get him and keep him 100% he is going to have a big positive influence on the rest of the season imo

I've never given up on him. He has the raw potential and physical qualities, but he's 22 in February and has amassed something like 1,700 minutes of senior club football in his career, which is hardly anything. His problem is that for four years now, he's been good enough to keep around in the squad but not good enough for regular minutes, so he hasn't had a run in the team here or a loan spell elsewhere.

I've seen Pukki and Sargent alone miss multiple similar chances.

I still maintain that neither Sargent or Idah are great at receiving the ball to feet, rather both are number 9’s. Idah took his goal really well but I can’t be the only one that thinks he looks a bit lost out on the left flank?

If you're comparing Pukki with Idah have a word with yourself.

Just making a point. Fans are very quick to judge and notorious for getting it hideously wrong. Enough managers have clearly seen enough in Idah for him to still be around the first team.

I'd like to see two attack setups, one with Teemu upfront and Idah in his shadow (how it was before Idah got injured) and another with Sargent upfront and Idah on the wing - call it plan A and plan B.

Adam is better on the wing than Josh, and as good as our Finn is, our needs and styles of play available don't match as well to what he can provide for us. He needs close support from someone that can create space for him. In a perfect world Teemu would be a very astute and dangerous 10/ false 9.
