Sinani singled out

Recommended Posts

By Dean Smith

"Hopefully the work we are doing gives us a chance to see continued progress. I have been really impressed with Danel (Sinani) who was on loan at Huddersfield last season. He has a really good picture when the ball arrives, he plays one touch, two touch, has a really good delivery from a set piece."

Hernandez, McCallum and Hugill get a mention too. If they impress throughout pre season they could essentially be like three new signings.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do and can he form a partnership with Pukki as a number 10?

I'm.really pleased Sinani may be on the cusp of proving a point to many doubters on here who wrote him off when Farke shipped him out on loan. Now Webber can.flog off Rashica to pay for the Brazilian super star!

Rashica will rip it up in the champ this season

Huddersfield fans aren't sold on him as a winger, and he himself said he prefers playing as a number 10. I cant see him getting in ahead of Rashica.

At least 2 will need to go from:

Cantwell, Dowell, Sinani, Hernandez, Rashica, Tzolis, Sargent, Rowe. They are realistically vying for 2/3 starting spots.

You can probably add Idah to this, unless he is going to only ever play if Pukki can't.

Said something similar on Wednesday on the Sinani thread after seeing him live last season

Be interested if McCallum kicks on. If he does, then we've no need to worry at left-back at all. Hugill should look more dangerous if we're playing with a bona-fide winger instead of trying to change his game to handle several attacking midfielders firing in low balls to chase instead of high balls to attack.

Looks like Sinani and Dowell scrapping it out for the number 10 slot.

I'm pleased to see McCallum getting some recognition. I always thought he was treated a bit weirdly under Farke and he looks like a real talent.

Dunno, if he comes on, this could vindicate Farke's treatment - especially when Giannoulis was flying along nicely in the Champs. Also, didn't McCallum actually say somewhere that he felt he needed the experience as he'd risen very quickly?

That could be my mind playing tricks on me though. He's had plenty of quality experience at this level though, and you'd think he should be able to push Giannoulis very hard.

Well, Mcallum went straight from Herne Bay FC to Coventry to us.

That is  a hell of a jump

Could be his public sales pitch to be fair.

Positive either way, didn't understand why Farke would publicly slate some players that he didn't want, it was like a used car salesman pointing out a little bit of rust around a wheel arch instead of talking about the brand new set of Goodyears.

McCallum did say something along those lines, yeah (when he went out on his first loan, said he felt out of his depth at Norwich). I remember this too.

Would be a travesty if Idah departed and Hugill stayed.

That's what I was thinking. First loan sounds right now you mention it.

Come to think of it, didn't Philipp Lahm have a two-year loan at Stuttgart before becoming an established player at Bayern Munich? Obviously, I'm not implying that McCallum is the next Philipp Lahm, but I am saying a couple of years out but getting quality first-team experience at a young age can really help a player before getting settled with his parent club. IIRC Liverpool and Leicester were looking at him too, and Klopp certainly knows what a dynamic left-back looks like having got Robertson and Tsimikas.

So potentially we are looking at a starting XI of

                 Krul

Aarons  Hanley            Omobamideli  Gianoullis

      Hayden               Sara

                  Sinani

Sargent                  Rowe

                 Pukki

That can't be right, no Kenny 😉

I think Rashica is ahead of Rowe. And probably Dowell & Cantwell ahead of Sinani, as it stands. Then you had Idah on rotation with Pukki, as well Hugoal as a different option if we need to be more physical/better in the air. As well as Kenny in for Hayden, as I doubt he is gonna start the early games of the season. Likewise with Sara, I doubt we will see anytime soon starting. Probably PLM in for Sara initially. Gibson in for Omo early on until he returns to full match fitness.

I love the way one positive article on Sinani makes him a starter.

It was a tongue in cheek post on my part re the starting XI. Deano has to say something about his players if asked and I doubt he has much idea of his starting XI just yet.

But goes to show we have a strong squad and importantly lots of competition for places.

Most definitely. Its not a bad thing he had a good loan at Huddersfield and now starting to add another player to the mix that most had written off. Good competition in that area should spur him on. He can certainly score us goals, providing he plays in the right position.

Clearly Smith setting the stage to justify the lack of signings we are going to make. 🤪
