I think he’s called me a Bobby Hunt before ( to be fair so does my brother) so let’s not pretend he’s some kind of untouchable angel.

If you find that I'll put £50 in Rays Funds for the CSF and our DS boys and girls.

If you don't you put in £50.

Deal?

Better than Gibson?

Probably but what's that got to do with anything? The Doc would probably have been better than them both today...

You used a coded word for it Nutty, I wasn’t offended and actually laughed. It happened, it’s there, end of story.

No.

I'd have let you off if you hadn't doubled down in your last reply.

Happy hunting...

Well I think this thread is proof that Friendly fridays are dead and buried and sadly I don't think there is hope for Saturdays either 😉

Ferk off!

Not really. On this showing Ajer wasn't looking £13.5m good that's for sure. 1st half he was really struggling to handle any of the pace thrown at him and was probably lucky to be on the pitch still at half time. Put in one tackle, let off with a warning and then was booked a minute or so later from a similar poor tackle. Both yellows so could have gone. I don't think the ref was wrong particularly, but seen them both given before.

Had to stand off a bit after that, which is a shame because we never really got at him that much.

Very true, it's always a pleasure to see opposing CBs get carded early. (Mental note: we might be glad of that little yellow later on...)

So who was to blame for the first goal?

Whole team back in the penalty area and Toney unmarked.

We've been fairly shocking at defending dead-balls (particularly second balls) in recent matches. I remember reading shortly after Farke got his cards that set-pieces (at both ends of the pitch) were usually a strong aspect of a Smith & Shakey 'philosophy.' Sadly, not on recent evidence.

You pulling Daddy up tonight too on misspellings? He didn’t rate Ager👍

Honest question: did you double-check the correct spelling of the above word before you clicked the little pink rectangle?

Really don't understand this need people have to divide the fanbase. We're all disappointed.

Today I can say likewise - have you never been on this forum before? 😉

When we lose, the fans that have an issue with how the club is run will have a go at those that don't.

When we win, the fans that don't have an issue with how the club are run will have a go at those that do.

Being 'right' and being seen to be 'right' is very important to people, even on a football forum. It's human nature; that's why it will never change.

I think most if not many of those who by and large are sympathetic to the current ownership do have serious issues with the way the club is run. What we are not so tolerant of is the parochial vocal minority who delight in ever setback, and who have never put forward a constructive alternative.

That would be the first half where we went in 0-1 down at half time.

So because we were 1-0 that automatically means Ajer was outstanding and an absolute snip at £13.5m and tells the entire story of the 1st half?

It has been going on for many years. There's a group who have held a grudge against the current owners for 20 years and like to use every opportunity to pretend there is an easy solution. I'd have more sympathy if any of them were capable of explaining in reasonable detail how an alternative model might work rather than just say that "we need investment" - by which they mean debt or multi-million pound gifts - as if a few million would be a game changer.

What always brings an ironic smile to my face is that these same people seem to thoughtlessly spend extremely significant amounts of other people’s money, as though it’s as simple as playing Monopoly.

I thought Ajer was rubbish today and it was criminal Rashica didn't run at him more after the yellow

Did they sell their best player when they came up to? No, he was bagging a hatrick against us today

And were any clubs actually making bids for his services, because I don't remember seeing any genuine bids made for him from 'bigger' teams despite the usual rumouts floating around in the media.

Let's face it, if a genuinely better side had wanted him, he'd have been gone, but again, I didn't see anyone waving 30mil+ in Brentford's direction, so it's a bit disingenuous to try to use the "they didn't sell their best player" as a stick against the club isn't it, when the situations were quite different?

It might well be a game changer though if, for example, it enables you to keep your star player after promotion who is involved in about 85% of your goals, rather than flogging him before a ball has been kicked. Or to run a slightly higher wage bill. Or to enable you to sign the defensive midfielder you desperately needed.

recruitment has been awful. Our current woes are not just down to the “model” (which to be honest it just code for the owners put no money in but won’t let go) as we could still have done better this season in my opinion. But our lack of financial clout underpins everything.

Ajer was not good at all. Honestly one positive of today was not having spent £20 million on him

He was playing out of position at right back.

The latter of which rarely, if ever, happen. Usually the debt arrives at the expense of the owner loaning money against the club. And then, like Abramovic can slink off debt free with a club left with billions to account for...

Abramovic is writing off their entire debt.

The particular kicker is when the Other People's Money enthusiasts use "socialist" as an insult.

History doesn't suggest that's true.

Not particularly, but he didn't give away two silly penalties like one of our centre backs did he.

Indeed. Its always quite funny though that some like to act as if its only the more negative/anti Delia/MWJ types that do this as if the term 'pant wetters' isn't extremely common place.
