We needed to upgrade his position in the summer. He is an average Championship player at best.

I've maintained for the last three years that he's a very good Championship midfielder but not a 'starting XI' Premier League player.

The fact he keeps getting picked despite not being good enough isn't his fault; it's just sums up our lack of decent options.

You misspelled 'average'.

Bit harsh; he was a regular after his injury in the 18/19 and 20/21 seasons and we won the league both times.

Yep. Six goals in four seasons where he's played virtually every minute, two of those seasons we walked the league at Champs level. He's not a CDM - he's a number 8 type midfielder. This stat about his lack of goals doesnt get mentioned enough. He doesnt score, create, break up play, spread it around, carry the ball... all he does is run around and head it. Awful player at this level, average in the Champ.

His cross this afternoon was so poor that someone had to jump out the crowd to get on the end of it.

Not even close to Premier League standard.

Yep, another absolutely obvious issue that needed addressing that Webber completely ignored. Utterly negligent for a second Premier League campaign running.

You must have missed all the goals we conceded when he left gaping holes in the midfield or simply passed the ball to the opposition. He was clearly the weakest player in our midfield. Plenty of effort but a real lack of footballing intelligence and ability.

Who do we have who's close to Premier League standard then?

Not one single player really.

Max and Krul and that's it.

How does this clown play week after week. He's so crap

Because we didn't get anyone better. Well, Normann is but he's injured. None of the other midfielders have outperformed him.

Why do you love him so much? Sorensen should be given a chance to play. Let me guess you're now going to say sorensen was poor when he played there, he's played 3 or 4 games in how long? And how many in his preferred position? PLM could play deeper bigger and more physical than mcclown. Who costs us most goal, McLean

So he is crap but slightly less shi£e than the others around him? That’s a glowing endorsement.

McLean, Rupp, Gilmore, PLM et al. would dominate most championship sides.

That's not an endorsement of them, that's just a reflection on the huge, huge gap between the championship and the premier league.

The issue is we have one midfielder out of 6 who is good enough at the level we play at now which is the relevant thing.

If you mean Normann, he plays about 10 games a year, so he's not good enough either.

I dont love him. The fact he's started nearly every game this season, and is now starting every game under yet another manager just shows we don't have anyone better. If McLean was worse than Sorensen and PLM then don't you think Smith or Shakespeare with his years of coaching would have been able to identify that? Even if you say Farke was deluded its a bit of a stretch to claim these guys are as well. It could just be that you're wrong.

Well yes, quite. It is a problem that he has started every game this season - it shows we haven't strengthened well enough in midfield whatsoever - but its not his fault that yet another manager has decided he should start every game

Sorensen has to keep playing centre back to cover for the duds we’ve signed there, it’s such an embarrassment

Yes certainly relative to the others. Also Teemu when given service

Why do you have a love affair with Sorensen? Did you see that miss today?

No.

Byram showed today that even after 2 years out he is much better than Max

Ok, it's been a rubbish day in a very bad season, but let's not make stuff up to add to our worries. Sorenson played there because of players out and Kabak not being fit after the weekend.

But he's right. McLean isn't good enough at this level, but aside from Normann who is out for a while, we don't have any central midfielders who are actually any better than him.

It's too early to judge Sorensen, for me.
