That's fair enough. I only ask as I'm in a similar situation. My boss tested positive at the weekend and I sit about 4 metres away from him at work and he attended our Xmas do last week. I've elected to not isolate but to take a daily LFT.

My friend took LFT tests as well, which turned out negative, and is retired, so self-isolating was not so much of an imposition. The point of this true story was really about the lack of mask-wearing when commonsense would have suggested it was the thing to do even though not mandatory.

A rather foolish generalisation if I may say so.  To say that those who recognise that vaccinations, regular testing, wearing of masks, acting sensibly and unselfishly is the only rational way to deal with the pandemic somehow makes them far-left is a bizarre thing to say.  As someone from the centre of politics who usually votes Conservative and who was a reluctant Brexiter (would have preferred to remain in a reformed EU), I clearly don’t fit your description.  I think you spend rather too long listening to Talk Radio and reading the comments sections in the Daily Mail.

Friendly tip, at least if my experience is anything to go off:

If you haven't had a booster yet, but are going to take it, give yourself a couple of days break from strenuous activities. I went into a local walk-in centre on Saturday morning for a booster shot thinking it would be like the second jab where beggar-all happened to me, and was due to referee a girls' football match on Sunday morning in a town seven miles away. I do that regularly, and cycle between the two.

Well, got up the next morning to cycle there - best way I can describe it was that my body would not warm up even during moderate exercise and I was in windproof gear and Roosters gloves that are well-tested against cold weather. Felt faint after six miles of easy cycling and got so bad I rang an ambulance and sat down on the pavement. Couple of passers-by saw me and gave me blankets, plopped me in a van, more blankets, hot water bottle, hot tea, whole shebang. Had to cancel the ambulance after waiting 30 minutes as one of them said he'd drive me to A&E.

Long story short, even after 45 minutes in a warm A&E department and 30 mins in blankets in that van, my core temperature was a couple of degrees lower than usual and a couple of viral markers in my blood tests were a bit above expected levels. ECG revealed sod-all as expected though (in fact they said my heart was in excellent shape for a 41 y/o man), and these more thorough blood tests revealed my "MOT" ones were pretty much right.

So, just be a little careful if exercising / watching body temperature.
