New Tory Leader

Accepting all the caveats. It would see the Tories lose 113 seats. Among the headliners would be Duncan Smith, Teresa Villiers, David Davis, our own Chloe Smith and a chap called Boris Johnson.  It should focus the minds of 112 MPs.

This 'affair' registers about 1 on the Richter Scale doesn't it. Why should anyone be surprised at all by the behaviour of this lot. Then...when you get even harmless jokester idiots like Ant & Dec mocking you then you also know the portents are not good too. As for Covid, those that have lost loved ones will definitely vote at the ballot box come 2024 (before?).

What should upset more people is the wholesale attack on our basic institutions like our legal system and basic common right to protest or express an alternative opinion.

...We ought to be worried at how the global economy / interests of global capitalism is running the narrative.... We ought to be worried about the increasingly inegalitarian policies being shoe-heeled in without adequate scrutiny... that will affect access to health for all and we ought to be concerned at the shamelessness and vacuousness of the marketing trick that is 'levelling up'.

That we haven't really had much comment from Tory voters on this forum (a forum which is a microcosm of society) tells you what really matters.

Those more centrist or left can rail all they like. This government will simply mock and laugh. That's what you see week in, week out if you take the time to watch how parliament is conducted, how the media responds to it too. There is far too much that is complicit going on I'm afraid.

Yep and I honestly don't know how we can come back from the path we seem to be heading down. The tories and right wing media that they are inextricably linked to are exceptionally clever at praying on peoples fears, insecurities and innate prejudices, when you have the power to deceive and manipulate like that on a grand scale you can get away with an awful lot and most people won't bat an eyelid.

Trouble is people are starting to wise up to the fact that they're being manipulated by the media and are becoming increasingly distrustful of any kind of authority, which on it's own would be a good thing, but the trend seems to be to instead reading and following even further right wing smaller news outlets and wacko conspiracy nuts online.

I think the reason that people will still support Johnson and the Tories and would only vote for alternatives like whatever con someone like Farage is trying to peddle is not because they are in favor of these parties conduct and policies, it's because they have been brainwashed through fear by powerful people with ulterior motives to view anything alternative or centrist/moderately left wing as evil communism. A massive amount of people also have a real problem with and feel threatened by a lot of the hot button social movements that get a lot of coverage now like LGBT rights/gender pronouns/diversity in films/BLM etc and associate it with left wing politics and I believe that many people choose to identify with and vote for right wing candidates and a protest against that kind of culture.

Despite all the evidence of tory sleaze, corruption, mismanagement and the dismantling of our laws and freedoms an unfortunate majority when they pick up their voting card and pencil and look it the choices will see this:

Conservatives - Keep the foreigners out, punish dole scroungers, easy answers, leave means leave, leveling up

All other candidates - Commies, BLM, Taking the knee, SOCIALISM, open borders, high taxes

Because dogmatic ideology and media spin replaces reality in most peoples minds.

“What is known will be revealed”

Matthew - Chapter Ten.

This is the beginning of the end of the worse Prime Minister and backing team we’ve ever had.

Should have known that a Boris press conference never starts on time

Oh God yeah, it’s worse when England are playing rugby, it’s like watching the match to the end is more important.

Even Milliband managed a 10% lead, mind you that was before he tried to eat that bacon roll😉

They all run out of road in the end but nobody ever won money writing Boris off yet. This may or may not be the exception.

Time will tell.

lol like anything will come of this. The government have us all on strings and their core supporters will all be voting for them again in a couple of years.

It'll be interesting to see them try bring in another lockdown after this but no doubt most of our citizens are complete cucks and will lap it up.

If there is another one being threatened, everyone related to the 130,000 or so who have died, won’t obey it and the Tories know this especially after recent shambles.

I couldn’t believe how much my neighbours enjoyed the first lockdown, especially with all their stupid clapping and whooping every Thursday night. Lockdowns Boris seems to enjoy imposing, especially with how he says the word “Lockdown” with so much poise and even grinned when he said the word once.

A sad indictment of the voting public. A man eating a roll awkwardly is more off putting than a corrupt liar.

Boris Johnson's pants have been on fire almost as much as Sharon Weiss's pumpkin pie.

It's worrying isn't it. The government, the Met and a big chunk of the press all in cahoots and all acting dubiously, veering on criminal. And it will get worse if these aren't chased out.

The Stratton video today is just grim. She made some off colour arrogant jokes, but my god I doubt there are many resignations where someone looks less actually responsible for the event itself than this.

I doubt this is going to help him.

I think the media has turned. See the Mail and Express. The parties at Downing Street could have only happened in a climate of non compliance.

Well, if you fancy a charity bet on Boris being Prime Minister in June 2024, I'd take you up on it Ricardo. Then again, we would both have to remember it for it to work.

Milliband was a twit though: So busy attacking the Lib Dems as junior partners in the coalition that the Conservatives finished up taking all of the credit for all of the constructive things the Lib Dems had forced into the coalition agreement.

He wouldn't be my first choice for leader to be fair, but he is reasonably likeable and decent. But the country would not be in the mess it is now if we had given him a chance imo.

Wonderfully staged insincere tears from Stratton.

The tossers think it will garner support if she blubs and tries to excuse Johnson.

Johnson is becoming such an electoral liability I am getting concerned that he might not last until the next GE. Don't want the shysters to get a bounce by giving him the boot, psrticularly a Truss boost.

All while they let D*ck off the hook and hush it up.

Having the brass neck to call that conference yesterday and announce tighter restrictions, it’s gone beyond a joke. How can the Met brush that off?, it’s all in that video and she’s even going “eeerrr…uuummmm?”, a classic sign of hiding something and not knowing what to say in response back, clearly a D*ck hush-up.

That's exactly why Labour doesn't back electoral reform and why I refuse to vote Labour until they do; lesser of the evils is not good enough when the lesser of the evils still isn't good enough.

There will be a GE before then so I reckon he won't be leading it by 2024. GE Oct 2023 is my best guess and any sign that he will lose will mean letters going in to Graham Brady long before then. I can't see him fighting a leadership contest under any circumstances.

A long way to go so I wouldn't put money on it just yet.

If only Brown had gone to the country when he had a 10 point lead, we may have never had a Tory Government.

We are moving further to the right in many aspects. The Police are now at the behest of the Government and not the Law and it is worrying. The Fourth Estate has never been so opinionated and almost using positive censorship to suit their readers.

It is up to the major media outlets such as SKY and the Beeb to shy away from getting caught up in this trend. Just tell us the unredacted truth.
