keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted November 10, 2020 Cornwall Council is set to change in May. It is reducing its councillors from 123 to 86. It is traditionally an independent or NOC council. So I don't envisage any indication of gains or losses between the two main national parties.

Starmer is slowly trying to extract the Electoral poison from the party and the purge could well be complete by then, but will he also have enough time to inject a bit of hope and vision into proceedings? Conversely, is May sufficiently far in the future that this year's troubles in the blue corner will be yesterdays news? Very true @Barbe bleu, Starmer has plenty of time to build his name recognition, put the ghost of Corbyn to bed and build a narrative. As for May I suspect the electorate will be looking to give the Tories a good kicking from across the spectrum: Remainers, Leavers, Left, Right & Centre.

By May vaccinations will be well underway in the general population, covid will be greatly reduced and it will be springtime when folks spirits are lifted. Tory ratings will be on the rise and the economy improving

They weren't there for the usual Johnson "we an do this together" morale speech. It was to explain what to expect after licensing. Does anyone really expect the target of 1M a day vaccinations? It will take over two months to complete.

If, as seems likely, the first vaccine is licenced by Christmas I would be massively disappointed if covid was not becoming an increasingly niche concern by May! As soon as I heard and then saw Hancock chirp on about rolling out vaccines "straight into the arm" it made me feel immediately unconvinced I have to admit. Everytime he's made these kinds of declarations it seems as if it's gone wrong. This time, it is vital they get roll out just right. I'm guessing they've known for weeks and possibly months about mobilising for the vaccine so I just hope all these stories come to fruition and folk don't feel let down. I can't be bothered if Tory ratings rise or not. I just want to see good management for now on the pandemic. I can't see yet another lockdown happening anyway but if numbers continue to be high in January what might happen then? Is the government strategy going to be mostly about 'putting their eggs in the vaccine basket'? I've read about huge regional tiers coming into place rather than city areas. That may be one change. As for Labour, they may gain more support if there are further false steps and mismanagement. Edited November 11, 2020 by sonyc

keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted November 17, 2020 We know the Tory press will not let it go but Corbyn is not the leader. The whole situation was blown out of proportion in the first place. Corbyn's stupidity was to say he was going to do something and then didn't. He let his own beliefs cloud the real truth that the majority of working class British citizens would back Israel over Palestine. But the middle classes with their consciences keep it on the agenda.
