1.
in which case what the hell are they both doing on our bench?
Lack of other options. I agree with Nexus on this. Morisson just needs to up his work rate and he''ll soon be scoring goals again. He is a good player on his day, but he doesn''t seem interested enough to have those days very often. As to why he got on before Simeon, its probably more a tactical thing than one is better than the other. At that stage of the game, against a team that don''t leave much space behind their back-line, a big man will always be the better option than pace. Overall though, neither of them are good enough to keep us in the prem, so would happily see them both leave in Jan, assuming the right people come in. Imagine if Holt was injured and we were left with Morisson and Simeon, would put a lot of pressure on the midfield guys to get some goals! Although, Morisson does seem to play better when he is "Number 1" option and is the main man, seems to up his workrate then, which results in goals!!!
2. If you are using Internet Explorer use compatability view, that fixes it. Its the icon within the bar you type web addresses that looks like a bit of paper with a tear in the middle.
3.
So, the fans sucked for the Fulham game, and yet what ellis wrote is trollop. Hmmm.   On tv, the crowd seemed pretty tame until the red card and Arsenal started to dominate. Then it got louder, but that''s how plastic fans are.
For the Fulham game yes, couldn''t agree more. It was the Tottenham Arsenal game I was referring to, the atmosphere was completely different. If anything, the ''plastics'' made for a much better atmosphere. I must admit, before the red card it wasn''t as loud as after, but you still couldn''t compare it to the Fulham game the week before. Arsenal have always had pretty quiet fans tho haven''t they? Was Hibury nicknamed the Hibury Library or something along those lines. Emirates is a funny old stadium aswell, by the time a chant/song reaches one side of the stadium to the other, the original side has stopped. Almost a mexican wave of chants lol
4.
The Arsenal vs Spurs match is pathetic, problem with the London clubs they are infested with plastic fans, you could hear a pin drop at the Emirates last week and they were winning 5-2!!!
My mate is an Arsenal season ticket holder and got me a ticket to the Arsenal v Spurs game. I gotta say, thats a load of trollop. The atmosphere was amazing. The only time it went a bit quiet was when Tottenham got their 2nd, you could feel the nerves come in, apparently as Arsenal have thrown away so many leads this year.   I did go the to Arsenal Fulham game as well, now that was dire. I actually blamed the Arsenal fans for them throwing the game away. The tension was unbarable in the crowd so can only imagine what it was like on the pitch.   Before anyone says anything, I am NCFC thru and thru, for every Arsenal game I go to he comes to a Norwich [Y]
5.
Spot on, CambridgeCanary, I don''t see how hating a football club is ''over the top'' at all, especially one that conducts themselves in the manner that Chelsea have done over the past 10 years...
I don''t use the word hate very often as its a very strong word. But I stick by the fact I hate Chelsea. I wouldn''t even use the word hate to describe how I feel about Ipswich, QPR or even the moron who likes scratching cars in my street, but Roman Abromabtch, definite hate towards that fella. Can''t he run back to Russia with his champions league trophy and never come back? Surely he has now achieved what he wanted. Cheslea are never going to be the Man Utd, Arsenal or Liverpool of old, winning everything there is to win a season, its too close at the top for that.
6. This has actually really angered me. So Roman has sacked about 200 managers in pursuit of the Champions league, RDM wins it for him and is then sacked less than 6 months later?? I actually hate the state of football in this country at the moment. I really hope Pep snubs Chelsea and sticks to his sobatical from football and leaves Chelsea with Rafa Benitez, who lets face it, won''t cut the mustard. I''m with the OP on this, this has just made me hate Chelsea even more. I really hope RDM had some time left on his contract so has walked with a wedge of Romans money.
7.
Agreed, they should be in a better position Vazza, but I would not swap any of those star names you listed for any of our boys. Would you?
There are probably a couple. I''d definitely have Onanohua (really can''t spell his name), would happily swap him for R. Martin. I''d take Faulin off their hands in a swap for Fox. Very similar type of player. Think he has just suffered with all the big names that have come in. He is much the same player as Fox, but just a bit better at the defensive side of things. But if I had to swap for a first team regular, think I''d struggle as wouldn''t give them Bradley or Tetty. Other than that, I think they can keep the rest.
8. I really can''t get my head around QPR. You look at their team on paper and they should be mid-table. Some of the players they have got, Cisse, Onanohua (sp?), Cesar, Bosingwa, Taarabt, Faulin, I could go on, these are easily good enough to step into a mid-table team. I know it takes time for players to gel and work together, but they have now had nearly half a season. Which means there can only really be 1 problem, Hughes. Yet he keeps his job. Other than buying power and good contacts, he doesn''t bring much to the table.   QPR simply must survive, if they go down they will be in serious trouble with the FFP now in place in the championship. I can''t see them doing a Portsmouth as the owners have enough money to prevent that happening, but how long they will stick around who knows. I believe a lot of their players have release clauses if relegation should happen, but what sort of team that will leave them with in the Champ I don''t know. Well, rather them than and us, and great for us if they do fill 1 of the 3 spots!!
9.
or maybe it''s a winning situation all round   He stays close by so he can easily continue to train with City and be watched by the coaching staff - more so as three of the games are at home with the other in Kent. It could be that Cambridge were also the omly club willing to agree to him being guaranteed a game. I don''t think as far as goalkeeping is concerned there is so much emphasis on the level he will be playing at, that''s more for outfield players.   But most probably the club and coaching staff knows what''s best for him at this stage of his career/development so good luck to him.
If he''s training with City, but then getting a game at the weekend, then thats definitely fair enough as he''ll get the best of both worlds. I don''t wholly agree with your comment that the standard doesn''t matter too much for a GK compared to outfield players. I guess it makes a massive difference as you''ll have an inferior back line in front of you (Making assumptions a bit here:) they won''t respond as well to Steers instructions, and he''ll have much worse strikers shooting his way. I think the game is so different at that level that the match time will effectively be irrevant, different movement on and off the ball from both sides, poorer crossing and finishing etc etc One point in your post I agree with 100% is that the coaching staff at Norwich know best, I work in sales for a reason [;)]
10. Really, seriously?? You guys think this is good? I''m with Mungo (First and last time I promise). He could learn more from David Watson in a minute than he could playing in the Blue Square. Hell, a kick about at the park would probably be better. I think this is at least 1 or 2 leagues below his ability. To counter my own argument tho, its good to get some game time and its only a month so can''t really do any harm. I just think its a lose-lose situation. If he plays really well it''ll be "Its only blue square" and if he plays badly then thats pretty much career over (Its Friday, lets be dramatic [:)], or at least a step backwards anyway )
11. I''ll probably get shot down for saying this, but I don''t think Russ Martin is actually that good a right back. He gets beat regularly by anyone with a little bit of pace and he is ok at best at getting forward. IMO, he is the weak link in our back line. He seems his best when making last ditch tackles/clearences off the line. I guess Hughton saw him as a weak link, hence Whittaker turning up at the club. I know Russ is a fans favourite, but if Whittaker is fit, I expect him to be our number 1 RB going forward, once he''s broken into the team, and it looks like he''ll get that opportunity on Saturday. However, I hope nobodys place is a sure thing, so if Whittaker doesn''t perform, Russ will soon be back.
12. To put my 2 cents into Purple and Morty''s debate. I''m sorry Morty but I have to side with purple on this one. The only variants in the 2 games being used as an example are: The opposition, round and price. Both opposition and round were superior, leaves only 1 factor. And like Purple said, if the man himself has admitted he got it wrong, is there really any reason to continue the debate? The only other factor i can think of is that it was wet and cold, and on Halloween. But seeing as most tickets are bought in advance nowadays and not at the turnstile, and halloween is a rubbish holiday that matters diddly squat, ticket pricing is the only reason for low attendance, IMO.
13.
Not heard any rumours of Ruddy moving on Vazzza - who started that one?
If i''m honest with you Mustard, I''m not sure. I''ve just seen it mentioned a few times, mainly on this message board, that Arsenal are interested. If there is any truth to it I really don''t know, especially as Arsenal have great keepers, just having trouble keeping them fit. I expect it''s probably people putting 2+2 together and getting 5. Ruddy has been playing above and beyond for the last season it would be a surprise if other clubs aren''t interested, add the signing of Bunn and no movement on the younger keepers (although I imagine that isn''t for the lack of trying) it could mean the end of Ruddy in a NCFC shirt... But i doubt it, especially if it is an Arsenal-esque style club that come knocking as he''d probably be back up and be mad to want to move to warm a bench.
14. My mate is an Arsenal fan. He paid £10 for his ticket for the last round which clearly had stated on the ticket "Reduced prices as we cannot guarentee first team players in action" (or something along those lines).
15. I must admit I knew nothing of Tetty and he is proving to be an excellent signing. Whittaker has only played 1 game, even though he looked excellent it may be too early to say. Although I''ve never been a massive fan of Martin, think he is the weakest link in our back 4 with the great additions of Bassong and Garrido. I''m still not 100% convinced by Turner however. He is looking better every game, but is still making some silly mistakes which is unacceptable for a player with his experience. The signings which perhaps weren''t Hughtons deals, Snoddy and Butters. Think they are still potentially the best 2 of the lot, excluding Bassong who is already looking to be a NCFC legend! So yeah, Hughton definitely looks to know his stuff anyway. I''ve not mentioned Bunn yet, even tho he looked great last night, I''m still a bit worried about Rudd and Steer. Both amazing prospects, playing for their respective England teams. If 1 of 2 had been loaned out by now then I would have seen the Bunn deal as making sense, but having them both sitting around isn''t doing anyone any favours and IMO, still means we have wasted money on a position that wasn''t really necessary. Unless of course the rumours are true about Ruddy moving on, Bunn becomes number 1 and then we have the youngsters for back up, just hope this isn''t the case.
16.
Strangely Villa are 9/1 to win the cup while Norwich are 14/1 only slightly better than Leeds 20/1 who face Chelsea!
Thast bizarre. Will be down the bookies later!   But I disagree with almost everyone above. Quarter finals against Villa, has to be full strength. If we win we can assume it''ll be Chelsea, Arsenal and Swansea in the next round, that ain''t too bad a chance to get some silverware and European football next year! I never would have even dreamed of that 3 years ago!
17. Like I said on a thread yesterday, if the tickets were similar to Villa''s strategy of 4 for £44, we would have come as it would have been worth filling the car with petrol to make the 4 hour drive. If we have to pay £120 for 4 tickets, suddenly not so affordable.
18.

Tweet from McNally: We didn''t sell out last night with adult prices at £30, clearly, and yet our revenues were better than a sell-out and a £20 adult price.
The margins are small.   What does McNally want - small crowds paying more money or larger crowds paying a bit less.  Its swings and roundabouts and the difference in income wouldn''t be that great.     "Fill the ground, whatever it takes" - should be the mantra.
There isn''t even a debate here. Of course lower prices and "filling the ground whatever it takes" should be the way forward. Agree completely about future fan base etc etc. I appreciate football is a business and we can see the evidence of bad finacial nouse all around us in every British league, but we are talking £10''s of thousands, not millions here. Its pennies in relative terms, and football should be a supporters game.
19. I wasn''t exactly pro Hughton, but wasn''t backing the Hughton out campaign either. My main concern was he was very set with his formations and tactics and wasn''t very versatile or ambitious with his changes. He now seems to be getting happier with his ''first team'' (especially with most back from injuty now) and definitely is more adventurous with making changes during the game. It''s alomst like he''s listened to the critiques and seen the performances and adapted. That is a sign of a good manager. If he can keep the momentum going I don''t see any reason why we can''t have a successful season.
20. I think he should go for it. He will never pull on an England shirt unfortunately, so may as well represent somebody! Can only raise his profile for when we come to sell him in Jan or after this season (Major assumption there, but seems to be surplus now with the strength we have in the midfield)
21. Being an armchair fan myself, catching games on tele is imperetive. And I must agree with the above post, i think its ludicrous that the UK has the worst coverage going for EPL and no coverage at all for Saturday 3pm games. I pay my £60 to sky and £10 to ESPN to watch what is effectively about 4/5 Norwich games a season. I''d happily pay double that to watch Norwich games week-in week-out. Maybe each club should have its own channel which you can subscribe to, and the money goes directly to the club involved. This way, even if showing extra games on TV did reduce the amount of fans going to the gorund, the clubs would still directly benefit from the subscription fees. I guess I''ll stick to watching online...
22. I like the idea Villa had of doing 4 tickets for £44 for our game. Call it £30 a ticket, or bring 3 mates for an extra £14. Think a pricing strategy along those lines would be good for this type of fixture. I wanted to go, but after paying £30 for the ticket and about £50 for the train and at least half a day off work, just isn''t realistic to watch a second string team. Now if we were going to be full strength and really going for the win it might be different.
23. I know its not going to happen after reading the article on the homepage today about Hughton being ready to make changes, but I would rather see a closer to full strength team. We are not that far away from a wembley final and some of the stronger teams have already been knocked out, so a good opportunity to give it a real go. Still leaving out a few key players/people just back from injury, i''d like to see: - Ruddy Whittaker - Turner - Bassong - Tierney Fox - Tetty Bennet - Butters - Snodgrass Holt I think there is a lot to be said about playing Turner and Bassong together as much as possible so they can work on their partnership. I know Snoddy isn''t really a left winger, but no harm in trying it and letting him, Bennet and Butterfield rotate... That team should walk over a weakened Tottenham team, we seem to do pretty well against them anyway of late!
24. I thought it was a scuffed shot, but the sky guys did make a good point, Holt was looking directly at Hool''s. Who knows, either way, it was a great chance that should have got finished.
