  1. I remember that he was a brilliant goalkeeper, certainly our best to date, and also a real character. He had a particularly flash way of kicking the ball out from his hands that I remember copying when I went through a time when I played in goal a bit, sad but true. Whilst I do have a crappy memory of detail going back to when I was a youngster, I do vaguely remember in a match KK clearing the ball out and it hitting big Duncan (or ANO) on the back and then bouncing back past KK and in to the goal or very nearly in to the goal........can anyone else remember this???
  2. Considering a previous thread regarding an alternative message board, it would be interesting to see the current traffic numbers on this board compared to a month or so ago. Even considering those who are not posting on here currently and the fact there has been an international break together with a good run of results, it is alarmingly quite on here and we see so few decent new subjects posted.
  3. ah cant believe I missed Megson! So, what''s the answer?
  4. ....and there was me predicting them as an outsider for the play-off''s a few weeks ago....I think I must have missed my tablets or something
  5. This is a good idea, and challenging if you don''t use google of course. 8 - Gunn, O''Neill, Adams, Stringer, Ashman, Williams, Deahan and Butterworth?
  6. No way, with the squad we now have I am expecting automatic promotion and anything less would be failure. If we aim for the play-off''s we will end up with nothing I feel.
  7. But the thing is, rarely do you find any news items in the Pinkun that havnt either originated from the message board or, that you can read elsewhere......it''s hardly the place to find real juicy information or breaking news about our club first, plus most of the articles are taken from one interview and split over several day''s. You even struggle to find the results let alone match reports of the Academy and youth teams. Sorry to be so harsh to Archant, but I really do believe they have let things slip big time! So, in answer to the thread subject.....I really dont think many will come over for a look....as the window is usually close to being empty :-(
  8. I couldnt agree more, get back as soon as possible, and as I mentioned in another thread, with the squad we now have I am expecting it to happen straight away with automatic promotion this season. On the bigger picture of the cash, I just would love to see two things happen going forward... 1. The amount paid to the top players easing off a little, it has now really got out of control and there needs to be some kind of financial rule put in place, perhaps on squad salary spend. 2. More money filtered down to grass roots football and also to lower league clubs - I have wanted to see for years the Premier league clubs all being made to "twin" with a amateur or semi professional club....i.e. Norwich City with a King''s Lynn, Wroxham or Lowestoft with a small percentage of income going to that club, guaranteed pre-season friendlies, etc
  9. Thanks southstand, I read a comment about Ron Davies by Matt Busby, clearly a real great at that time. Now, seeing Terry Allcock''s name mentioned, reminded me that I went to his testimonial....vs Ipswich and a 3-1 win I think....as a lad I remember him looking so old :-). Two more players I remember particularly fondly are Kevin Drinkell and Mick Channon, real solid characters, the type we need in the modern game.
  10. Reading the thread about the Norwich City Welsh team reminded me of Ron Davies........a real City legend, but one I just missed when I started supporting the club back in 1968. It would be great to read some memories of Ron Davies from those who can remember him. Also, to the subject matter.......the first City Legend I can remember was the magnificent Kevin Keelan, surely the best English (yes born in Calcutta, but qualified to play for England) GK never to play for his country. While I am here, the other early legend I remember who must always get a mention was the absolute world class Martin Peters......if a player ever made the game look easy, then the great Martin Peters did. So, who was the first legend you can remember at Carrow Road?
  11. Many thanks, I love it when a poster goes to such trouble to write like this. I agree with almost everything, other than the comment relating to Johnson in The EPL, "liability".....no...we needed more with his attitude and effort last season!
  12. Huge credit to the club and NA on keeping a large part of the squad from last season and then strengthening the way they have. For me, this really does make my view stronger, in that automatic promotion should be expected with what is a fantastic squad. NA now has the task of keeping them all happy and also picking the right team for each match, and I expect to see changes throughout the season based on home and away games and also the opposition of course. Being a little controversial, and based on what I have seen so far........I would be surprised if Hoolahan remains a regular. Why?....well because, whilst he has certainly been excellent at times during some of the matches to date, he has also shown the other side too often for my liking......that of taking that extra touch and missing the killer pass or being caught in possession, something that at this level surprises me. He remains a luxury player, and I personally would prefer to see him used less......I know many others will disagree. Also, whilst really rating Olsson, I feel that Garrido deserves to keep his place, he looks very comfortable at this level.
  13. Nail on head Broadstairs, all I would change, is that a top two end of season position should be expected with the squad we have........
  14. It really is a bit early to make comparisons against either Walker or Stringer.....and as usual, when we lose a game or two we have over negativity and then when we win a few the praise is way over the top. Sure, THIS season after a few games so far so good, although a couple of those wins could have gone either way. Having at last got to a game on Saturday, it is also very clear we are some way off the finished article this season. I thought we were very decent in patches but lacked energy and bite against a very decent side, but in a game we should have put away, something that I am sure NA and his team are working on. As for last season, even though only a few matches, I saw that as a complete failure particularly tactically when we had to win to stay up. So, on balance in terms of performances, a long way to go, but early signs are certainly very promising now he has his own team and squad.....and I cant help but be impressed by the transfer activity, which leaves him with probably the strongest squad in The Championship to work with. If he gets us up, only then can you really start making comparisons with the great Mike Walker and brilliant Dave Stringer.......but, it would be amazing if he does reach those heights, as in particular our club is a club that needs stability.
  15. I really am not a fan ....BUT...in reality he does know what he is doing, and with a good coaching team around him he is probably a good choice........Pulis a hard act to follow though.
  16. Its great to see some youngsters in, but that''s a way weaker side than I expected and also lacks any steel in midfield.....should be fun
  17. I understand your opinion on this fully City 1st. But, I miss the EPL........particularly at times like this weekend, when as a "plastic" I will visit Carrow Road to watch Bournemouth rather than an Arsenal or Liverpool. That said, I will still enjoy every minute of it and get home having lost my voice, nothing changes OTBC
  18. I was very surprised at how poor Town were, caught a bit of them on streams a couple of times last season and they look like they have gone backwards, Only their GK Gerken looked decent, and he got in a bit of pickle with the goal........
  19. First game in against a rampant first home game Spurs, always a tough call. Surprised he started straight away to be honest. But we sure did get a good deal for him, but wish him the best of course........maybe pick him up next summer for a couple of million.....
  20. Just listening to Mick McCarthy''s interview, interesting his comments about City "not appearing to have any Prima donna''s who dont want to be there".........for me, that is crucial this season, absolutely crucial. He also was clearly a little envious of the players at NA''s disposal and the fact that we spent 3m on a striker :-)
  21. I am thinking 4 or 5 changes maximum so as to keep the shape and familiarity going, with maybe Ruddy (usual in early Cup rounds), Garrido (Fitness), Lafferty (Fitness), Redmond (Murphy needs game time) and Johnson (rest) or Tettey (rest) missing...
  22. In reality there have not been that many on here actually calling for Adams to be sacked, very few. Certainly many, who didnt agree with the appointment, going the route of "how many games shall we give him". But, generally I think the sensible majority regardless of who they wanted, know a little patience was needed and the new management team should be given a fair chance. For me, the first game was not as bad as some make out, and at this stage of the season its very difficult to assume that the teams we have played will be top teams or contenders in this division, so very hard to say just how well we have done since Wolves. That said, I for one am pleasantly surprised to date, particularly with the performance yesterday, huge for NA and his team, although Ipswich did disappoint a little and didnt seem to want it as much as we did. I was particularly impressed with the fluidity of our front play and inter changing, very classy and Johnson & Tettey at this level are a force.......so far so good I say........

  24. I am expecting a well prepared and set-up Ipswich, a tough physical and close game, and at the end a narrow win would be great. Mick McCarthy is an excellent manager at this level and for these types of occasions and it would surprise me if we ended up on the end of another big win. That said, NA will at least understand the importance of the local derby, so should also have our team well up and prepared for the occasion.
  25. Its a big subject, and I agree that the big issue in this, shall we say "Malkay Gate" affair, is the possibility of financial gain. As for the mails and texts, from what I have read, it is difficult to understand just what was sent or written and by who, also the newspaper article is written, in shall we say, a manner where its difficult to tell just how accurate and factual the accusations are
