Culverhouse sacked
drurys testamonials V 15 replied to city-till-i-die's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I heard it was because some players complained about his strict training regime with things like how he got didn''t approve of them going out socialising close to a game. It beggars belief. There they are earning loads of money playing football as is the dream of many a man and boy and they complain because they''re told not to do anything that might jeopardise their performance. Unreal. -

Isn''t that chap David Moyes looking for a new managerial position? -
Let''s be grateful Scholes only came back in a coaching role. Imagine the score if he''d played!?!
Manu were not good yesterday but still scored 4 - without some chronic defending for the two game turning goals around half time. Both completely preventable and without that Manu would have continued to be poor and we could have held out for a point instead our heads dropped. But the turning points happened well before the 2 goals - probably in the changing room. We defended stoutly for 40 mins but it was an uncohesive display, with the back 4 regularly out of shape due to ill discipline but most worryingly a real palpable nervousness on the ball, rushed ill advised passing, hoofing it clear, no care taken with it (bradleys early attempt to disembowel Fer from 5 yards summed it up and counted as a completed pass!) What eroded my positivity beyond the players heads going down and the widespread player incompetence was the clear blame culture and lack of ownership on the pitch. A couple of examples, Snodgrass - 90th minute, Olsson hits the bar with a deflected and he rips a strip off the full back moaning he wasnt played in; another snodgrass one was early in the second half when ruddy cleared it long to the right side of the picth, closer to snoddy, when the ball was one again by a manu cb snoddy spends too long shouting at rvw for not competing for the header; despite rvw being positioned middle left. My final example happened after the 3rd goal; Rooney fires in shot no 4 similar to the second goal no effort to retreive it and it ends up with mata putting it in; ruddy rightly erupts post goal only for martin to turn his back on the keeper and dismissively and disrespectfully shake his hand at him; a complete repeat of the bassong rvw incident at swansea We have a discordent squad with the poor quality players purporting to have passion and costing us points. Its a sorry state of affairs.
Sums up what I have thought for most of the season. We''ve not been playing as a team the whole time. Football is a team game and until we are a team on and off the pitch it will be difficult to succeed.
However, the board and McNally need to admit to their mistakes over the past two seasons and cut their bonuses accordingly with an internal inquest carried out. There were two choices in Jan; trust in Hughton and give him some money, or don''t trust him with any more money and bring in a replacement. Instead the board did neither and we see the result of that today.
Agree with what you have said especially the parts above

Always said I blamed Calderwood for many of our problems. You say Redmond hasn''t learnt to cross. Well he should have been taught by Calderwood then -------------------------------------- I love how everyone hates Calderwood, despite not seeing anything from him, nobody here knows who he really is. I think Walcott or Oxlade Chamberlain or Lennon are good examples. Its taken them a long time to get that final ball with their pace (I still don''t think oxlade is there yet). Are you saying Wenger and Harry (whilst at spurs) are as bad as Calderwood? The kids 19 (maybe 20 now?) so his final ball will get better with experience. Surely this is foolish to debate?
Redmond is 20. Culverhouse coached us under Lambert and is attributed with our successes. Calderwood coached under Hughton so by the same token must be attributed to our failures. -
He''s not ***, he''s just not learnt how to cross properly. For a winger, its pretty important. That pace will came in hand, look at Walcott, I wouldn''t mind him in our squad
In that case what did the previous coach do with him during training?
