1. For a small crowd of less that 10K in a three sided stadium, Blackpool is very impressive. It is not just the drummer either. This year they have something of an east stand and will squeeze in about 16,000. I hear that they are the only prem club not to ban the vuvu whatsit. Whatever their results, they are going to have a lot of fun with Olly at the helm. I am Canary through and through and will pick up two or three games here in the North, but Blackpool are now my local team and it is going to be mayhem up here one way or another. I am looking forward to seeing Arsen Venger''s face when he goes to Bloomfield Road.
2. Spencer 1970 "right ol stick in the muds you lot eh? I bet you didnt like the no back pass rule when it first got brought in - and that changed footy for the better. " Stick in the muds, I guess so - but your turn will come ;>) Maybe stick in the mud now, but I was one of the original Barclay Boys. Before we moved into the Barclay, we set the pace noise wise in the old South Stand. Actually, always thought the no back pass rule was the way to go.
3. "did the 1960''s mob feel the same way about the old badge before is was changed to the current one?" Yes we did! Having said that, the present one is excellent, leave it alone.
4. macdougall''s perm Just about spot on as far as I am concerned. Can you imagine Bruce and Forbes at Centre back? I don''t suppose the modern ref would tolerate Big Dunc these days. And, if you also has Watson in the squad for when Forbes was suspended then that would be some defence!
5. Kevin Keelan and Martin Peters.......... and Hucks and Duncan Forbes and Dave SAtringer and....
6. Terry Allcock was also a fine wicket-keeper batsman for Norfolk, as well as a good schools cricket coach. It was said that had he not left Bolton for Norwich, there was a strong possibility of him playing for Lancashire C.C. We will obviously never again see top-flight players involved with two different sports. It is great to see his generation still being represented by Terry and Dave Stringer on match days. ND
7. "What''s inane mean?" inane = silly, lacking sense ND
8. "Fortunately most of the fans at Carrow Road still loved the little guy, and yes, I was there too!! its only a few sad f*ckers on here which take cheap shots at him! Had the defenders/managers done their job we would still be in the Championship, but its easy for the resident arseholes on here to single out one guy, like they''re doing now with Rose or Nelson. All the best Jamie, and take care." Wiz, spot on my friend. In any pro sport, or any other career, you go out and do the best you can for yourself, family and club. There are times to move on. Jamie, regardless whether I would pick you for the team now, you leave with my very best wishes. Cheers! ND
9.
i dont think the club are in any danger of administration based on what McNally has said... but what does it mean if the court rules against us? does that mean we are? does it mean the courts have seen the accounts? how does the entire case work? do we need to present figures?
The club will not need to present figures - would be very surprised if it makes it to court in any case. There will be a bit of face saving on both sides, that''s all. ND
10. Your friend will be able to get a refund on his/her rail tickets. ND
11. "We used to line up, like most then, as a notional 5-3-2 when I first started watching City in 1959. The 5 in my first match at Carrow Road (we scored 3 in the first 12 minutes!!!) was Crossan-Allcock-Bly-Hill-Brennan. " Bly, Then in the mid sixties I was watching Heath, Bryceland, Bolland, Davies and Punton. In fact, when I see Hoolihan I am reminded of Tommy Bryceland. ND
12. City til I Die: Where are you? Let''s be "aving you! ND
13. "Nice one Nelson you ###### wheelie bin lump, lost another game for us." Game of football... League 1 level... humans trying hard ... mistakes... disappointing for all concerned, not the end of the world. We''ll get over it and win again. OTBC NMTD. ND
14. Was coached at cricket by Terry Alcock. He was a fine wicket keeper/batsman for Norfolk. ND
15. Very sad. Respect and best wishes to all KL supporters. However... "Thanks to the generosity of a local couple we had raised sufficient funds to pay the tax (three of us had already paid 40k towards the original long standing tax debt) but it would be pointless to pay the tax if provision was not in place to take the club forward." ... If you have the money there to pay the tax (particularly when donated by supporters) then it MUST be paid. Those supporters are tax payers, as I am, so where is it going to go if it is not paid? I don''t like the smell of that. ND
16.
So Pan Demic your post about Lambert''s tactical ability is backed up by Gunn''s tactical ability to win 6 games in 21 matches?.
I don''t know enough to argue strongly either way, but it is fair to point out that nearly all of those 21 matches were in the Championship. Had they been in League 1 I presume we would have won more. ND
17. If the new series and book are successful and make her a few quid, then good for her. That is what TV chefs do. If she chooses to put the profits into the club this time then that would be brilliant. If she chooses not to then fair enough. If she were to read what SOME people write on here, who could blame her? ND
18. Just a Thought, how bizarre! I know I''ve had a glass, but I too thought that was a strange intervention...[:O]
19. Absolutely brilliant! Yes, isn''t there a hint of Stuart Hall there?
20. Indeed, 1905 saw City''s first professional match. To quote from Ted Bell''s history of the club - On the Ball City - "At that stage they were known as the ''Cits'' or ''Citizens'' (it took a year or two for association with the Norwich canary to arrive and the club began their career playing in blue and white halves, blue shorts)." Yellow and green was first worn in 1907/8, the season before they moved from Newmarket Road to The Nest.
21. 62, supporter since early sixties when living in Holt. First match home vs Northampton when Kevin Keelan got sent off for thumping (Frank?) Large, 30+ yards from his goal. Priceless! I now live in Lancashire and see most of the away g ames in the northwest.
