  1. When we appointed Farke there were a few in the media including Ray Wilkins bemoaning what a shame it was that we hadn't taken on a young British manager, Giggs was the man mentioned at the time despite having only been an assistant Clubs like Chelsea etc had been taking on foreign players and managers for us but there seemed to some kind of belief that we should be trying out their idols to see if they would be fit for management. I'm pleased we did it our own way and feel a bit for Derby, one season in which the fans and the players gave him a chance and bought into him now to have to start over. Oh well - They'd have known the risk
  2. I think theres no doubt that currently there are a lot of people who would undeservedly benefit from Carrow Roads expansion, picking up season tickets for the big time then dropping them when things aren't so great. But ultimately if we are to grow as a club it will eventually need to happen. I wouldn't want to see Webber to come out tomorrow and announce a ground expansion. But if we do maintain our premierleague position for a few seasons there will ultimately come a time when the profits diminish due to the increasing wage bill and the eventual day we find ourselves back in the championship no doubt in another transition. At some point we must make decisions that grow this football club. If it means during the seasons we find ourselves in the lower leagues the ground doesn't quite sell out so be it. That will be times when the larger capacity isn't of much use (unless in the long term it does facilitate some kind of small price reduction making the game more affordable for more people) however ultimately we would be improving ourselves for the good times - when we are at the top table and trying to grow our support. It isn't really that funny that no one was whinging about tickets last autumn. With the current price structure vs performances on the pitch (in which the club do a good job maximising profits) added to the fact that just about everyone is aware a ground expansion can't be afforded without the premier-league TV money who on earth would be asking for expansion when we are in the championship?

  4. Could do with having a capacity of around 35k Imo. Whether that would have to be a long term project requiring the South stand to be extended first to house supporters from a city stand rebuild I have no idea but i'm sure we've pretty much topped the charts of % capacity full for the last decade or so. The profits are indeed minimal but over a big enough timeline the new stands will pay for themselves. It's not something I expect to happen soon but eventually all that premier-league TV money just gets sunk into an ever increasing wage budget until the club eventually finds itself back in the Championship (however long that might take) May as well sort the ground out and raise the stature of the football club. With an ever increasing population and a massive catchment area the club do have an opportunity to move our support onto the next level imo.
  5. Interesting that your example of showing the men up is a game in which there was in fact dissent shown towards the official? There's definitely games ruined by play acting in the men's games but if I were to consider all of Norwich's games last season i'd argue the majority of them took place with little nonsense at all. People just seem to think it happens all the time - it doesn't That said It will be interesting how VAR changes behaviour in the game going forward and likewise as the profile and stakes rise of the women's game improve whether we do start seeing more gamesmanship than we have in the past
  6. I enjoyed watching them both for us and don't think we would be in the position we are in today if it wasn't for the money we got for them. Who knows what will happen in their careers but right now I don't think they have done enough to earn a move to the premier-league with us and the money that would be required to bring them here would wipe us out. Not for me
  7. If you look at other club's its just listing bigger players it thinks are out of contract this season. Even includes Jed Steer at Villa despite him signing a new deal in March
  8. I don't disagree. Would love to see CR like that in my lifetime though.
  9. Wasn't the south stand built with the foundations in place to add 4000 in the future? If so we could have quite the ambitious plan here, house the city stand fans there before then moving onto phase 2 in which we rebuild that one. would take the capacity to 35-37k or so. Might have wiped out our premier-league millions already though. oops Phase 3 and 4 could be replacing the two end stands housing all the corporate stuff in the River end while having a single tiered Barclay for our own yellow wall. Wishful thinking perhaps
  10. Can't imagine theres many who will be able to take you up on that however it is good to see threads like these appear and realise it's not always as bad as people fear and peoples faith can be rewarded. If it makes the OP feel better the 'Messiah' did a fantastic job too this season!
  11. Don't disagree with your opinions on Vrancic but to say Farke is choking is a bit silly. Our 8 game winning run put us in a fantastic position. It would have been brilliant if that had gone on securing promotion last week or whatever but the championship was never going to be that way. Instead of criticising Farke we could look at how competitive this division is and compliment if for being so. Back In September pundits were in awe of Bielsa and already predicting Leeds walking over this division - if anyone's choking it isn't us! Instead that winning run left us in such a strong position that even with a drop in form we would have gone into the end of the season with the strongest shout of promotion. like drawing a game when you were winning it's a disappointing end but thats the nature of this sport. As it happens Leeds being Leeds have pretty much removed any cause for panic we could have been feeling right now. Personally i'm going to enjoy the fight for the title. This side is more than capable of 6 points.
  12. "He is not Emi Buendia. But neither in truth is anyone else in this Norwich squad. " True, but I'd add that until his sending off Buendia had been on fire. Even Emi Buendia won't be that Emi Buendia all the time. Unfair to expect Cantwell to come in and pick up where he left off. Just look at any top player and how their form can dip from time to time
  13. I think our recent success has almost made a few of us think we were just going to continue winning forever. Football just doesn't work that way, certainly not the championship. We were 5 points clear of Leeds Saturday morning and 6 now. Maintained our advantage on sheff utd. Theres always going to be ups and downs and there has been all season. After our defeat at Preston we were down but hadn't dropped points since then until now. I've seen nothing since then or even tonight to suggest we are not the best team in the league. Others would have lost in this situation. This is how teams of Readings position always frustrate teams like us and it's why the likes of Man city / Liverpool drop points to lower league opposition in a season - it happens. We will learn from it and move on. 5 to go.
  14. Ultimately Sheffield United's draw at Birmingham mean we are 7 points clear of 3rd with a +8 goal difference. Have gained a point on Leeds since Saturday morning. Our winning run has come to end. Let's start another on Sunday. OTBC!
  15. “The stark reality in that part of the world must be the mirror opposite at Norwich. That’s management appointments, that’s owner engagement... I know Delia (Smith) and her husband and the owners of Norwich very well and their investment and their involvement – both emotional, physical, logistical, financial – is unequivocal.” Good to see these kind of comments regarding Delia. Always her fault when it's not going well by those not so keen to give recognition when it is.
  16. Thought this was going to be about all those posters who were oh so prominent on here when the club weren't doing so well. Where are they now?
  17. Really hope this happens at some point. Like you i've no idea how the club will implement it but really do think with our fanbase we have the potential to grow the support further and would love to see the capacity around the 35k mark. I also hope that should we be promoted and struggle next season (not that I have any reason to think we will) the fans remain behind the owners and remember that Fulham style spending is no guarantee of success. For as long as the players are playing for the manager as well I hope we stay loyal to Farke if this situation. Huddersfield an example of how twisting can make no difference whatsoever.
  18. Response you got was hardly negative. He doesn't agree with your idea and you don't like it.
  19. Table looks good. If you had asked me this morning I'd have hoped Leeds had won for a 7 point gap to third but being 5 points clear of Leeds AND 4 clear of sheffield united is a great position to take. I know everyone says it but genuinely think we can expect to pick up more points than Leeds from now till the end of the season. Lets go up as champions
  20. Agreed with Rotherham commentators. Had it on my laptop for quality but ended up watching on instagram for radio norfolk on NorwichRewind. Great 3 points. Like Hull it would only have taken another goal to really sink them. People criticising our play today should remember Rotherham had only lost at home 4 times before today. Great result.
  21. I'd heard rave reviews about Mclean when we signed him but worried that after his time out and our good form it was going to be near impossible for him to impose himself on this team and would need to really hit the ground running as the team we have right now simply won't afford time for someone to get up to speed. His impact on todays game shows just what a player he is. Feels like a new signing. What a contribution!
