  1. It didn't work at Huddersfield to begin with, and even then they only got promotion through the PO final on penalties, and didn't play nice football. So not that similar a scenario. But yes we did have a good 18 minutes at Coventry.
  2. Points deductions should be automatic when managers behave badly. Liverpool would probably be relegated then.
  3. A correct decision by the ref given that the Swansea player was in the wrong and the Luton player wasn't.
  4. Haven't read this whole thread but the nightmare scenario may have already been mentioned - Webber moves to Leeds as SD and appoints Farke as his coach. They walk the Championship playing Farkeball and then easily consolidate in the EPL....... Be careful what you Webber-outers wish for......
  5. Was never, ever, ever going to be a PL quality centre back and I never understood why any coach thought he would be. He still might be a decent CDM, but even there I don't think he's forceful enough. I said at the time £25m was a blinding deal, just as £15m was for Lewis. Webber takes a lot of flak but I can't think of a sale which has been anything but brilliant.
  6. Well Marquinos isn't our player anymore so not sure why him. But I'd much rather have Onel and Sara than Dowell and Cantwell, yes. Mainly because they both give a s*1t.
  7. So if that were true, surely both would have started more games? Dowell in particular - he started 32 games for us in 3 seasons. And in at least half of those he was completely anonymous. He will do better in Scotland where the standard is not as high, but he is nowhere near good enough to be a fixture in a successful Championship or EPL team.
  8. We're not, we're selling Aarons and Rashica. Should you not have noticed, neither played very well for us last season.
  9. Oh, you mean apart from letting 35 year old Olivier Giroud score an almost free header against us in a World Cup Quarter Final?
  10. Dowell is another player who is much better now he's left. He's lightweight and injury prone. Yes, he'll probably do well in Scotland because it's a poor league, emphasised by the fact that Cantwell scored his 6th goal in 12 games for Rangers tonight. Two players who could barely get into a Champs side will now be first choice for the second best team in Scotland. Neither were good enough.
  11. Ryan Manning? According to wiki, Tom Ince has two years left on his Reading contract - we surely wouldn't pay a fee for him?
  12. Seriously? I mean, I love it to bits, but with a population of 145,000, it's the 37th biggest in England. I know size isn't everything but even so.....
  13. I have no problem with his interview. I hope it means the local press are back onside. He's just another bloke trying to do his job as well as he can. He makes mistakes and he's admitted some of them. Isn't his fault he works in a very well paid sector; he still shouldn't get personal abuse from anyone, divorced or otherwise. Personally, I think he's done a poor job in the last two years and should be moved on for that reason, but I have no reason to abuse him or scream or boo.
  14. I hope Luton get promoted just so that poor old Derby's record low haul of points can be broken. A decent Champs team because of their organisation and workrate but they'll struggle to win a game in the EPL and they have no one who can change a game. If Carlton Morris is their star man.......
  15. You may be right. Equally, you may be wrong. Cantwell had been at the club since he was 10 years old. I suspect that during that 15 or so years the various management and coaching regimes at the club may have reached some conclusions about him. I also suspect they tried everything they could. He wouldn't sign a new contract. The rumour at the time was that he wasn't being offered enough. If the coaches really believed in this talented player we would have offered him more and valued him more. Clearly they didn't. I repeat that so far he has done nothing to suggest they were wrong - most of our players would stand out in the games he has so far played for Rangers. Players fall out of favour, are sold, moved on all the time. Yes, we should have sold him last summer, but I don't recall reading about too much interest in him after his "no show" at Bournemouth. Being a very cynical soul, I think he downed tools after we sold Buendia and just went through the motions. I don't think you can blame the club for that - you can blame the emotionally retarded player or his agents.
  16. Watched both the first legs. Dreadful games. How any of that lot could possibly be in the EPL is bizarre. Coventry have a goalkeeper and a striker and almost no one else of any quality - and I include Hamer who was total pants. Sunderland have Clarke and Pritchard as their stars, both of whom have shown they are not good enough for the EPL. Luton are just a working unit. They have no one who is any good individually. Morris looked worse than Idah. Only Middlesbro showed any real spark but half their team are on loan from EPL clubs so not that surprising. Hard to believe that we were worse than those four over 46 games.
  17. For Heavens sake, so far he's played mostly against teams that would struggle in League One and Celtic's reserves. Let's judge him this time next year and see if Rangers have won anything. He didn't want to play for us anymore. Nor did Buendia. FFS get over it.
  18. I watched it and enjoyed it. Sam Kerr would walk into the Norwich team. Not a sell out, but still a record attendance.
  19. Nah. Holt, Hoolahan and 9 others surviving comfortably in the EPL for two seasons was the pinnacle since Munich.
  20. His head isn't in it anymore. If we can get a decent fee, anything above £5m, then he should be sold. But then, so should every other player in our squad to be honest. We don't have anyone worth more than that.
  21. I wonder what Wagner is watching sometimes. The subs were just mind-boggling. But we can't just keep sacking managers - 3 coaches have tried with these players; they just aren't very good. I've been toying with my season ticket renewal and if we give Byram a new contract I think that would make my mind up. He's not a bad player when he's playing but that isn't very often and he certainly isn't the future. Signing Idah on for 5 years and giving Hernandez a new deal wasn't a good start for me. We need new blood desperately.
  22. Luton were in the Premier League before in that ground. A few years ago, mind.
  23. Dreadful ref as per usual, but Gunn should save that pretty routinely. Decent half though, played some good stuff.
  24. I've never really seen the excellent player that some on here apparently have. I'm not quite sure why we signed him in the first place as he didn't seem to have a place in Farke's system. OK going forward, non-existent defensively and went out of games for long periods even when he had a decent 20 minutes or so. Wagner did seem to get more out of him though and he clearly has talent - but then, so does Cantwell and he didn't fit either. I agree that losing him on a free is appallingly bad management. I don't really understand why we allow so many contracts to run down unless there has been a decision to let the player go. If we do want them to stay and they won't sign an extension we should get rid of them when they have a year left. We should have sold Pukki, Cantwell and Dowell last summer. We must sell Aarons this summer.
