  1. That raised my eyebrow. I dont like veiled threats ''major problem''. No need for that kind of talk which makes me feel that behind the scenes a bid has been made and he has been confrontational. Dont discount the O''neil scenario where the frustration to sign or retain a player calls the managers bluff.
  2. I love money However if i was in Lambert shoes I certainly would not jump ship at this stage. For that to happen its either Premier league on CV with City. Or premier league jump straight to a (prob lower) Prem side like a blackburn, fulham, west ham.
  3. ''the general impression is that he goes back to London at the first opportunity he gets'' Its the opposite for me, each to his own.
  4. Aaron Wilbraham If hot stays this is a good signing experienced and solid. Not going to set the world alight but not going to need moral support either. If holt goes though thats a different kettle of fish.
  5. The stats according to the Actim index rate Russel Martin as our best player aside from Grant holt. DECEMBER 23, 2010 Rank Player Team Position Rating 1 Jay Bothroyd Cardiff City Striker 422.00 2 Jonathan Howson Leeds United Midfielder 378.00 3 Luciano Becchio Leeds United Striker 369.00 4 Adel Taarabt Queens Park Rangers Midfielder 364.00 5 Danny Graham Watford Striker 349.00 6 Max-Alain Gradel Leeds United Midfielder 342.00 7 James Coppinger Doncaster Rovers Midfielder 327.00 8 Kaspars Gorkss Queens Park Rangers Defender 314.00 9 Ben Turner Coventry City Defender 313.00 10 Andy King Leicester City Midfielder 311.00 11 Russell Martin Norwich City Defender 308.00 12 Lewis McGugan Nottingham Forest Midfielder 305.00 13 Jamie Mackie Queens Park Rangers Striker 304.00 14 Grant Holt Norwich City Striker 304.00 15 Scott Sinclair Swansea City Midfielder 302.00 16 Kris Commons Derby County Striker 301.00 17 Adam Hammill Barnsley Midfielder 297.00 18 Martin Taylor Watford Defender 292.00 19 Albert Adomah Bristol City Midfielder 289.00 20 Paul Green Derby County Midfielder 283.00
  6. Maybe I missed something but why are Portsmouth going to be liquidated? One would assume retaining the club as a going concern was the primary function of the administrators as the club has no/little value outside the leagues? Its in administration so I presumed the shareholders and the debtors would get shafted and the club would then continue less players etc as contracts would be cancelled. Do Portsmouth own their ground...ergo its worth winding them up to get to the assets? Viable business seldom vanish/close unless someone owns them outright and chooses to close them down we even have prepack administrations where the owners can go under and restart (unless negligent). You would have to e a foreigner to close the club down and develop the stadium land as its a little dangerous for a local.
  7. To be honest this is mostly down to good fitness. A sign of excellent preparation and training. If your 5 percent fitter than your opponent this has a disproportionate impact in the final 10/20 minutes. You can be committed and determined but if your unfit your screwed. Kudos to the off field team.
  8. +2 Well the issues of the first half where partly addressed as PL pulled crofts and Surman in a bit and we got more joy "winning" the second half 2-1. Problem is we made graham look like Kaka since he trotted along and had time to make clean stikes of the ball not really sprinting (makes it harder to strike) or with a player putting him off. Watford where not that good at all but their chances where clear and came from lack of pressure, I hate that slow motion feeling of goals where the opposition has too much time and space. Fox looks like a tidy player but at this level if your anchoring the midfield you need to ber very dynamic or a superb reader of the game. From this performance he looked light-weight and needed someone with bite next to him. At the other end of the midfield Hoolahan looked light and slow also he needs to be further up the midfield when he receives the ball if we are not going to dominate possession we either need to play him upfront or ...drop him for a more dynamic and strong player. Having a weak top and bottom of the diamond meant a thankless task for the sides and I thought that Surman and Crofts though not wonderful looked a bit lost in space and will get murdered when we play a side which uses the width better. Defence slow but with a new cb and a new goalkeeper you cannot expect the earth, Ruddy was a bit unlucky for the deflected shots but then again a super gk would maybe had had a hand on one and possibly stronger wrists to plam further the save which surved up the sitter for watford. I reserve judgement not wonderful but with no midfield it was going to be difficult. Attack Martin looked strong and mobile as did Jackson but no service and being swamped with defenders means like the defence your on a hiding to nothing. I was happy Jackson got the assist as really we have too higher expectations for 600k, watford brought on the walsall lad who cost 500K so we are not the Man city of this league and potential needs support Jackson looks good and i expect 10-15 goals this season. The most worry thing for me was the lack of changes it was like we waited for things to happen which i did not think was the case last season. We needed a plan B the formation we played was very attack minded and i think it was a little disrespectful of the opposition look at germany for example their formation is with one man up front with Surman, Hollahan and fox I would have been happier to have another grafter in there from the start.....and definitely now I have seen Fox in action. We are not as good as we thought we where so time to refocus.
  9. Perfect of the few times I can watch city (work abroad and have al jazzera) they are doing the traditional melt infront the of the TV camera routine. The defence are exposed this is an issue with Fox he is not physical/dynamic enough in this match we need to either have two there or change things about. The defence looks kak since people are coming though too easily and reaching are slow(ish) defenders with options and at speed I half expected this the side looked a little light in the middle. Hoolahan has only just about woken up at the end of the half. This means we have had an issue at the top and the bottom of the midfield ergo 2-0 and you cannot really Judge the defence or the attack as both have been isolated. Watford are not this good and there is still time to change things about.
  10. Drogba could play with this midfield and look tripe. I think he will come good only one chance so far.
  11. +1 He is fast, That is the difference between Champs and Prem the defenders are good + fast.
  12. That drastic thing may have to be mass bankruptcies and collapse. The elite never give their seat at the table away freely.
  13. and if they want more sod them and move on. we can always come back if another bidder comes in. You may find however that the player has already decided and agreed terms behind closed doors. In that case declare intent and then walk away and let ''player power'' push the deal. SJ would be mad not to join Norwich he may have to throw his toys from the pram.
  14. Someone is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay. Like a house like a car. SJ is approaching the last year this nocks off a few hundred grand as it weakens the selling clubs position. D2 is not the D1 or the champ i doubt even if they won their league the prize money would be half of 500K that and they would loose him for nothing and have a moaning player all season when they would have a motivated player. This year is not last year, the prices have gone down and many clubs are in the doo doo. Even Barcelona didn''t pay Messi last month. Our offer which I assume is under 500k is a good one because I dont see anyone else offering more so until then thats what he is worth surely?
  15. I think your spot on with those prices. Hes good but he is in division 2 and did not get over 20 goals last season. 350K plus ad ons for promotion, over 15 goals and resale and its well enough. I would be throwing my toys out the pram to join norwich from D2 nows the time for him to move on.
  16. For me he was the voice of Norwich City. Many of my great younger day moments involving Norwich city have a Roy Waller soundtrack. Did not really know him but he always came across as a gent and has a obvious passion for the club. My respects to his family.
  17. Ian Crook Beautiful passer not the fastest but always had space and could dictate a game. Imagine the slower more technical international game and Crook in the England team whyyy!!! Travesty
  18. by river garden I mean that large Chinese buffet restaurant.
  19. If you saw the takings and the rent it was amazing it ever lasted as long as it did. Its a shame but this is the reason for he recession and many pub closures the rents and rates are just so so high for such places. I think the rivergarden also is up for sale/rent (maybe old news as I work abroad). So it shows you that part of the city is really suffering.
  20. I concur with this Sharp is good but SJ is a pace man. We need pace as another option and SJ is the type of player we can by for 500k and then xx goals later could be worth 2-3 million. I think the offer made is fair but you can see how desperate they are to get the max price. If SJ is a serious footballer her has to move now
  21. When i lived in the south of Norwich i would bump into him from time to time. Always pleasant low key kind of guy. But then again you tend to think of goalkeepers as a bit nutty....I guess you need to be like teflon to put up with the mistakes that happen if your too sensitive it must be terrible.
  22. Because if you win playing for a big club your great. If you win the world cup your a legend. When your on 100k a week you can buy anything you want boats, cars women and hangers on. You cannot buy a world cup though. Its also the worlds largest shop window thus good world cup = $$$$$$$$$
  23. Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we''d make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it''s breathtaking, I suggest you try it. I love a good monologue
