1. Well, it''s not the board. We''ve seen with Tony Fernandes at QPR and Vincent Tan at Cardiff (and arguably Tony Xia at Villa), that people who plough large sums of money in just get ripped off by smart agents. The problem''s that the player scouting and recruitment has been utter crap for years. It worked under the Lambert era, but only because he was signing players who had played well against his teams. We appointed people like Ewan Chester, Barrie Simmonds, Lee Darnborough and Tony Spearing, all who had a pedigree and experience at other clubs, yet delivered nothing here. You''re comparing us to Southampton, yet Southampton''s youth academy has sold over £100 million of youth talent in Walcott, Bale, Oxlade Chamberlain, Luke Shaw, Chambers  (and Schneiderlein) and then factor in sales like Lovren. Jacob Murphy''s the first Premiership level player we''ve produced since Jason Shackell, and in terms of true top class talent, Craig Bellamy was nearly twenty years agoWe''ve bought too many Premier League cast-offs Naimsith, Mulumbu, Bassong, Dorrans, Jarvis, Jerome with mixed results. But you''re not going to match or pass established Premier League teams like that. For overseas players, the only decent player we signed in the last ten years was Tettey. At least someone (Balls?) has finally realised what the main issue is. It''s just a pity that we didn''t appoint Stuart Webber two years ago, when we had some money left.
2. Difficult one, on one hand, he''s 31 next month, and he''s been playing since he was 18, having amassed nearly 450 games in 13 seasons, and with two years left on his contract and a high wage, you wonder how much he''s got left in the tank.On the other hand, he''s incredibly committed, knows his game and you''re not going to be able to replace him for the money you sell him for.
3. When Webber came out with his "only 12-15 players of the current squad will be here next season", I didn''t think he was including the likes of Godfrey and Thompson in that number.  Clearly he was.
4. I thought the whole reason we got rid of him in the first place was that whilst he was tall and athletic, he lacked vision and awareness of what was going around him on the pitch. Didn''t seem like a Farke signing at all.
5.
i think we will play him this season as AM with Pritchard taking howsons role in team ;-)
Thought the issue with Pritchard was that he was a bit lightweight and kept getting knocked off the ball?
6. Sounds like he''s impressing during training - and putting the hard work in as well. There was talk he''d be going out on loan, which still might happen, but wondering if they see him in the first team squad now?
7.
Well wes & Pritchard ain''t no giants.
I think modern formations help a lot though. Running a 4-2-3-1 means you can easily play a lightweight number 10. It''d be difficult to fit either of those guys into an old school 4-4-2. In general a scout''s going to pick a big lad over a small lad if they''ve got similar technique.
8. Sir Derek Jacobi and Sir Ian McKellen have been hired to read out the pinkun posts from Morty and Lakey. To be confirmed at 6pm.
9. Sounds like they''re not replacing Irvine then. Domogalla''s a direct replacement for the departing Nick Davies, and Fluthman for Joe Savage (believe he was Alex Neil''s video scout and think he''d left). Kiely staying as goalkeeping coach and McAvoy having a bridging development role between the first team and the U-23s.
10. I think it''s going to be a fairly transitional season, and we''ll be lucky to get in the playoffs. I think the focus is on avoiding the financial cliff once the parachute payments stop. Ideally you want the spine of the team in place early, so that you can get the fitness levels and the tactics bedded in during pre-season, and ultimately we''re dependent on moving players on before we can get their replacements in. For example with the centre backs, we''ve got Martin and Zimmerman, Bielik is expected to be announced on loan shortly, and for the club to get an experienced fourth centre back in, we''d have to move Klose on first.
11.
My favourite episodes of The Phil Silvers Show (AKA Bilko) were the Elvin Pelvin one and the one where they tried to court martial a chimp and Bilko was his defence lawyer. They re-ran all the epsodes recently on The Forces channel on Sky. Fantastic stuff.
I watched some interviews (bonus content on the Bilko DVDs), and that this was the era when retakes were insanely expensive, and everyone had to rehearse the material to death and pretty much nail it first time. The whole bit where the chimp sods off and picks up the telephone (veering off script), Phil Silvers doesn''t miss a beat and ab-libs the immortal "He''s phoning for another lawyer".
12. Could just be agent talk trying to get him a better contract, but ultimately if he doesn''t want to wear our shirt, would have thought it was fair easier to break into our team than Leicester''s,
13.
Brighton away - if no-one has said this yet.
Premiership Brighton? :O
14.
It''s all down to very fine margins LDC, and anything you can do to get an extra 1-2% from each player is worth it. Problem is all the others are doing it too!
But in Lafferty''s case an extra 1% of nothing is still nothing :P
15. http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/head-of-sport-science-nick-davies-leaves-norwich-city-1-5068786Honestly had never heard of the guy before.I knew a Nick Davies, but he was ginger.
16.
Paul Moy for the sheer mind boggling ''entertainment''.[:''(]
When can I be sectioned? You may be sectioned where someone has raised concerns about your mental health and has contacted your local social services or local community mental health team. This person could be: a health professional, such as your GPa member of your family or someone else you knowyour nearest relativeyour psychiatrist You should only be sectioned if: you need to be assessed and treated for your mental health problem urgentlyyour health would be at serious risk of getting worse if you did not get treatment quicklyyour safety or someone else’s safety would be at serious risk if you did not get treatment quicklyyour doctor thinks you need to be assessed and treated in hospital, for example if you need to be monitored very regularly because you have to take new or very powerful medication. Otherwise, you may be asked to attend a hospital out-patient clinic.
17.
@ICS He fed burgers to swans to make them float better
If no one else got it, I got the Alan Partridge reference ;)
18.
I miss Morty maybe we should have a thread to get him unbanned?
Does anyone know what Morty did?
19. Well he''s big, strong and a decent age.Seems to be very similar to Sean Raggett, and we preferred Christoph. Just have to see how this one goes.
20. I thought they were lacking coaches after the departure of Dmitri Halajko and Graham Murty? Would be a real bonus having McAvoy back in the youth setup.
