Are Brighton being serious? £50m for lamptey is ridiculous! -
We'll have none of that kind of talk here. This is a family forum after all!

Transfer Rumour Thread Season 2021/22
cornish sam replied to Alex Moss's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I thought they had a recognised relationship when Webber came here? More likely their relationship just broke down for some reason, or Webber feels he can control the narrative better with local press and bailey since all of the nationals will just use those as their sources anyway. -
If he's been there that long you need to report it (if you haven't)... Or I've just taken a joke too literally...
-
If he is being groomed as Webber's successor then he will know (or now be told) how long Webber is planning to be around for. Previously it was next June, there have been hints this might be extended, but only short term. Hopefully he has been learning about the infinite game off his senpai and will see Boro as a short term win leading to a long term greater loss...

Is mendes not a shareholder of wolves? At what point could that become a conflict of interests?

Just remind me, how many figures are there in £5,000,000? Sticking strictly to why bailey has said we may have got £2,499,999 from the new sponsor. There is also a reason why most clubs are sponsored by gambling firms, only them and massive multinational conglomerates are willing to throw that kind of money at sponsoring a football club. Realistically, what is the ROI on sponsorship of a small premier League team? The aim of such sponsorship can only be brand recognition or association with a successful, recognisable team. We are not going to be the latter next year, and for brand recognition internationally we are only going to get big audiences for a dozen matches against the big 6. So, who do you think would be willing to sponsor us for £5m pa other than gambling firms, who our fanbase have rallied so hard against?

As I posted in the Madison thread: If Webber was telling the truth about him wanting to go to villa then we were better off getting rid sooner. We can all sit here and say "he could have gone to a bigger club if we waited" but one would assume that his agent had already been talking to the bigger clubs and the feedback was that it was unlikely to happen this summer. If he hadn't or the feedback had have been that there was interest then he wasn't doing his job properly... The fact no one came in and tried to gazump villa (like Leeds did with Gunn) implies that there was no bidding war to be had

No, it has never been claimed to be. There are certain conditions that have to be applied (like teams not being at home on the same day) which means it isn't random. Though it also looks like certain fixtures are seeded in before the algorithm kicks off. This will be our 10th season in the premier League, of those 10 seasons we have faced Liverpool on the opening day 4 times. Whilst it could be random, it certainly looks like it isn't... -
Transfer funds? How much will they spend?

Yes, before Buendia's sale it was being reported that we had ~£15m after Dimi and Gibson have signed -
I would argue that for every example of sensible investment there are three of failure. Disregarding that though, I am proud of our ambition to take a different path and hopefully show that football isn't just about who has the biggest cheque book, but can still be the game I fell in love with 35 years ago...

Just on that point, I read something that quoted one of the medical staff saying that when they initially got to him he was breathing and there was a pulse, as soon as that disappeared they started CPR. If this is accurate then the Resuscitation couldn't really have started any sooner surely?

5 actually, we got one for the playoffs as well 😁 All this talk of " we don't stand a chance if we sell EMI, he's one of only 3 prem quality players..." Is exactly why now is probably the right time to sell. If we don't sell him then where we do we get the budget to upgrade what needs upgrading? Yes we won't get someone as good as EMI, but, he is top 6 good, we could get 3 or 4 lower to mid prem quality players for this money and then we have increased our chances of staying up. Dont get me wrong, I would LOVE for us to be able to keep him, but if he goes then it will give us the funds to make a better fist of staying up. For example based in rumoured prices we could get Armstrong, ajer, krunic and still have enough to pay the sell on to getafe!

A mitigation of the inequalities (at least in the short term) may be to let the home team keep the majority of the streaming income. It would still lead to an imbalance but at least it would only be half as much...
