  1. Try throwing some stilton on them, it's meant to be lovely. If not then a couple of tablespoons of za'atar a few minutes before taking them out really makes them sing...
  2. Top 2. Despite our struggles this year, we have a group of players that should be able to push for automatic promotion even without a couple of additions. All it needs is galvanising and organising, which I think Smith can do...
  3. Don't worry, you'll be part of the northern powerhouse any day now...
  4. Anyone would think that the powers that be would rather Frank Lampards Everton didn't get relegated... Shame Burnley didn't get the memo
  5. It's quite obvious that the striker has his arm hooked over byrams shoulder making it impossible for him to actually jump. Why that wasn't spotted by var is anyone's guess.........
  6. If anything they are slightly over performing. Over the last couple of seasons they have significantly cut costs and offloaded a lot of players (net profit on transfers of c.ÂŁ15m) with the owners and the fans being at loggerheads. They had no realistic chance of threatening the play offs this season and some were expecting a relegation battle, the fact they are now talking about only needing a couple of players to go for the playoffs next year shows that he has done a good job with the resources he has available once he got them playing his way...
  7. My initial thought was that he's retired very young, but seeing he's 31 has just made me feel very old instead...
  8. I guess the whole financing thing is just an extension of the win at all costs attitude that is pervasive throughout football. It doesn't matter if your player went down easily to win a free kick, it doesn't matter that your team surround and abuse the ref to try and get decisions, it doesn't matter that the club is funded by despotic regimes, just as long as you win...
  9. And their remaining, totally scrupulous and not at all dodgy, owner has pumped in almost £700m!!!! I'm so close to being done with football that this is what the premiership has come to and everyone says that it's "the promised land"™ and we should do everything we can to get there and 'establisg' ourselves. If that is what it takes then **** that, I'm out...
  10. I genuinely disagree with you. I think that there is a significant proportion of our fan base who care that the owners reflect the values that they themselves have and to some that is even more important than the league position.
  11. Being a pedant, if he's in Russia he isn't fleeing the conflict as that's in a different country...
  12. TBF they were there to see a fake boxing match so quite fitting really...
  13. But at least they're just incompetent and you don't have to overcome the biases of both the onfield and var cretin...
  14. Embarrassed? Not a chance, they just realised how much of a PR disaster it was and have tried to pretend it didn't happen...
  15. Face down @ss up? Sorry, that's facing them going backwards....
  16. Could have been the only way Huddersfield would take him. Better to sell at less than market value than have him sitting in the reserves for a year. Also at the time, people were saying it was good business as he "hadn't shown anything" whilst on his previous loan...
  17. Exactly what I was thinking whilst reading that... Though I'm hindsight it is a real shame that knighton didn't get hold of man it's if you look at what happened under him at Carlisle...
  18. Never understood what cas or a legal basis has to do with it. They don't have a legal right to be in the organisations, surely if FIFA/uefa wanted to then they could just expel from the organisations altogether and then they're not allowed to participate anyway...
  19. I've seen quoted that Chelsea owe him $2billion so it's possible but not likely... https://www.forbes.com/sites/daviddawkins/2022/02/24/roman-abramovich-has-sanction-insurance-a-2-billion-loan-to-chelsea-fc/
  20. I did read it and it is still lazy journalism, Everton are not the only premier League club in the top 20, they were the only pl team in it last season. Any proper reporting would either use the past tense or caveat with the fact that Norwich are now in the prem and wer 8th...
  21. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60510631 Now I'm a fan of the BBC in general but this is amazingly lazy or misleading journalism to say Everton are the only premier League team in the top 29, we're 8th!
