1. Yes seen him play loads, has scored goals when playing in a midfield role as well.  He really should have a go no more of  a risk than playing Thorne, Jarvis etc.
2. Jason Shackell & Robert Green the only regular first team players |I believe in the last 10 years to come through the ranks.  Since the actual Academy started only Shacks.
3. I was surprised when I saw than Scum were in the Suffolk Senior Cup but maybe its not a bad idea to play reserves/youth team in the Norfolk Senior Cup to at least get some football.  But I suppose it would be a bit embarrasing if they lost to a team like Norwich United or Fakenham etc.   Its a difficult one to call but I do think Norwich must try and do something next season as this season has been a farce for the "fringe" pros, even players loaned out to Lynn aren''t getting a start.
4.

Have watched Chris Martin quite a lot very good player imo.  He is quite tall and a decent build.  I think he would be a better prospect than Jarvis.  He is a very committed player who is not afraid to get stuck in .  He does have an eye for goal as well, even when playing from Midfield.
everyone was saying this a few years ago about Jarvis... no doubt we wil lbe lambasting Martin for his poor showings when never being given a decent chance (ala Jarvo) in a few years too? jas :)
I don''t think anybody has every said Jarvis is a committed player who is not afraid to get stuck in.  Christ is totally different type of player to Jarvis but imo much better suited to the Championship
5.
my team for the fa cup tie against tamworth would be as follows:                               lewis colin        spillane        shackell        rossi j henderson        safri        etuhu        eagle                      martin        dublio Subs: gallacher, drury, hughes, hux, earnie Rossi Jarvis & Robert Eagle on the left side recipe for disaster they would get over run as no pace whatsoever.  Agree some youngsters should play but must win the game.  ps why do people think Rossi is a left back? this team has enough qaulity and experience to wi the tie and it would give some youth players a chance aswell. or do you think we wshould go with a full strength side just to be sure of victory?
6.
agree 100% with you silver fox. Ryan Jarvis was a wery talented player, but ouer "safe" managers havent given the youth eny chans
Ryan was always a talented player but also always as lazy player
7. Players have to be kept till 18 as the current scholarship is 2 years. used to be a 3 years scholarship so they were 19 when released.  Hope that clears that point up.  I am sure the boys do know after 6 months of their scholarship how things are going, but the contracts are put in place for both parties.
8. Excellent post Matt totally agree with most points except the Cave Brown situation.  I really do feel he has been sent to Kings Lynn for fitness I believe he will be a decent player (hence 1 months loan) He cannot get match fit playing for Norwich Reserves.  What you must understand is to keep Academy status Norwich City have to sign so many players every year, this means they have to stay till they are 18 ie Adam Gusterson and Lee Howlett last year, Nicky Howell, Ollie Willis, , Adam Smith the previous year.  By the way Adam Smith has moved from Kings Lynn to Peterborough so there can be hope)  But I will say that I will never know why Fisk & Halliday were given professional contracts I can only pressume it was due to public pressure on Worthy!!!
9.
I totally agree with about rockets up arses, and I don''t think that looks a bad starting 11. I seriusly doubts Grant has the guts to pick so many academy players, and, he certainly won''t drop Hucks.
There are only 2 ACADEMY  players and they are on the bench!!! the other youngsters are pros I also agree that Matthew Halliday is not good enough and Rossi Jarvis is defo not a left back.  I don''t think Grant will change it that much
10.
Hmmm...i remember not long ago him mentioning this club in an interview, and some of it wasnt so positive. I think, anyway.
I am glad to see him doing well.  He may have not been positive about this club, but lets face it there was not much to be positive about under Worthington in the end.
11. With regard to the "one hour rule" I dont think some people would realise that when kids are at school this is nigh on impossible and I agree that limits need to be in place.  I have taken kids to the academy and believe me I drove 45mins and when you have training sessions from 5-7 and they finish school at 4 it is really hard.  By the time they shower and leave the training ground it is almost 8.30pm by the time you get home and that is 3 times a week plus weekends.  It really does leave little time for homework etc.  which is still vitally important.  Also eating proper meals at 8.30 is not ideal for "atheletes" either.  So I for one think that the 60 minute rule needs to be in force.  Its really not a case of parents being ok about it, it is the physical aspect of it.
12. Dont think we actually need to replace Webb, but would be a good opportunity to get Iwan back at the club on a full time basis.  Webb was involved (apparantly) with first team training sessions. Also Dave Williams is involved with the Welsh national youth team so who is to say that he will stay too long.  I think it would be the ideal time to get Iwan back and at no additional cost to the club.
13. Sadly this will be a good opportunity for some of the youngsters, but in truth a few of the newly signed pros are probably only realistically at this level.  I think it would be good for any player coming back from injury ie Andrew Cave Brown because how can he actually have competitive football which is what you need when returning from injury.  But I do think any player that goes to Lynn on loan will realise their dream of a career with the Canaries is almost over.
14. No point in replacing him the reserves are made up mostly of youth team players and pros not quite good enough surely they all get enought "good coaching" and they only need to train together before a game to practice set pieces etc.  Total waste of money having somebody on a full time wage for that imo
15. Two Words to say about this really GARETH BALE!!! Give some of the lads a chance.  Those who are impressing in training Eagle, Spillane, Martin etc.  you cant judge them on performances this year with hardly any reserve fixutures.  It appears that Grant has come in and looked at some of the signings from last year ie Halliday, Fisk, Jarvis etc and is obvioulsy not impressed with them as they are not even getting a mention, but  now is his chance to judge the youngsters and play those he thinks are doing well.  All other clubs seem to play their youngsters I really don''t think all our youngsters can be all that bad .......... can they?
16.
He''s 5''9 http://new.pinkun.com/content/NCFC/Squad/2006-2007/MichaelSpillane.aspx
Hes the tallest 5''9 person I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!
17. Have watched Chris Martin quite a lot very good player imo.  He is quite tall and a decent build.  I think he would be a better prospect than Jarvis.  He is a very committed player who is not afraid to get stuck in .  He does have an eye for goal as well, even when playing from Midfield.
18. I have watched Asmat play since he arrived at Nowich.  I honestly never thought he would be good enough to earn a professional contract.  Whilst he did suffer a terrible injury, he did make a great recovery and in fact was only out of action for about 6 months (and this did include the summer break).  So in footballing terms he didn''t miss too much of his scholarship.  I wouldn''t be at all surprised if he does not stay in the country looking for another club but will return to his native Denmark.
19. Dont think Adam Smith had a cruciate injury.  He got an England cap as an under 18 but Nowich seemed to think he was a bit small.  He was one player that imo didnt really progress under  Aidy Boothroyd (for whatever reason).  I think he may have had trials with Northampton & Peterborough when he was released, but didn''t impress at either (at the time)  Wish him the best of luck as he is a nice quiet lad and does have a sweet left foot.
20. What we should have learnt is that if you''re good enough you''re old enough.  Ipswich have nutured their youngsters Billy Clarke, Danny Haynes, Shane Supple etc and they are now paying dividends.  We have "professional" lads older than these yet to play a first team competitive game.  Maybe the contracts were given out to save Worthy after so many called to give the youth a chance at the end of last season.
21.
Considering the way Neil Reynolds was holding Chadwick on the touchline after he fell, it did look like he had dislocated it. That would be just great. Sometimes I think we must be the unluckiest club in the world for injuries.
Agree we are quite unlucky, but think Geordies would have a good shout for being the most unluckiest!!!
22.   The thing with Freddy Eastwood is that he took a step backwards to get on.  He joined Grays a year after being released by West Ham and has progressed from there.  I firmly believe we should let Ryan go, but I don''t think many clubs in lower divisions would be interested as he is a bit of a luxury player and that type of player doesn''t really have a place in div 1 2 or conference.  So I really dont know where he goes from here footballing wise.
23. Totally agree with you Hump I think Ryan was quite lucky to get a new deal last year, I don''t think he had done enough over his past contract to warrant another one.  It is maybe a sign of the money/contract debate that the best players last night appear to be ones like Fisk on a one year contract and no doubt  a wage pack to match and Bexfield, Quale etc fighting for a contract? I too have been disappointed with the "senior" players in the reserves this year in seniors I mean those pros not on a one year deal!!
24.
The rule is a newish one. ] None of the 3 players you mentioned thorpe began their life in East Anglia Green is from Surrey Eadie was from Wiltshire Bellamy started at Ryll FC in Wales So we are limited because it is now harder for us to pick out the bellamy''s from a young age. We have signed some older youngsters though ( iguess the rule only applys to under 16''s or something)
You are quite right, the rule is the player must live within 90mins travelling time of Norwich and as the youngsters train a couple of times a week and at weekends it would be unfair to expect a 12-13 year old to be able to manage this with all their school work.  The 90 mins travelling time is void when a player signs a scholarship (16 years old and left school) as they are moved into digs within the area.  There are always players released and not offered a scholarship ie Danny Haynes from Charlton, turned down Norwich went to scum.  Shabaz Abidoo released from Arsenal,  turned down Nowich signed for QPR (to get first team football), but at least Andrew Cave Brown did sign for us when released by Charlton.   So there are players out there but I believe it was the lack of  a chance of first team football why players dont sign for us (hopefully now they will be given an opportunity - IF THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH under PG).  It appears that Norwich are going further afield now as they have signed scholars from Scotland and Ireland as well as Denmark.
